Sabb Blab Hi folks! I’m really excited to be able to take part in International Women’s Week throughout Week 9. This is a perfect opportunity to take stock of the current state of gender politics by focusing on a range of issues affecting women today, including safety, pay, legal issues and cultural debates. It’s not just for the ladies though, as remember: feminism helps men too!

Women’s Week Week 9 is International Women’s Week, in which Warwick SU will be celebrating the women in your life while honouring female achievements throughout history. It also provides a chance to reflect on contemporary gender politics and look towards greater equality in the future! Feminism affects all of us – as such, there will be loads of inspiring events for students to take part in across the week, from slam poetry and politics to music, film screenings and theatre. It’s all kicking off a little earlier than usual this year with the Reclaim the Night march through Coventry on Saturday of Week 8, with our seminal event being Warwick Hub’s Gender Development Conference in L4/5 the following Saturday.

Let’s win this thing! Join special guests R3Wire & Varski as we team up with Club MTV to try and get them to Pimp Our Summer Ball! Thursday 13th March Room 1, 10pm

2/26/2014 12:12:09 PM

As trailered in the last issue, Pimp My Summer Ball is a Twitter-based competition in which different universities will be competing to have MTV DOUBLE the entertainment budget of their Summer Party. Want to see a MASSIVE name at the top of the bill? Well, this is your big chance to help make it happen! From Monday 3rd March (Week 9) until the first week in April, all you need to do is send a tweet containing the hashtag #YesPimpmySummerBall, followed by ‘Warwick’. Every time a tweet appears containing these words, it registers as a vote for us!

Do retweets count? That’s the best part – they DO. Every time you tweet containing this phrase, that counts as a vote – then if your followers retweet you, that TOO counts as a separate vote! Likewise, if you tag either @warwicksu or @warwicksuents, we can then retweet you, and that counts as another vote. There’s also no limit to the amount of times you can tweet! So, an ideal Tweet would be something along the lines of… #YesPimpmySummerBall Warwick! @warwicksu RT to register another vote! - We can then retweet this, tweet you back to say thanks, you retweet that, tweet us again, we retweet you, you tweet your mates, they retweet that… you get the idea! There’ll also be additional giveaways for the most prolific tweeters – and make sure you come along to our End of Term Party on Thursday of Week 10, where we’ll be hosting a veritable Tweeta-thon to go for a really big push and try to bag the main prize!
