Rodent Blab Wotcha, kids; Hamster here. The fact that I’ve been roped in to guest-pen this fortnight’s Sabb Blab can only mean one thing: the Officer Elections are on their way once again. Hoooooo-hah! (I saw Al Pacino say that in a film once). In Week 8, you’ll get the chance to elect the people who’ll be running your Students’ Union during the next academic year. As you can imagine, I’m more excited than a child on a rollercoaster at this prospect – and so you should be, too. Because that’s democracy in action, innit? Run by students for students, and all that; you know the drill.

So! Make sure you take the time to read the various manifestos when they go live at the start of the week, and cast your vote online for the people you most like the sound of. I’ll tot up the scores and we’ll reveal the results live onstage in The Copper Rooms on Friday 28th February. Get on it, yeah? …Yeah. Elections Hamster

Warwick Student Cinema’s Spring All-Nighter is dedicated to the films of one of Hollywood’s most distinctive contemporary directors: Christopher Nolan. MTW presents Sweeney Todd – Wednesday to Saturday, Week 7 Following the sell-out success of RENT in 2013, Music Theatre Warwick are back with an electrifying and dynamic adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street in Week 7. A well-loved “black operetta” by one of the greatest living musical theatre composers, this exhilarating thriller is bound to captivate you with its spectacular score and witty humour. Be sure to grab your tickets from the Arts Centre Box Office, and remember… don’t lose your head!

Medieval Society talk – Thursday Week 8

Warwick SU is run by students, for students. Accordingly, next year’s Sabbatical Officer team – the group of 7 main student representatives who’ll lead the Union during the 2014-15 academic year - will be elected by YOU during Week 8, together with our team of Part-Time Officers. It’s important that you vote for the candidates who you think will do the best job – all their manifestos will be available to view online, where you can post comments or ask questions for them to answer. You’ll also be able to grill them at the Candidate Question Time sessions on Monday and Tuesday, or chat to them while they’re out & about on campus during the week! Every student can vote, and it’s crucial that you have your say. At the end of the week, we’ll announce the winners at our special Elections Results Party live in The Copper Rooms!

Want to see something REALLY big at this year’s Summer Party…? Pimp My Summer Ball is a Twitter -based competition in which different Universities will be competing to have MTV DOUBLE their Summer Party’s entertainment budget! From 3rd March (Week 9) until the ffiifi rst week in April, all you need to do is send a tweet containing the hashtag #~#~#YesPimpmySummerBall, followed by ‘Warwick’. Every time a tweet appears on Twitter containing these words, it registers as a vote for us! And here’s the best part: retweets counts as a separate vote, and there’s no limit to how many times you can tweet. So, if you tag either @@warwicksu or @@warwicksuents, we can then retweet you, and that then counts as another vote! So, an ideal Tweet would be something along the lines of…... ~#~#YesPimpmySummerBall Warwick! @warwicksu RT to register another vote! There are also additional giveaways for the most prolific tweeters. Stay tuned for more details when the competition opens-, let’s do this thing!
