Through your financial support we were able to provide our faculty and staff resources needed to innovate and enhance curriculum, create exciting new learning opportunities and programs, and invest in enhancements to the overall liberal arts experience at Waterford.

• We meaningfully increased the number of students receiving financial aid and celebrated the addition of a new named endowed scholarship that will provide full tuition assistance.

As we reflect on the achievements of the past year, animated by the powerful Waterford Annual Fund theme of Unlocking the Possibilities of Purpose, I write to convey our deep and abiding gratitude for your generous support. Philanthropy’s root definition is in service to humankind and so perfectly aligns with our 2023-2024 school year theme of Purpose and our school-wide vision to inspire lives of meaning… and purpose! While each day we work to unlock, within our students, the capacity to think critically, to write persuasively, to analyze and synthesize, our ultimate aim—beyond superb preparation for college and university study—is to inspire in each student a deep love of learning and the responsibility to contribute to the communities in which they live. A strong culture of philanthropy
at Waterford is central to this goal—and your generosity and support enable us to provide the foundation upon which a life of fulfillment can be built.
On August 24, we will host a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new Student Commons, the result of the historic Waterford Rises capital campaign. And with this annual report, we joyfully celebrate the record-setting results of the 2023-2024 annual fund. From increased student access, to supporting our talented faculty, to an ever-expanding breadth of program, every gift increases the efficacy and impact of our mission. Meaningful Student Experiences
Thanks to your support, our World Languages Faculty participated in a powerful workshop on student-led teaching strategies, and are already implementing key learnings in their classrooms. They discovered a way to shift the strategy around their teaching so that it centers their students’ comprehension and understanding, as opposed to outcomes. Students are now gaining a deeper knowledge of the language, and are inspired to take charge of their own learning.

Through your generosity, our Class III, IV, and V music instructor, Matt Robertson, was able to continue his incredible work of helping students find their unique voice and build their confidence through singing. Matt’s professional development experience with Seth Keeton, Head of Vocal Pedagogy at the University of Utah, impacted his classroom as he learned more
about the unique aspects of the lungs that affect a person’s voice, helping his students to see gains in their singing, and ultimately build their confidence as people and singers. He mentored his students to work together and bring their most beautiful voices into the Heuston Concert Hall for everyone in the Waterford community to enjoy.

By making a gift to the Waterford Fund, you helped students access a Waterford education. Your support strengthens our commitment to building a community of learners that is talented, driven, and from a broad range of backgrounds independent of their financial circumstances. This year, in addition to helping increase the number of students receiving financial assistance by 33%, our community came together to collectively fund two full tuition scholarships through gifts to the Scholarship Fund.
