elcome to Watermark’s seventh annual Wedding Guide. Even six years later it is still exciting to me that we are even able to produce something like this. I can remember a time when we would sit around the Watermark office and try to imagine a world where we could legally marry the person we loved. For all of us, it was unimaginable. We all agreed one day the LGBTQ community would achieve this goal, but none of us thought it would happen in our lifetime. This year is special for me. On April 25, 2021 I married

Services We Provide Permanent Hair Removal

Skin Assessment Consultation

Spa Facials

For patients in need of permanent or long-term inhibition of hair growth, electrolysis and laser hair removal have proven to be very effective. Beautiful You medispa offers both of these services, using the highest quality equipment and techniques.

Our spa technicians are extraordinarily skilled in assessing your skin to determine the best treatment options for improving your skin. Whether you want to manage acne, rosacea, dry or dehydrated skin, sun damage, or pigmentation issues – or a combination of any of these – Beautiful You offers solutions.

The Beautiful You Medispa offers four customized facials for various skin types, designed to improve the tone and texture of your skin.

Chemical Peels Chemical peels use a chemical solution that will cause the skin to “blister” and peel, revealing smoother, less wrinkled skin. Our patients find a chemical peel to be very effective in reducing fine lines, treating wrinkles caused by sun damage and aging, minimizing mild scares, reducing melasma, and treating some acne.

Dermaplaning We offer dermaplaning, an effective treatment to help improve skin impacted by acne scars, dryness, sun-damage, or fine wrinkles. An exfoliating blade removes dead skin cells and hair from your face, resulting in smoother skin and a more youthful appearance.

Microneedling Also known as collagen induction therapy, Microneedling uses small needles to prick the skin which helps to generate new collagen and skin tissues, delivering smoother and firmer skin. It can reduce the visible effects of aging and sun damage and can also reduce the appearance of acne scars and stretch marks. We recommend trying this for anti-aging and other skin damage before considering invasive cosmetic surgery.

Call us today at (407) 702-9179 and ask about our special wedding packages, or visit us online at beautifulyoumedispa.com.

your bridesmaids or groomsmen while you and your partner are the center of attention. If you have a pet who isn’t used to being around large groups of people then training your pet to behave during the ceremony is going to be an important step and should be done at least a month before your wedding to ensure that there won’t be any mishaps. For those canines and felines who can contribute more than just a pretty face, you can also give your pet a role during the ceremony. Popular roles in the ceremony for your pet include making them the ring bearer or a flower girl. You can attach the rings around the collar and have them strut their stuff down the aisle. For larger breed dogs, you can teach them to hold a basket in their mouth, either containing the rings or flower petals. Imagine the heartwarming moment as your guests watch your good boy walking down the aisle, basket in mouth, while your young flower girl pulls petals from the basket to drop to the ground. How precious. Another option for your pets, while the couple is off greeting guests or doing touchups after the ceremony is to have your pet greet guests at the entrance of the reception. It’s an exciting experience for the pet to meet so many people and the guests are pleasantly surprised by a dressed-up pet. For a more

Sometimes it can be difficult to physically bring pets to venues — either the venue doesn’t allow pets, attending the event is too overwhelming for them or maybe you have a special pet that you lost. If that’s the case, there are still ways to have them present at your big day. Incorporating the likeness of your pet into centerpieces, wedding invitations and the cake topper are all easy ways your pet can be present without them being at the wedding physically. Etsy is a great place to find sellers who create customized art pieces for couples looking to add the likeness of their pets into their wedding. your pets for the guests to take pictures with. Pets can also play a role in other events leading up to the wedding like the bridal shower, engagement party and first looks. Events that take place months before the wedding like the engagement party are a good time to take photos with your pet. With fewer people to cater to, you’re able to devote more time taking care of your pets’ needs. Including pets during the photography session is always popular. Dressing them up in formal attire and having them included in the photoshoot is one of the best ways to commemorate the experience. Sometimes making your pet wear a dress or suit is too uncomfortable for them, some alternatives to this is to add flowers on the collar to match with the flowers from the bride’s bouquet or a bandana with the couple’s name on it.

where your pet is kept at one location is the best option — there is less of a hassle dealing with the crowd, the venue and of course your pets’ needs. However, if you know your pet can handle being in a new environment there are ways they can be more involved in your wedding. Couples with large animals like horses, donkeys and even alpacas have ridden them down the aisle at outdoor weddings. Couples have trained their pet birds to fly in and bring Get help The idea of including your pets in your wedding seems like a cute idea but with the stress of planning it can be hard to bring the idea to fruition. As easy as it seems to include your pet in your wedding, there are a lot of unforeseen issues that can occur the day of or throughout the planning process. Having a friend, family member or professional handler keep an eye on your pet is an easier and better way rather than handling them throughout the day yourself to make the experience easier for you and your pet.

to add them in your wedding and deciding how involved you would like them to be. “We plan the day on how [the couple] wants to include them and their pets’ personalities and then customize from there,” Mobley says. “High energy dogs, we pick them up hours before they’re needed--more anxious pets are brought in during more quiet periods like first looks.” By gauging what your pet feels comfortable with, it’s easier to plan your wedding when you figure out their energy and anxiety levels ahead of time — which makes the

