Waverley Care is Scotland’s leading charity providing support to people living with HIV. If you are living with HIV, or are a friend, family member, partner or carer of someone living with HIV, Waverley Care is here for you. We offer support in a safe environment and can provide information and advice. We can also help if you just want to know more about HIV and other blood borne viruses such as Hepatitis, including how these conditions may affect you. Our services are available to everybody, regardless of gender, race or age.
Our services Our wide range of services aims to reduce transmission of HIV and help people living with HIV to live life to the full. Prevention services • Free condoms by post Condoms delivered to your home every month completely free and confidentially. Simple text ordering service. • Outreach and support to men who have sex with men Providing advice and resources for safer sex. • Sexual health advice Advice on sexually transmitted infections and viruses that you can catch from other people’s blood. Services for groups and professionals These services offer support to people who work with those who are at a higher risk of HIV infection: • Information and advice to groups Support to groups representing people living with HIV or who might be at additional risk of HIV... • Training for professionals and carers Courses about HIV, Hepatitis, sex and the law, understanding the needs of different minority communities...

Support services for people living with HIV You can be assured of confidentiality and a safe place to talk. We’re here to support you with: • Your physical health and treatment Medication and side effects, exercise and healthy eating... • Your emotional health Improving self-esteem, feeling less isolated, dealing with stigma and discrimination... • Meeting other people living with HIV Speaking to someone who understands and can say ‘me too’, making new friends... • A new diagnosis Thinking positively about the future, understanding treatment, preventing onward transmission... • Disclosing to family, friends and partners If and how to tell people, dealing with different responses... People can also access national Waverley Care services which include: • African health support For African communities and individuals. • Children and young people’s support For those under 18 living with HIV in Scotland. • Network Alba Connecting women in Scotland living with HIV.

Volunteers Volunteers play a key part in Waverley Care’s work. Volunteers carry out a wide range of roles from supporting our sexual health outreach programme to reception/administration tasks and fundraising, right through to offering complementary therapies.
