Sabb Blab So you’ll wake up on Monday Week 8 to find every surface of the campus covered in brightly painted cardboard, your newsfeed filled with pleas for support and your path to lectures paved with smiling candidates. All this can only mean one thing – the Officer Elections 2015! The SU is run by 7 Sabbatical Officers (‘Sabbs’), and Week 8 is when the whole student body gets to vote on who they want for the job. The stakes are high – Sabbatical Officers are paid full-time to lead the SU and work for you!

Where’s Warwick the Bear?
To help celebrate the University’s 50th anniversary, each week a different sports club or society will have custody of ‘Warwick the Bear’ and choose a mystery location on campus for him to visit. Pictures will be uploaded onto their Facebook page each Monday, and all correct answers will be entered into a prize draw – when the location is revealed, they’ll provide details of its history so can find out how the University got to where it is today!

It’s that time of year again when we throw open the gates of democracy, unleash the orange hamster and ask YOU to elect the students who will be running your Union during the next academic year! Throughout Week 8, campus will become a hive of campaigning activity as the various candidates for Sabbatical Officer and Part-Time Officer positions try to win your vote. These are the people who will be responsible for overseeing each area of the Students’ Union’s daily and strategic operations, so make sure you take the time the chat to them, quiz them on their ideas and eventually come to a decision as to who you think would do the best job! Voting all takes place online, and every student gets a say. The elections timeline for this year is as follows:

Go Green Week is an annual national week of climate action organised by members of the People & Planet Society here at Warwick. The aim is to raise as much awareness as possible of issues surrounding sustainability and demand stronger action to tackle the current climate crisis. They try to engage students from diverse backgrounds, societies and interests with the belief that climate crisis inevitably affects us all in one way or another. This year’s activities will include an Ethical Fashion Show; speaker events, discussions and workshops; chilled-out but educational film screenings; lots of bike-related activities; a heated debate on the future of Green policies from the political parties on campus; the return of the Warwick ‘Disco Soup’; a party in Curiositea with live music and SO much more! Keep up to date with the events on Facebook at: www.facebook.com/ warwickunigogreenweek