Others have even made a dazzling entrance to their reception party with their pet boa constrictor to Britney Spears’ iconic song “I’m A Slave 4 U” in homage to her 2001 VMA’s performance. As crazy as these ideas seem, the couples all found memorable and fun ways to incorporate their pets into their weddings. At the end of the day, including your pet will let you be able to look back at that special day with wonderful memories shared between you and your partner. However, before you make any decisions, you’ll need to keep in mind your pets’ needs, what the venue allows and how comfortable your guests feel around your pet. With all these suggestions in mind,

When they’re craving a little less New York City, and a little more Florida, Wekiwa Springs is only about 30 minutes away from downtown Orlando. The natural springs are a spot to elope for many, and a great two-man (or twowoman) day trip. The waters are always chilled and blue and offer a getaway from the bustle of O-Town. Closer to home, Lake Eola is an evergreen walkable circle with sensational swan boats and the occasional indie market. Once it’s time to get back to the Bohemian’s mirrored walls and velvet drapes, the hotel shimmers at night. Occasionally, the rooftop garden is booked for weddings and other special events, but when it’s not, couples can enjoy the luxury of an urban greenhouse. Visitors can request not only the standard room service, but boutique experiences such as a planned picnic in downtown’s green space, curated by hotel staff. It’s the definition of luxury: a premeditated lunch that you and your partner can show up to without dirtying a newly ringed finger.

to decide where everything will go, bring your photographer with you. “Taking your photographer with you will allow them you see how things are laid out,” Todd says. “This will allow them to know exactly what kind of equipment they’ll need to bring with them on the day. Every place is different, they may need to add lighting or bring different equipment depending on where everything will be.”

Do you vibe? Something that can be a huge lifesaver during your wedding day or can be a disaster in waiting is how you and your photographer get along with each other. Emotions will be running high on the day and your photographer will be there for most of it, so you want to make sure you find PHOTO BY DYLAN TODD

one who can put you at ease and makes you feel comfortable. “Nowadays, the easiest thing to do at first is a Zoom call with the photographer,” Todd suggests. “You want to have a conversation CONTINUED FROM PG.28

and airy. Washed out greens, really bright, white on white. The next is a commercial

Are you available? First and foremost, you need to make sure your photographer will be free on your wedding day. To be sure you’ll be able to book the photographer you want, Todd says you need to be looking six to eight months before the big day, even sooner than that if you have a particular date that is sure to be a popular one for weddings. “Dates that have fun or repetitive numbers are always popular wedding dates,” Todd says. “If you are looking to get married on 2/2/22 for example, you’re going to want to start talking to photographers a least 12 months before your wedding day.” If you have your heart set on getting married on 1/2/34, you may want to start looking for a wedding photographer now.

What style are you looking for? When picking a photographer, you want to make sure they can shoot in the style you want for your photographs. Are you looking for classic, traditional wedding photos? Do you want your photos to capture more of a dramatic look? Do you want it to look like a fashion magazine or more candid? “When looking at different photographers, you’ll run into three main styles,” Todd says. “The main one is light

approach, you’ll see more come through in color and tone. The third is an artistic approach, which is pretty much everything else.” Not sure what style you are going for? Pull together samples of wedding photographs that you like and ask yourself what it is you like about them. Show those samples to your potential photographers and don’t be afraid to ask questions. The only dumb question is one not asked when it comes to locking down the perfect photographer.

Where’s the wedding? Where you are getting married and holding the reception are very important to know when selecting a photographer and your style of photos. “Think about what your venue is like or what your décor is like. Are you having a rustic farm wedding or are you doing a really posh rooftop wedding?” Todd says. “You should ask your photographer, especially if they are experienced, if they have photographed any weddings before in your chosen venue or at the specific location you want to get married. If they have, ask to see some of their samples.” After you have selected a venue, you will be doing several walkthroughs before your big day. When you both do the walkthrough

with them and see if you all mesh well together. If that goes well then consider setting up an engagement photo session.” If your photographer offers engagement photos, that session can be a great trial run for the wedding day, giving everyone the opportunity to directly work together and see how it goes. “You can find out in that moment, the couple doing what they do and the photographer doing what they do, if that’s really going to work for the wedding day,” Todd says. “Typically, couples want to include these photos with the engagement announcement or wedding invitations, so when you’re at that six-month mark, that’s a great time to see if you all will work well together.”

Can you show me your work? In today’s social media age, it is easy to find samples of a wedding photographer’s work as they have undoubtedly shared images on their company Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Still, you should make sure they are sharing with you more than just samples. “When you look on a photographer’s social media or through their sample photographs, you’re going to find a lot of similar shots,” Todd says. “They will be filled with couples posing and smiling at CONTINUED ON PG. 34 | uu |

the camera, which I’m sure will be beautiful and will be some of the types of photos you will want, but if you are hiring them for the whole day, you’re going to want to see photos from the whole day.” Todd says don’t be afraid to ask for more than what they are initially showing you. “Ask them to send you a full wedding to preview,” he continues. “You not only want to see how they shoot those formal photos but also what moments are you capturing throughout the day.” Also, make sure to ask your photographer what their approach is. “How does the photographer work when they get there?” Todd asks. “Do they get there and immediately set everything up or do they go with the flow? Do they pose everything? Are they very much a documentarian with their photography or are they very staged? Will they have an assistant coming in who will help to fluff the dress or make sure all the ties are straight?”

How diverse is their work? Not only do you want to make sure your photographer takes a diverse number of photos throughout your wedding day when you are reviewing their samples, but you also want to make sure they have a diverse portfolio when it comes to the types of couples they photograph. “You want to make sure your photographer is comfortable photographing same-sex weddings,” Todd says. “Depending on the types of photos you are after, posing
