The Thames has wended its way through our city since it was a tiny village. This year the Totally Thames festival will celebrate our wonderful river with a month of events by the river. Right here in West London, Watermans brings you the River Weekender, the first of our Autumn season. There will be outdoor cinema and cocktails on our riverside terrace, magical music and mayhem for children, delicious cake and ice cream, not to mention a whale with a mini-theatre in its belly. You can drop in to all the free activities, or book with our Box Office. And book two or more events* in advance at the same time and you’ll get 15% off the total ticket price! So step out with your friends and family and enjoy a day of fun by the Thames. * This includes all ticketed events, but sadly excludes Arts 'n' Crafts Family Workshop

The River Weekender is part of Totally Thames – an exciting new, month-long arts and cultural celebration of London’s river. www.totallythames.org

Ages 4–8 Sat 20 Sept • 10am, 11.15am, 2pm & 3.15pm Sun 21 Sept • 10am & 11.15am Ages 2–3 Sun 21 Sept • 2pm & 3.15pm Our River Thames has enjoyed visits from fishermen, traders and pirates for centuries! Who can imagine what treasures have fallen overboard and lie beneath its gentle flow. Join Old Father Thames as he tells the stories of the River and help him and his band of merry River Scavengers to hunt for treasure for the Goddess Isis. She has protected the river for 100s of years and is said to visit the waterside once a year. Children will hear exciting stories from a master storyteller, learn a dance and a song as they hunt for Isis, and make sparkly treasure to offer to her. They will start in Studio 1 and go on an adventure through the centre down to our special riverside treasure trove. Familiar faces at the Polka Theatre and Horniman Museum, this is the first time Tea Dance for Little People will present an interactive adventure at Watermans.

Crossings Sat 20 & Sun 21 Sept All day • FREE There is a space, halfway across a river, when the sights and sounds of one side are balanced perfectly by those of the other. We are suspended between the leaving and arriving, the to and the fro. Bridges, ferries and tunnels are all means by which we can cross a river. Crossings is an installation by Jonathan McCree and Paul Statham, which uses painting, sound and video, to explore these crossings on the River Thames. This multisensory, interactive installation has been designed especially for Studio 2 at Watermans and promises to delight adults and children alike.
