Competitive Salaries
Warwick SU offers competitive salary packages, including incremental increases, discretionary increments and cost of living rises where applicable
National Union of Students Pension Scheme (NUSPS)

Holiday Entitlement (Min of 35 days per annum, pro rata for part time staff)
Grades 1-5 20 days annual leave per annum plus not less than 15 days per annum for bank holidays, Easter and Xmas closures (Pro rata for Part time Staff) + additional 2 days (pro rata) after 5 years service. Staff Card
This will provide you with access to a number of facilities including buildings, Warwick Sport, Library, Travel cards. To register, please see a member of the HR team.
Salary Advance This can be issued to an employee in the form of a short-
term loan, for emergency situations, on a date in advance of the employee’s regularly scheduled payday up to a maximum of £100. Staff can have no more than 2 advances in a rolling 12 month period

Group Income Protection Scheme
This scheme will provide a replacement income if you are absent from work through long term illness or injury. You have be a permanent member of staff over 18 and less than 65 years of age.
Bupa Membership
You can join Bupa Cash Plan Scheme and arrange for membership payments to be deducted from your salary. For more information please go to the Finance department.
Eye Tests
Free Eye Tests for VDU users and contribution towards glasses if specifically required for VDU use.
Access to Employee Assistance programme
Employees who are covered by the Group Income Protection policy are eligible to receive independent impartial advice on a range of services, including health, family and money matters.
Occupational Health Services
Referrals can be made to Occupational Health to discuss return to work, reasonable adjustments required in the workplace and access to Physio therapy.

Taxi Policy
The provision for a Taxi Service is to provide assistance with transport to off-campus living members of staff after the provision of the campus bus service has ended. Certain restrictions apply and it is only applicable to staff grades 3 and below.

Compassionate/ Bereavement Leave
Warwick SU will allow time off for employees who unfortunately have to deal with the death of a relative. Each period of absence will be dealt with on an individual basis due to staff having different relationships with relatives. All cases to be agreed with your Line Manager.
Emergency Time off for dependents
Warwick SU recognises that from time to time employees may have to deal with emergencies that arise whilst at work and are not known about in advance. Time off for dealing with these emergencies are generally unpaid.
Flexible Working
Warwick SU recognises the importance of helping its employees balance their work and home life by offering flexible working arrangements that enable them to balance their working life with other priorities, including parental and other caring responsibilities, leisure activities and other interests. Warwick SU in turn recognises that staffing levels must at all times remain in line with the demands of the organisation.
Parental Leave
Eligible employees can take unpaid parental leave to look after their child’s welfare. For each child (including adopted) it can be 18 weeks up to their 18th birthday. Only four weeks per year are permitted and all leave is subject to approval with your line Manager. Leave is to be taken as whole weeks unless otherwise agreed.
Childcare Vouchers

REWARD AND RECOGNITION Increments
All staff who are appointed onto a grade are eligible to be moved to the next point of the scale on 1st August each year, providing they have been in post 6 months. These increments end when staff reach the top of their grade.
Discretionary Increments
For Staff who are at the top of their scale and have been so for over a year are eligible to apply for a discretionary increment.
Job Evaluation
Warwick SU uses Job evaluation as a method for comparing different jobs to provide a basis for a grading and pay structure. Its aim is to evaluate the job, not the jobholder, and to provide a relatively objective means of assessing the demands of a job. All jobs at Warwick SU have been through this process.
Make a Difference Awards
Each year we celebrate the excellence of our staff in a number of categories as voted for by staff and students. The awards are presented at the annual Vision Day event and each person who has been nominated gets mentioned as well as the winner receiving a certificate.
Staff Social Committee
The Staff Social Committee meet and organise functions throughout the year for staff to attend. Previous events have included horse race night, Xmas Meals and Summer BBQ’s.

This is a day where Warwick SU invites all staff to attend, it focuses on the strategy of the Union and workshops are devised for staff to attend and to make a contribution.

Warwick SU offer a variety of in house training courses from HR & Employment Law, Recruitment and Selection, Disciplinary, Performance Management, Absence Management and Health and Safety Courses.

Investors in People Accredited
The Investors in People Standard is a business improvement tool designed to help employers improve performance by linking people development and skills acquisition to the specific aims and objectives of their businesses, to assess and improve the performance of their employees. Warwick SU is currently an “Investor in People� as we have been accredited with the award.
Professional Subscriptions reimbursed
For staff in grades 6+ positions, any professional subscription relevant to the job role will be reimbursed annually.
Study Leave
Staff who are on an approved qualification training agreement are entitled to 3 paid days per annum of study leave. All arrangements needs to be discussed with your Line Manager and HR Department.
Work Shadowing
Opportunities are available for staff to observe and talk to a person as they go about their day-to-day job. It can allow you to find out what an occupation entails of someone else employed at the SU
Project Work
There are also opportunities for staff to become involved in project work, from attending workshops, focus groups, to planning / developing and implementing a project
Mentoring
Warwick SU offers mentoring support. The purpose of a mentoring partnership is that a mentor can offer a good level of support and act as a sounding board, providing advice and guidance to help overcome challenges as you develop in your job.

TRAVEL Cycle to Work Warwick SU have a Cycle to Work Scheme whereby Warwick SU can purchase bicycles for employees seeking to commute Scheme to work on the agreement that the employee can repay the cost over a 12 month period. This will result in savings on income tax and national insurance for staff.
Car Parking
Warwick SU offer discounted car parking for staff £199.20 per year for grades 1-6 £259.20 per year for grades 7+ (pro rata for part time staff if staff start part way through the year)
Travel Card – Travel for less on certain buses with a Warwick SU Staff card
Warwick SU are in partnership with The University who offer University travel cards and reduced bus fares for bus services. This is subsidised by Warwick SU to its staff. The costs are: £150 per year for grades 1 to 6 £200 per year for grades 7 and above Or alternatively staff can pay as you go for reduced rates.
Access to Warwick Car Share Scheme
Warwick SU work in partnership with The University of Warwick and offer a car share scheme. Warwickshare is the formal car share scheme introduced funded by the University exclusively for Warwick staff to provide a facility to find a colleague(s) to share car travel to and from the University.
NUS Card
Warwick SU offers staff the opportunity to purchase an NUS extra card which gives you lots of discounts to stores, shops, restaurants etc.
Eating at Warwick Card
Warwick SU staff are able to purchase an Eating at Warwick Card where you can purchase certain items in food and beverage outlets on campus at a reduced rate.
Library Access with Staff Card
If you register for a staff card you can use the Library facilities.
Warwick Sport
You can use the Sport Centre facilities with your staff card and obtain discounted rates for the gym, indoor rock climbing, swimming, fitness classes and more.
Guest List Policy
Warwick SU Venue and Entertainments department host a rich programme of entertainment and, as a valued member of staff you are entitled to be put on the Guest List for certain events.
