Victory Fund endorses Joe Vogel for Congress

The LGBTQ+ Victory Fund on Thursday announced it has endorsed state Del. Joe Vogel (D-Montgomery County) in the Democratic primary for Maryland’s 6th Congressional District.

Vogel announced his candidacy on May 8. He would be Maryland’s first openly LGBTQ, first Latino and first Gen Z congressman.

“LGBTQ+ Victory Fund is proud to endorse Joe’s historic congressional campaign,” said Victory Fund President Annise Parker in a press release. “For far too long, LGBTQ+ Marylanders have lacked representation in Congress. We are confident Joe’s positive vision for America, political chops and grassroots support will resonate with voters come Election Day. As anti-LGBTQ and anti-choice legislation moves through legislative bodies across the country, including Congress, we must elect leaders like Joe who will go to bat for our rights. This is an all-handson-deck moment.”

Vogel is one of six candidates in the competitive race. Equality PAC and U.S. Reps. Ritchie Torres (D-N.Y.) and Mark Takano (D-Calif.), who co-chair the PAC previously endorsed him.
