This unique venture is the brainchild of Helen Hannigan who has created a special service for cosmetic and health issues for both men and women alike. Helen previously worked at a large salon in Solihull and after just one year there decided to create Waterside Aesthetics. She is a qualified medical professional with a background as a clinical leader working throughout the NHS. Her career has spanned over 25 years and has included A&E nursing, coronary care and district nursing to name but a few. HydraFacial
DermaRoller
The “HydraFacial” treatment is the newest advance in non-laser skin resurfacing. HydraFacial is the only hydradermabrasion procedure that combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration and antioxidant protection simultaneously, resulting in clearer, more beautiful skin with no discomfort or downtime. The treatment is soothing, moisturizing, non-invasive and non-irritating. Dermaroller treatment is a procedure of skin needling which stimulates the body to produce collagen. It is sometimes referred to as collagen induction or stimulation therapy. The treatment involves puncturing the skin with a roller containing a series of fine very sharp needles. Clinical studies have shown that this treatment is as effective as skin resurfacing using a fraxel or CO2 laser and high-grade chemical peels. The procedure is undertaken by a qualified practitioner, and uses a local anaesthetic cream.

This treatment is aimed at stimulating collagen to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Evidence from clinical trials showed an increased reduction in skin scarring caused by acne, stretch marks, sun damage and uneven skin tone. Many practitioners have used this treatment for hair restoration in cases of alopecia (hair loss/thinning). The procedure involves a medical grade roller used by a practitioner within the clinic. Treatment is then continued at home using a non-medical grade roller. Most people require at least three treatments with the medical Dermaroller, usually six weeks apart. The Salt-A-Peel™ Treatment Microdermabrasion is a procedure that can be used to combat a wide variety of skin conditions. It involves removing the top layer of dead cells from the surface of the skin, thereby accelerating the renewal cycle of the skin and leaving it refreshed and renewed. The Salt-A-Peel™ treatment uses natural salt as the abrasive, leaving the skin beautifully clean and polished. With its natural healing powers, salt is great for the skin and also helps to re-balance its moisture levels. After the treatment, the dermaphoresis masque is applied to the area and massaged in using ultrasound. The masque is AHA and vitamin based allowing deep penetration to encourage collagen and elastin production. The results are instant and unlike chemical peels, microdermabrasion does not usually require a preparation prior to treatment. IMPROVE THE APPEARANCE OF FINE LINES & WRINKLES, REDUCE ACNE AND SCARRING... How does a Chemical Peel work? The choice of which peel we recommend depends upon your skin’s condition and sensitivity in relation to the results that you desire. The acids in these peels remove dead cells from the surface of the skin and stimulate new cell growth, making a visible difference to the look and feel of your skin. The lighter peels can achieve improvement without any significant recovery time and with minimal complications. Medium strength peels will cause some significant flaking of the skin but can achieve better results. What happens during the treatment and how long will it take to recover? The treatment is usually pain free, but you may feel a mild stinging or burning sensation during the peel application. Your first discussion with our practitioner should clearly set out your expectations and what the practitioner thinks will happen to your skin as a result of peel treatments. We recommend that your skin is primed for at least two weeks before undergoing treatment using carefully selected products which could include SkinCeuticals Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) or SESHA. This at-home treatment helps to improve the condition of your skin and will alert us to any sensitivity prior to a peel procedure.
What is it? Botox® is a natural purified protein which relaxes and low dose injections weaken the muscles, softening lines and helping to break the habits that cause facial lines to form. What happens next? After an initial consultation and examination, muscles are injected using a tiny needle which is easily tolerated by most patients. The procedure takes only a matter of minutes and any marks from the needles fade shortly after, usually leaving no visible signs. Pre- and post-procedural advice and guidelines will be given to all clients. Clients may start to notice an effect after two to five days but this can vary between patients. The full result can take up to two weeks from the procedure. Duration varies by patient and depends on the severity of the condition being treated but most people starting out can expect full effect for around three months before it gradually diminishes. Experience has shown that most people see longer lasting effects the more treatments they have. The important thing to note is the interval between injections - if you allow full motion back before the next injection you may not see any lengthening of the effect.
The actual procedure is straightforward - the skin is usually cleaned and the selected peel will be applied. Most clients find that they can return to work immediately after treatment.

Laser is a pure form of light consisting of only one wavelength. Different wavelengths have different penetration and absorption properties on the skin. In general, the higher the wavelength, the deeper the laser’s penetration. Different structures within the skin respond to different wavelengths of laser. As the structures within the skin absorb the laser energy, they heat up and are destroyed. Since each structure responds to a different wavelength, we can selectively heat and destroy certain structures within the skin without having much effect on the other skin structures.
