Flying was fun at the old Mt. Holly airport By Alan Hodge alan@cfmedia.info
Editors note- The story in the May 7, 2020 edition of the BannerNews about the former Belmont airport brought a response from aviator Eddie Blackwood about a similar dirt landing strip that operated back in the day near Mt. Holly. Lifelong Mt. Holly resident Eddie Blackwood,78, got bitten by a bug when he was a teenager- the flying bug- and it still nibbles on him to this day. The bug’s first bite came at the former Mt. Holly airport that was a couple of miles from town on Hwy. 27 across from where Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery is currently located. “The airport was on the other side of the railroad tracks where the Dixon Heights housing development is now,” Blackwood said. “It was a grass and dirt strip about 2,000 feet long and about seven to ten planes were based there. When you landed you had to be careful of the power lines and railroad tracks.” Blackwood’s best guess is the strip operated from the late 1940s to the early 1960s. As a teen, he and two
pals became regulars. “My friends Jim Fuller and Doug Stowe rode our bicycles to the airport,” he said. “We would hang out there. We were airport bums.” Blackwood recalled there being a “terminal” of sorts there. “It was basically a little shack,” he said. “Inside on a wall there was a large aviation map with a string and nail in the center that you could use to plot a course. There was also a gas pump. It was one of those old type with a glass cylinder.” Folks could take flying lessons at the Mt. Holly airport and rent planes too. The planes were cloth covered “taildraggers”. “A Piper J3 Cub rented for six dollars an hour and a Super Cub for ten dollars,” Blackwood recalled. Blackwood availed himself of the lessons which added two dollars an hour to the fee. The man that taught him was famed aviator Bill Hawley. “I soloed on January 11, 1968,” Blackwood said. “Bill let me solo after five and a half hours of instruction. I was sixteen years old.” See AIRPORT, Page 3

Hot Hole a hot spot for fishing By Alan Hodge alan@cfmedia.info
“There’s monsters in there.” That’s what Sam Duncan of Gastonia said as he baited his hook and then pointed to the greenish waters of the famed Hot Hole fishing spot near Belmont. The Hot Hole, or more formally, the Allen Fishing Area is located in just off Canal Rd. which is on South Point Rd. The Duke Energy owned Project Recreation Site consists of two fishing piers and a bank fishing trail. The site has a paved parking lot. The Project Recreation Site is managed through a partnership with the NCWRC for operation and maintenance activities. The monsters that Duncan referred to are the large See HOT HOLE, Page 6

Since the current health and social distancing situation, a lot of folks will be putting off long distance vacation travel this summer. However, if you think it’s necessary to drive all the way to the mountains for a walk in virgin woodlands or to paddle down a scenic river, then think again because Gaston County has a park just five minutes from downtown Mount Holly where those options and more are available for free. South Fork River Park is located on 44 acres at the end of Mountainview Street off Hickory Grove Road. The park boasts three trails with a total length of about one mile. The main trail, from
the parking area to the South Fork River, was carved from a former dirt roadbed. The trails are broad, smooth, covered with gravel and feature benches where hikers can rest. A picnic table and more benches are on the riverbank where 800 feet of shoreline have been cleared. There’s plenty of nature to enjoy. As you walk the main trail to the South Fork River, you can hear the rapids even before they come into sight. And what a sight it is – the rushing, sparkling whitewater flows over boulders and around an island in the middle of the river. Upstream from the rapids, the waters of the South Fork River are calmer. The smoother water is ideal for canoeing and kayaking, and See PARK, Page 4

