intro • news in brief • the big bounce

The end of the academic year is just around the corner - although you might think that things calm down here at the SU in Term 3, there’s still loads going on. Two of our biggest events - the amazing Graduation and Sports Balls - are coming soon, along with the highlight of the year: the 2012 Summer Party! Don’t forget Warwick Student Arts Festival either, which will make sure that campus comes alive once again after exam season with an array of student performances, productions and showcases! The current Sabbatical Officer team is, of course, leaving in the coming weeks. Last February you elected us to improve your buildings, challenge the University on academic issues, provide a high-quality student experience through societies and sports clubs, and campaign for you locally and nationally. On this basis, I hope we’ve done you proud!

news in brief summer event tickets - now available for collection Physical tickets for this year’s Grad Ball, Summer Party and Sports Ball are now available to collect from SUHQ Reception – just bring along your student ID card and the staff will pull up a record of your purchase. Please make sure you look after yours once they’ve been collected, as we won’t be issuing replacements if you lose them!

throughout weeks 9 & 10

The European Championships are now in full swing, with most games being screened live in the Students’ Union over the coming weeks. Make sure you pick up your wallplanner from SUHQ Reception to keep track of all the fixtures and scores, and we hope you’ll join us to cheer on your national team in the best communal atmosphere on campus! Don’t forget that we also have special 4-pint jugs of Carlsberg, Strongbow and Purple on offer throughout the tournament for just £8 a go!

live jazz in the union

friday week 9

What better way is there to relax at the end of the week than with a cool drink and some live music? A small jazz outfit comprising members of Warwick Big Band will be performing in The Terrace Bar in Weeks 8 & 9 between 2pm-5pm to provide a languorous soundtrack to your Friday afternoons!

For those who are graduating this year, congratulations - you did it!

big band finale concert

For those continuing, you know the drill - keep getting involved!

On Saturday 23rd June, the award-winning Warwick University Big Band will bring you a night of jazz, swing, latin and funk over at the Arts Centre. This will be an exciting musical experience with a keen focus on the older members of the band, for whom this event will mark their final performance - a spectacle not to be missed!

And remember, enjoy every moment at Warwick. It’s over in the blink of an eye! Leo Bøe SU PRESIDENT

WSAF is back from 24th -27th June with an exciting range of performances for you to enjoy – and, better still, all performances are free! Sunday 24th June is Community Day, where students and the local community unite through workshops, galleries, competitions and performances. This is also the day of the muchanticipated Summer Party, and there will be a student showcase within the event offering a variety of performances between 12.30pm-5pm. The festival continues until Wednesday 27th June with workshops and performances by students, all taking place in different venues across campus. Whether you’re into dance, theatre, music, poetry or sport, we have something for everyone, so make sure you get involved and help turn Warwick Student Arts Festival 2012 into the biggest and best yet!
