Hi Everyone,
news in brief
Summer is finally here - first years, make sure you don’t revise too hard and second years, hold on, the end is in sight. Oh, and try to avoid the partying, finalists!
Jubilee Bank Holiday – SU Opening Times
As ever, the SU will be the light at the end of your metaphorical tunnel and we are putting on loads of great events. The Summer Party will be the hottest ticket in town, and the Society Awards will help you finish the year in style - dress to impress for a fantastic evening of celebration featuring Warwick’s top performers in the Butterworth Hall as you have never seen it before…

Warwick Students Arts Festival will also be taking over in Week 10 and we will be treated to over 100 free events including beatboxing, film, dance and drama. ‘Like’ the festival on Facebook and take a sneak peak at what’s coming up on their website at www.wsaf.co.uk. Good luck in your exams - see you on the other side! Matt Rogers SU Societies Officer
To celebrate the anniversary of Her Maj’s coronation, our usual membership facilities in SUHQ will be closed over the Spring Bank Holidays on Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th June (Week 7). However, our food & beverage outlets will remain open as follows:

Student Heart Health – free screenings in Week 8 On June 12th and 13th June, you’ll have a special opportunity to take part in free heart screenings on campus. Taking just a few minutes, these screenings can help spot cardiac abnormalities that often go unnoticed for many years, allowing for these conditions to be monitored and managed. It is estimated that as many as 130,000 young people may have an undiagnosed heart condition. This event is charity-run, and sign-up details and more information can be found at http://studenthearthealth.co.uk/. You can also get daily heart health tips and news by ‘Liking’ Student Heart Health on Facebook or following @SHH_Trust on Twitter.
GUM Clinic – Tuesday Week 8 Our final GUM Clinic of this academic year will be taking place on Tuesday 12th June in Room 2 from 12pm – as always, it’s completely free and confidential, so there’s no better time to get a clean bill of sexual health before heading out for a summer of fun!
Beyond the Bubble – new issue up online The latest edition of our newsletter for students living off-campus is now up online, and features information about crime prevention, noise levels, deposit protection, the proposed Leamington study space, upcoming community events and more. Take a read at www.warwicksu.com/beyondthebubble/
Union Involvement Awards – Tuesday Week 8 On Tuesday 12th June, Warwick SU will be holding its first-ever Involvement Awards at 8pm in The Copper Rooms, celebrating the hard work and dedication of every volunteer who contributes to our Union. The event is open to everyone, but is primarily aimed at our volunteers – SSLC reps, councillors, union officers, committee and forum members, Inspire volunteers, STARS committee and Advice Centre receptionists. We couldn’t do it without you! For more information, visit www.warwicksu.com/involvementawards.
EURO 2012 • The Society Awards
The European Championships start on Friday 8th June (Week 7) and, as always, we’ll be showing every single match live on the big screen in the Students’ Union! We’ve printed up special Euro 2012 wallplanners which will available soon around the SU – these will allow you to keep track of all the match scores and find out which games will be showing where. All the major fixtures will take place in Copper Rooms 1 or 2, so there’s no better place to watch England crash out on penalties in the Quarters after having a goal disallowed in stoppage time (look, let’s not kid ourselves, we all know it’s bound to happen). We can’t wait for the tournament to get started, and hope that you’ll join us in supporting your national team in the best atmosphere on campus. As an extra incentive, we’re offering special 4-pint jugs of Carlsberg or Strongbow during matches for £8, with Purple also available!
Societies Awards 2012 THE SOCIETY AWARDS 2012
26th June - Week 10 This year we’re revamping the Societies Awards to properly recognise all the great activities that Warwick students get up to. Dust off your dinner jacket and break out the dresses as we go upmarket and head to the Butterworth Hall as you have never seen it before… On Tuesday 26th June (Week 10), guests will be treated to a luxurious light supper with dessert to die for as we reveal the lucky winners. You will be entertained by some fantastic talent from our own societies, with music, dance and even magic! As if this wasn’t enough, we’ll round off the celebration of this year’s achievements with a drink or two at the Terrace Bar after-party. Tickets are available online now for £15 via www.warwicksu.com/events - make sure you buy well in advance to avoid disappointment, as places are strictly limited. Table plans will be going online nearer the time!

With summer almost upon us, get yourself in shape by trying a healthy, lighter option to your weekly diet. We’ll be dishing up tasty portions of brain-food in Xananas throughout Week 7 to help with your revision – expect fresh prawns, mussels, shellfish and more!