My Opinion:
Covid-19 - Now what America?
Who was that masked man?
By Dr. Glenn Mollette
Back in the 1950s there was a very popular TV show called The Lone Ranger. I know this because it was one of my favorites and I would sit in front of the (black and white) TV totally absorbed in the action in much the same way I currently sit in front of the color TV absorbed in the action of Ninety Day Fiance’. The Lone Ranger was a western themed show about a guy who wore a mask and went around righting wrongs. He had a Native American pal named Tonto who called him “Kee-mo-sah-bee. Tonto never said “Joe or “Fred or “Tom he just said “Kee-mo-sah bee. Maybe after the cameras stopped rolling Tonto said Let’s go grab a burger and brewski. Anyway, the Lone Ranger would show up wherever something rotten was going down and after he had whupped the bad guys he would ride off and the townsfolk where the row had taken place would always ask the same question- “who was that masked man? Well fast forward to these recent weeks and that same question “who was that masked man is still applicable only you can add women and kids to the masked mix too. I was at the Mt. Holly Farmer Market and a lot of folks were wearing masks in an attempt to repel COVID19 germs. Several people came up to me and started talking from behind their gauze or bandanna and at first I had not a clue who they were so the Lone Ranger question popped into my head. Masks have become a fashion statement. You see them in all hues, patterns, materials. There are checked ones, striped ones, polka dotted ones, cotton ones, you name it. I think some people believe it makes them look cool to wear one. The mask thing is just one layer of this
America is now opening back up. People are starting to venture back to church. Places of work are reopening. Restaurants are reopening. State parks are reopening. The beaches are opening many places. Most Americans are breathing a sigh of relief. Americans are sick and tired of Covid-19. We’re tired of hearing about it and we’re tired of the repercussions from it. More Americans now are unemployed since The Great Depression. More unemployment claims have been filed than ever before. Many Americans have filed for unemployment weeks ago and still haven’t a penny of money. I continue to hear from people who haven’t received a stimulus check. We are tired of the news and the latest countdown of every county’s death stats from Covid-19. If you want to increase our risk of mental illness just keep watching television eight hours a day as many Americans have been doing. In my town we have to hear about how many have died from every county in three states. Our hearts break and grieve for these families. It’s just tough hearing the stats every day about so many counties in so many different states.
whole pandemic panic. Another thing is the extent to which the state government took control of the lives of citizens. To begin with, I have Alan Hodge Banner-News Editor had serious misgivings about the right of the gubernator to tell people they have to stay cooped up in their homes. This is a denial of liberty and the right of people to make their own life decisions. It is nanny state on steroids. I also have a question about the government saying who can work and when. I wonder who made up the list of what is considered an essential business? Where did that person get that power? Here’s an example- folks in droves have been allowed in big box stores but others such as barbers and hairdressers have had to keep their doors shut. Who cuts gubernator Cooper’s hair? It is always perfectly coiffed. Who is to say that people cannot sit down in a restaurant and have a meal when people in big box stores are elbow to elbow in the aisles. This whole concept is skewed. How can the government say people cannot go to church but it’s OK to go in a big box store and buy whatever you please. Some people say I am a heathen and I act like it on occasion but we need church now more than ever. Hopefully this madness will soon pass, but the rubber glove wearing heavy hand of government in our state that has been holding people down and back has set a precedent that makes me wonder under what circumstances it might be applied in the future.

Toys or tools? By: Shelton Fisher “DO NOT‌ buy any more tools. Just get what we need for this project, alright?â€?, my wife pleads as I take my leave to the hardware store for the umpteenth time for the week. By now they have probably seen me in there more times than I care to admit, and it’s a wonder that the customer service managers have yet to learn my name. I suppose it’s a necessary evil however when updating an old house because we have managed to install new light fixtures, new blinds, a new toilet, new plumbing for the kitchen sink and for the bathtub (which busted under the house, causing a small monsoon but was not beyond repair with a little help), among other fixes to make Maw Maw’s house our home. During all of this, there is something I have tended to notice about myself that I haven’t before. There seems to be this hunger that has churned inside me; quaking and realizing that there are times that I find myself needing tools because my hand-me-downs of prior generations just
won’t work, or that I simply don’t have what I need. My garage, or “buildings as I like to call them, is separated into three sections (hence the plural form). My grandfather used to sell cars that he would purchase at car auctions out of the driveway and set one part up to allow a car to be parked inside of the first section. The second section was his work area where his tools were kept along with his vice and grinder, and the third was for yard tools and storage. After my grandmother’s passing, my father’s tools became a part of the collection in the middle building, and now mine are seeking refuge in their own spot. The crazy thing is that among all of them, there are times that I know for sure amongst all three generations I’m certain we all have owned a specific tool I’ll need on a project and can never find it! Perhaps this isn’t true of everyone, but am I the only one who has grown up with “brand preference towards which tools they buy? For instance, when Sears was still alive and well in what was formerly known as Eastridge Mall, my father was a Crafts-

man connoisseur. If he could have it his way, that’s all he would ever buy unless we were in those instances where there was no other choice. Now that I am stocking my toolbox, I find myself doing the same thing and catch myself each time that I’m at Lowe’s with any Kobalt tool in my cart. My middle building will eventually turn black and blue if I keep it up, but the tools are guaranteed for life so how can I turn it down? That’s right, they claim a “hassle-free lifetime warranty on every Kobalt tool whether it’s power tools or hand tools. Lowe’s now sells Craftsman as well, but I don’t care to purchase any Craftsman tools since my father’s passing. It just doesn’t feel right not coming from Sears. One thing is for certain
a b o u t my collection. A wise man once told me, Shelton Fisher “slowly, slowly, catch the monkey., and in this case a good set can be either bought for a hefty price or built with the journey you take in building your house. I find myself bringing tools in one piece at a time, almost like a kid with a new toy and I’m ready for playtime. Later down the road, I will catch myself needing that tool on a project and I feel accomplished in the sense that I have what I need to get whatever I’m doing done. I suppose that’s what it feels like to “grow up. Just remember to keep things fun no matter what you’re doing.

