intro • news in brief • warwick student arts festival - coming soon!
Hey everyone! I hope you're all doing well! We're right in the thick of exams now, but the end is in sight - keep going, because there are loads of great events to look forward to at the Union such as the Summer Party, WSAF and the Socs Awards! As exam season reaches its peak, sometimes the pressure can really take its toll. If you do feel stressed or anxious, there is a plenty of support available. This year, the NHS IAPT service are running dropin sessions on Tuesdays in the SU to talk about how to manage stress and low mood. You can also make an appointment at the Student Advice Centre or come and see me in the SU, and there are lots of services available at the University via Student Support. When you finish exams, chances are you might like to sit outside with a shandy or two - without wanting to nag, if on the odd chance that we do get some sun, please remember to use sunscreen to protect yourself. That's all from me - have a good one and, as ever, if you need me, just drop by my office! Ben Sundell WELFARE OFFICER
news in brief postgraduate teachers – update We promoted the NUS survey on Postgraduates who teach at the end of last year - the survey told us that there are real problems regarding job descriptions and contracts, the allocation of teaching and pay. As a result, SU Postgrad Officer Anna Chowcat will be establishing a Graduate Teaching Committee to make sure these concerns are addressed. The committee will consist of Anna herself plus postgraduate students who teach from every department, together with occasional representation from SU staff and the UCU. If you want to make sure the problems that postgraduate students who teach face are properly discussed, contact Anna about sitting on the committee via postgrads@warwicksu.com!
