DRINKING
Freshers is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go out and meet hundreds of new people (then embarrassingly realise 3 weeks later that you don’t remember anyone’s name!) Whether you fancy a cold beer, tasty cocktail or even champagne, we’ve got the lot – all at the cheapest prices on campus.
From classy cocktails to international beers, The Terrace Bar’s sleek, modern design offers a great stop-off before a night out or as a destination in its own right. Look out for regular music nights and the best view of the Piazza’s giant screen!
FACT: Remember, you don’t have to drink alcohol to have fun. If you’re not a
big drinker or are tee-total, don’t feel pressured into drinking. We’re proud of our commitment to responsible drinking, and all of our outlet staff have the right to refuse to serve you if we think you’ve had enough. If you have any concerns, check out warwicksu.com/responsibledrinking

SOCIALISING
When you’re looking to blow off steam after another hard day’s study, there’s no better place to head than to the SU for one of our many regular events. Situated right in the heart of campus, we offer at least 4 different nights a week, providing a wide range of events with something to suit all tastes.
For those who prefer a quiet evening out, we run a more relaxed programme of entertainment in favourite campus hangouts like The Terrace Bar and The Dirty Duck.
REGULAR EVENTS Here’s a few of the regular nights we run...
WELCOME PARTIES It’s on! Celebrate your first night here at Warwick in style as Club MTV lands in our nightclub to bring you an evening of thumping tunes and special guest artists. Expect the biggest dancefloor fillers and grimiest, wobbliest basslines as we aim to start your university experience with a bang! If you have a Saturday or Sunday Freshers T-shirt, this will get you in for FREE on the relevant night!
GET INVOLVED The perfect blend of cocktails and beats
UNDER 18? Due to UK licensing law, students under the age of 18 aren’t able to attend events which take place in our nightclub, The Copper Rooms. We’re really sorry for any disappointment this may cause! However, don’t panic – there are still plenty of opportunities to socialise during Freshers, including club & society-run socials and various free events in The Dirty Duck and The Terrace Bar.
Better yet, if there’s something we’re not doing that you’d like to see, you can always put on your own event right here at the SU! With regular society showcases and a memorable cast of characters on the door, Warwick SU is the biggest, safest and most student-friendly venue in the local area. We look forward to seeing you out and about during your time here! Check out the online calendar of events at

IMPROVING
We don’t always get everything right here at Warwick SU, so it’s up to you to tell us where we’re going wrong. If we don’t have your favourite sandwich filling in The Bread Oven or you want to hear more Nu-Folk Ravestep in The Copper Rooms, we need you to get in touch. It’s really important that we hear from you – if there’s something we can change to make your life at Warwick better, we want to know! You can have your say in various ways:
BY EMAIL feedback@warwicksu.com ONLINE fill in the form at warwicksu.com/haveyoursay BY PAPER fill in a paper form in any outlet IN PERSON drop in and talk to one of the Sabbatical Officers There will be some things that we can’t do. In order to provide our incredible range of sports clubs and societies, keep the Student Advice Centre running and employ all our staff there’s simply no way we can, for example, charge £1 a pint! Ultimately, we have to be realistic and there will be some suggestions we simply can’t take forward – when this happens though we’ll let you know and we promise to be honest with you. It’s your Union, after all!

VOLUNTEERING
Once you’ve had a couple of days to settle in, it’s time to start working out what you want to do with your time at Uni. We recommend having a go at everything – sports, societies and volunteering.
Warwick Volunteers (part of Student Careers and Skills) will be showcasing their opportunities at the Volunteering Fair on Friday Week 1. The opportunities are endless – check out their website above for more details! There are also plenty of volunteer roles available in your Union – why not spend a couple of hours a week helping at the Student Advice Centre Reception, look out for the Course Rep elections in your lectures during the first few weeks, or run to be a Student Councillor in the Autumn Elections?
FACT: Volunteering is a great way to give something back and helps you meet even more people during Freshers. Just think, this time next year you could be a Freshers Helper showing the next set of newbies around!

FAQs
Right now there are probably a million and one questions going through your minds, so we’ve put together a quick FAQ page. For all other queries, email enquiries@warwicksu.com or phone 024 765 72777.
WHAT IS THE STUDENTS’ UNION?
We’re a charity which exists solely to provide services to our members – from advice, representation and employability to food and drink. We’re completely separate from the University and don’t make a profit; every penny you spend here is reinvested for your benefit.
WHERE DO I COLLECT MY KEYS?
It depends which accommodation you’re in. Each hall is signposted as you arrive and you pick up your keys nearby – if in doubt, ask a Freshers Helper.
WHERE DO I GET MY UNIVERSITY CARD?
Rootes Building – that’s the big white building next to Warwick SU across the Piazza.
WILL I MAKE ANY FRIENDS?
YES! Everyone is scared about this before coming to University but trust us, you’ll be fine. If you have ANY concerns, please speak to someone in the Students’ Union Advice Centre or chat to a Sabbatical Officer.
WHERE’S THE BEST PLACE TO GET A COFFEE? Curiositea or Xananas. Fact.
WHICH IS THE BEST EVENT ON CAMPUS?
Depends on your tastes! We strongly recommend that you try everything at least once – it’s the only way you’ll be sure to find your favourite.
WHERE DO I GO TO CHANGE ACCOMMODATION?
The University has some provision for this, but you normally have to wait a couple of weeks. Ask at Student Accommodation Reception in Senate House to find out more.
HOW DO I LEARN MY WAY AROUND?
It’ll take a while, but you’ll be surprised how quickly you pick things up. Don’t be afraid to ask – you can also find maps on the University’s website.
WHAT IF I CAN’T COOK?
Warwick SU’s got heaps of outlets to stop you going hungry no matter what your budget. Remember, all the money you spend in our outlets is directly reinvested into services for students!
