Three Types Periods of Packaged Sewage Treatment Plant Conventional Packaged sewage treatment plant includes three periods, called main, secondary and tertiary treatment.

First, the solids are separated from the wastewater stream. Afterward dissolved

biological matter is increasingly converted into a solid mass by using indigenous, waterborne micro-organisms. If it's adequately clean, it can also be utilized for groundwater recharge or agricultural functions.

Three Types Periods of Packaged Sewage Treatment Plant Main treatment Pre-treatment removes the materials which can be readily gathered from the raw wastewater and disposed of. The conventional stuff that are removed during pre treatment contain fats, oils, and greases , sand, gravels and stone, larger settleable solids and floating materials (like rags and flushed feminine hygiene products).

Three Types Periods of Packaged Sewage Treatment Plant Pre treatment also typically includes a grit or sand channel or chamber where the speed of the incoming wastewater is carefully controlled to allow sand grit and

stones to settle, while keeping most of the suspended organic stuff in the water column. Grit, sand, and rocks need to be eliminated early in the procedure to avoid damage to pumps and other equipment in the remaining treatment phases. Preliminary treatment procedures comprise medium screening, coarse screening, shredding of solids, flow measuring, pumping, grit removal, and pre-aeration. Chlorination of raw wastewater occasionally is used for scent control and to improve settling characteristics of the solids. Main Sedimentation Through large tanks, sewage flows in the primary sedimentation stage, normally called “primary clarifiers “ or ” primary sedimentation tanks”. Floating material such as oils and grease can rise to the surface and the tanks are big enough that sludge can settle and be skimmed off.

Three Types Periods of Packaged Sewage Treatment Plant The key objective of the primary sedimentation stage is always to create a sludge

that may be separately treated or processed as well as both a normally homogeneous liquid capable of being treated biologically. Main settling tanks are

usually equipped with mechanically driven scrapers that continuously drive the collected sludge towards a hopper in the bottom of the tank from where it may be pumped to further sludge treatment stages. Secondary treatment Nearly all municipal plants treat the settled sewage liquor using aerobic biological processes. For this to be effective, the biota require both oxygen and a

substrate on which to reside. There are quite a few means in which this is done. Secondary treatment system usually uses a Aeration Tank microorganism culture completely degrades inorganic impurities as well as organic in the presence of Surface Aerators or Diffused Aeration system.

Tertiary treatment The purpose of tertiary treatment would be to provide a final treatment period to increase the effluent quality before it is discharged to the receiving

environment (sea, river, lake, ground, etc.). More than one tertiary treatment procedure may be used at any given sewage treatment plant. It's always the final procedure, if disinfection is practiced. Additionally it is called “effluent polishing.
