CAVALCADE

a significant and historic part of the canal network. This was a very large undertaking because mayors were not supposed to go through one another’s’ areas and needed special permission - and so many boroughs had waterways going through them. These days we only manage one Mayor, the Lord Mayor of Westminster, who arrives aboard Laburnum Boat Club's Lady Mildmay, with her entourage and VIPs from IWA and supporters and stakeholders of Canalway Cavalcade.

There have been many themes over the years and many interesting and amusing efforts by the attending boaters to interpret them, as you can see from the accompanying photos.

We hope you’ll celebrate with us the joy that waterways can bring to everyone in so many ways and that you will support Inland Waterways Association’s campaign to Protect Our Waterways, so that we can continue to enjoy them well into the future.
