one world week 2013 • one world week 2013 fashion show

One World Week (OWW) is billed as ‘the world’s largest student-run international event’, and is hosted annually at the University of Warwick. This year’s festival takes place in Week 4 of Term 2, with events running from Saturday 26th January to Saturday 2nd February. 2013 is a big year for One World Week, which is an entirely student-run, non-profit initiative. It aims to stimulate personal development and inspire a view based on acceptance and appreciation of the world’s mosaic of cultures, encouraging awareness of and positive action on issues affecting our One World. OWW 2013 is comprised of five elements - Forum, Festival, Sports, Conference and Nights - and will see campus come alive through a series of debates and discussions, parades and performances, events, workshops, cultural exhibitions and a host of sporting tournaments. We invite you to explore what each of the five elements has to offer by visiting our website at www.oneworldweek.net , and look forward to welcoming you at the following themed days throughout the week:

all student meeting • battle of the bands • have your say

Monday Week 4 Every student has an equal voice - this is the principle underlying Warwick Students’ Union’s democratic structures. The All Student Meeting is a chance for any student to have their voice heard and to vote on policies they want to see implemented in the future. Coming up in Week 4 will be the first All Student Meeting. This is your opportunity to voice your opinion - be sure to attend the meeting on Monday of Week 4 at 5.30pm in the SU Atrium. Bring your flatmates, bring your coursemates, bring your lecturer! Grab a pint from The Terrace Bar if you wish, take a seat on the floor and watch democracy in action. Voting on the individual motions will also occur online at www.warwicksu.com/democracy.

you say... Why won’t the SU website accept payment for event tickets using Maestro cards?

we say...

Don’t let decisions be made on your behalf - vote in the All Student Meeting.

Sorry to those who were having problems this - we’ve been in touch with the company which manages our payment process, and this has now been rectified!

Monday Week 4

Battletheof Bands Tuesday of Week 4 sees the amps turned up to 11 and Copper Rooms 2 packed to the rafters with discerning music fans once again as Bandsoc’s annual Battle of the Bands tournament roars into action! There are 5 qualifying heats this year, with the winners progressing straight through to the Grand Final in Week 10 while the runners-up duke it out at Week 9’s Semi-Final for another shot at the title. As always, the eventual winners will open the Main Stage at this year’s Summer Party – ensure you come along and support your mates, heckle the judges like the panto villains they inevitably end up becoming each year, or just check out the wealth of musical talent Warwick has to offer!

HEAT 1: TUES 29TH JANUARY | CR2 | 8PM DOORS

Why is the Sunday Roast offer in The Duck 2 for £10 instead of just £5 each?

we say... A good point, wellmade - we’ve now changed the offer so that you don’t have to be with a friend to take advantage of the deal. Happy lunching!
