Delivering progress through quality
Our expertise in the energy sector
In a sector that is constantly changing, so are we. Introduction The energy industry continues to generate great debate, particularly since the Energy Act 2013 came into effect with far reaching repercussions for the sector. A complex, fast moving sector needs knowledgeable, pragmatic and responsive lawyers.
Watson Burton strives to understand your business and add value through legal and strategic expertise. Chambers Legal Directory 2014
At Watson Burton, our cross-disciplinary team provides first class legal services to some of the country’s largest energy and infrastructure providers. Our clients operate in renewable, nuclear, fossil fuel, electricity, gas and solar. By understanding the commercial aspects of your business and using our own knowledge of upcoming changes to the law we can help to ensure that your business is ready to adapt to changes within this fast paced sector. The types of work we undertake for these clients include planning, property, employment, corporate and commercial matters. The team has recently advised the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, Atkins plc’s energy division on its acquisition strategy in the oil and gas sector, and one of the UK’s largest electricity distributors on strategic employment matters.
Our approach Our approach is summarised by the following: • Delivering Solutions • Managing Costs • Openness and Transparency • Project Management At the outset of any project we always agree with our clients the key tasks, and timescales for completing them. We are used to working with clients to produce detailed project plans, highlighting any time critical inputs required from third parties and any contingency plans as necessary. We keep all our project plans updated as work progresses, and adapt them in the light of feedback received and any changes to legislation we think may affect the businesses we work with.
Credentials Below are some examples of projects we have worked on with clients in the energy and renewables sector. This is just a flavour of the type of work we undertake for our clients and we would be happy to provide additional details on these projects, or indeed contact details for our clients should you wish to get a personal view of what it is like to work with us.
