ABOUT ________________________________________________ My name is Watta P. Konneh, an architectural graduate from the Stella Maris Polytechnic University where I obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Architectural Engineering. My portfolio is a body of work that displays my journey through Architecture school and my professional career. During my undergraduate study, I developed an interest in design and presentation drawing. I was taught the principles of design and space planning, which included both interior and exterior spaces. In my home country, the educational system is currently striving especially in the engineering sector; consequently, there are not many infrastructures and recreational spaces in Liberia. However, the challenges didn’t hinder my pursuit of acquiring architectural knowledge. I am culturally oriented and passionate about understanding people and creating a safe and conducive space. Architecture enables me to express myself and connect with different people by translating my ideas and thoughts through design. Studying the principles of architecture and understanding design development has helped me to navigate my path. Thus, I am looking forward to obtaining a Master of Arts in Architecture and Design.

CULTURAL CENTER This project was done in 2021 during my senior year at the Stella Maris Polytechnic University. It is a cultural center inspire by a modern Architectural style. The building is divided into three sections. It comprises of a library, theater and a Museum. The site that the building is situated on is very narrow, and the building was design to accommodate a lot of people. Because of that, I created a parking lot on portion of the ground floor while the other half of the ground floor consist of reception, kitchen and storage. On the left of the upper floor is the library and Museum, in the middle is a multipurpose floor, and on the right is the theater.

WOODWORK-SHOP One of my projects that introduced me to industrial Architecture and its components was a wood workshop project I designed in 2021. This design displayed the floor of the passage and gave directions to different connection points. There’s a loading and offloading bay to receive and take off wood and other factory materials. The interior of the workshop consists of a wood storage area, tools cabinets, a machine, a finishing and package area, a clocking room, a showroom, and an office. Thus giving a functional workspace.

PEDIATRIC HOSPITAL This work was done during the COVID –19 period. I was inspired to do a pediatric hospital for my school project, because we do not have a quaternary facility setup to cater to various types of diseases such as leukemia here in Liberia, and a lots of kids and adults have lost their lives due to the lack of specialized and advance health care. This pediatric hospital is a typical design drawn in a shape of a flower with leaves branching out. Each leave comprises of different floors that are layout for different activities. The circular shape is used as a flow of circulation and major exit and entry point.

03

OUT PATIENT CLINIC This L-Shape Out-Patient Clinic is small but convenient for certain group of people within proximity. This is a school project that was done in 2021. It is simply layout in an orderly manner with rooms position opposite each other.

04

WATER TANK DESIGN This is one my very first AutoCAD work I did in 2018. This tank was design for a farm and has been built.

05

AIRPLANE HANGER This project was done in 2022, when I worked at Comprehensive Design Consultants Inc. This hanger was design to hold a single plane.

06

3D’s Manual Model I love to make Architecture models. It makes my projects feel alive. These are some of the projects I did during my architecture program. Obtaining materials for building models is quite difficult in Liberia, Hence, 80% of materials used were hand made. The model above is a presentation model that was built for an Architecture Exhibition. The other sets on the right are contour models. The first two at the upper right hand was made out of a mesh wire and tissue paper using wood glue. The idea behind this was to illustrate how erosion affects nature. The last two models at the bottom was done using cardboard. This model shows how water flows between land.

07

APARTMENTS 3D’s RENDER While working at the Comprehensive Design Consultants Inc, part of my work included 3D’s rendering. This is a 30 units apartment building that was designed by Architect Robert A. Gray and rendered by me.

08

3D’s OFFICE BUILDING RENDER As my 3D’s skill improved, I continue to practice even more. This is an office building project that was designed by an Architect and render by me. The design was altered three times, because the designer wanted to explore.
