Our status. We state it when we’re asked “How are you?” We type it out in 140 characters or less. We portray an image of ourselves that we want others to see, but if authenticity was a currency, would we all be broke? Humanity has an ancient addiction to personal adaptations of success and a monstrous propensity to go to outrageous lengths to attain it. Success isn’t bad: we’ve chased it since the beginning of time...the forbidden fruit, a new land, a stronger empire, a more beautiful reflection, a better business...but when our version of success is un-centered, are we humble or vulnerable enough to reevaluate, recalibrate, recenter? Explore this and more with #WINNING.

Connection Card :: your key to community

Whether this is your first Transit or your fiftieth, we’re glad you joined us this morning. Transit is only a small part of what makes up Watershed - we have Blocs that meet during the week, justice opportunities, and lots of other fun and exciting ways to get involved. If you would like to connect more deeply with our community, fill out the Connection Card and circle any Blocs or volunteer opportunities you might be interested in. We’d love the chance to get to know you and help you find the best place to get plugged in.

The Orange Room :: for moms and young ones

These days it seems as if there are kids everywhere, and we’re excited to have so many new young ones on the scene! If it is necessary for your child to remain with you in Transit, consider taking advantage of The Orange Room should your child become restless or noisy. The Orange Room (located near the entrance to Greenhouse in the lobby) is equipped with comfortable seating, a speaker so that you can still listen to Transit, and privacy to allow you to manage the needs of your little one free of distractions or limitations.

Ten Minute Huddle :: right after Transit

If you have a question, would like to speak to someone personally, or would like to have someone pray with you, consider attending the “Ten Minute Huddle” at the close of Transit this morning. It’s hosted by our Watershed leadership community and is located to the left side of the stage just in front of the screen. It would be our privilege to speak with with you and lift up your concern in prayer.

The 407 Book Drive :: one book for every student at Byers

The 407 Book Drive has been an exciting project - we’ve given out all our cards, and just need to collect all the books to bring them to the school. We’ll be collecting books before and after Transit today and next weekend - don’t forget to put your card in the book (so we know what grade level it’s for) and to write a short inspirational message in the cover to let the kids know someone supports and believes in them. If you’d still like to help, you can buy a book and bring it back next weekend - contact Scott Miller at scottm@watershedcharlotte.com for more info.

West Virginia trip :: August 3rd-7th

Watershed will be returning to West Virginia this Summer! From August 3rd-7th, Watershed will again be partnering with Habitat for Humanity in Parkersburg, WV to repair a home for a family in need. The group will work on the house during the day, and at night we’ll camp out at Mountainwood park to play games and enjoy dinner by the campfire. The cost of the trip will be $165 - if you’re interested in learning more or joining this year’s trip, contact Dan Bailey at jdbailey704@gmail.com, or circle the icon on the connection card.

(see back for meeting times/contact info)

Prime Time :: lunch after Transit :: benefit concert at the Double Door at 2:00pm The PrimeTime Bloc will be meeting for lunch after Transit on May 15th, and then heading over to the Double Door Inn at 2:00pm for a benefit concert with the band Underground Detour. Tickets for the show are $8, with all proceeds going to benefit A Child’s Place, an organization that works to help homeless kids in Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools. Contact Pam and Gene if you’d like more information or want to join us!

Street Soccer 945 is the first year-round soccer program for those struggling with homelessness and poverty in the United States. It uses healthy living, support from a community of teammates, and mentoring relationships as key ingredients to achieving life goals and overall well-being. Soccer has proven to be a remarkable tool for delivering these elements to people caught in the trap of homelessness. For more information on how to get involved. visit www.streetsoccer945.org or email Jonathan George at jgeorge@urbanministrycenter.org

Hope Teams

Hope Teams, a partnership with the W.I.S.H Program, are groups of 4-6 people within Watershed who provide mentoring friendships to a family in transition. A Hope Team provides relationships, encouragement and emotional support to families transitioning out of homelessness and moving into a more selfsufficient life. Hope Teams require a short training and a 1-year commitment from each team member. For information on initial Hope Team training dates or to learn more about the program, circle the icvon on your connection card or email Jamie McCollum at jamiemccollum@gmail.com

The 407 Book Drive We want every student at Byers to know that they are important and valued, and to have the opportunity to read at least one book this summer. To reach our goal, we’ll be collecting books that we can give to the students to take home when school ends, and we’d like to put an encouraging note to the kids in each book so that they know someone supports and believes in them. Take a card on your way out today, buy a book for the grade level listed (there are a few suggestions on the card, but other books are good too), write an inspirational note inside the front cover and bring it to Transit - we’ll collect the books each Sunday until May 22nd, and then bring them to the teachers at Byers to distribute in class. For more information, email Scott Miller at scottm@watershedcharlotte.com.

The group works on the house during the day, and camps out at night to relax, play games, and enjoy dinner by the campfire. The Man Show will be returning soon to give guys an opportunity to hang out and build friendships on a deeper level. Circle the icon on your connection card for more information, and the Bloc leaders will let you know how you can get involved.
