WHS Parents The last few weeks of the school year are an exciting time, but they are also stressful for many students. Recognizing this, Waterford High School will be hosting an assembly for our students this Friday featuring writer, comedian, and mental health activist Kevin Breel. Thanks to the generous support of the Brian Dagle Foundation, Kevin will be bringing his honest and inspiring message to students at both Waterford High School and East Lyme High School. In case your children come home talking about him, here is some background information on Kevin Breel from his website: As a 19 year old, Kevin’s passionate TEDx talk entitled “Confessions of a Depressed Comic” went instantly viral- with more than half a million views in less than 30 days. It sparked a reaction around the world and amassed more than 4,000,000 viewers and features on more than 200+ media outlets. Mashable called it “a moment that brought the world together” and Upworthy said “this talk could save so many lives”. Now, Kevin’s talk is one of the most watched TED talks ever – alongside talks from the likes of Steve Jobs, Bill Gates and Sir Ken Robinson. The response to that talk has launched him in to doing more activism than ever. Bringing a personality full of warmth, humor and unparalleled honesty around the topics people tend not to talk about, Kevin has become an in demand guest speaker at colleges, corporations and events all over the North America and Europe. Thanks for your support of our efforts to meet both the academic and personal needs of our students, Andre Hauser WHS Principal