A group of aviation enthusiasts take in the action at the Mt. Holly airport “terminal”.
Hawley was also an avid radio control model airplane enthusiast and passed that love and knowledge to Blackwood who still has several large models in his garage at home. The love of flying that the Mt. Holly airport instilled in Blackwood prompted him to join the Air Force at age 19 where he became a jet engine mechanic. He went on to a career with Duke Energy where he retired from the marketing department.
These days, Blackwood has his own plane- an Aeronca Champ cloth covered taildragger similar to the Cubs he once flew in Mt. Holly. His flying also echoes those days when it
was low and slow, just making lazy circles and enjoying the scenery below. “I just like to go up and fly to small, local airports,” he said.

Cramerton Parks and Recreation Dept. news... The Cramerton Parks and Recreation Department staff has come up with a great idea to get the spring planting season going. All you need is an empty jug (milk or otherwise), scissors, soil, paint (optional) and seeds/plant (optional). If you do not have a jug or seeds at home, you can email randrea@cramerton.org and we will have them sanitized and ready for pickup. Step 1: Find an empty half gallon or gallon jug. You can use milk or juice. Rinse out with warm water. Step 2: Use a permanent marker to draw the outline of where you plan to cut your milk jug. You can find ideas online if you are struggling with inspiration. Step 3: Have an adult use sharp scissors or an Exacto knife to cut out your design.

How often have we spoken harsh words against someone from a heart of anger? I can recall countless times I have felt the hair rising on the back of my neck as the anger level was rising. It seems the adrenaline is activated, and before we realize it, our mouth begins to speak before our brain can catch up with the words spilling from our lips. Once, I received an email from a friend. I did a quick read through, and as a result of being in a hurry, I misunderstood the email. Instead of slowing down, remaining calm, and reading the email more thoroughly, I called her and unleashed my angst. She tried to explain, but I would not listen. She said, “Angela, please read the email aloud to me.” When I began reading, I saw that I totally misunderstood what she wrote. We sat in silence while I ate crow. Finally, I said, “I am sorry.” She laughed and said, “Slow down, take a breath, and learn to focus.” What a powerful lesson I learned that day. “But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment.” Matthew 12:36 NASB. How can we control the anger and words that are carelessly released? Jewish literature places a premium on measured speech and attentive listening. “But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.” James 1:19-20 NASB.
The great talker is rarely a great listener and never is the ear more firmly closed than when anger takes over. When Stephen Rev. Angela Pleasants was being stoned, District he was filled with Superintendent the Holy Spirit and of Catawba Valley spoke that he saw Methodist Churches Jesus standing at the right hand of God. The people were so filled with anger; they closed their ears and rushed at him with impulse. Anger causes us to act irrationally and speak unjustly, which is a life in contradiction to the righteousness of God. So, how can we control our anger, listen intently, and speak wisely? Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls. But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.” James 1:21-22 NASB. To obey God’s word begins with a full surrender of our heart to God. The Holy Spirit will strengthen us to live according to God’s word. To live in obedience to God, we must commit daily to walking according to his will. We live a life of gratitude daily and remove the distractions that will often come between us and the will of God.
Gaston County plans for use of $3.9 million in COVID-19 relief Gaston County leaders are expressing their gratitude for the work of the General Assembly to provide passthrough federal funding to counties for COVID-19 reimbursement. In Gaston County, that amount totals $3.9 million. “We’re grateful to our team of legislators for fighting hard for the people of Gaston County,” said County Manager Dr. Kim Eagle. “The burdens of the crisis have been felt in many ways, and the financial burden has been felt most acutely here at home by those providing direct services to our citizens.” County staff has already begun the outreach process to the County’s 15 municipalities to learn what their needs are for COVID-19 reimbursement. The County is first applying for other reimbursement for COVID-19 through FEMA, so as to leave
no stone unturned in securing federal dollars to support the significant expenses incurred in Gaston County in battling this crisis. The County has already spent hundreds of thousands of dollars for a variety of critical purchases, including on personal protective equipment for first responders and employees interacting with the public, additional levels of sanitization and health checks at the County Jail and in the purchase of hands-free temperature scanners for multiple county buildings. In addition, it has funded
its CARE Plan with $1 million that goes directly to help residents affected by COVID-19 with essentials such as food, housing and childcare. Many of the expenses the $3.9 million can be used to reimburse will be for purchases still to come as the County continues its efforts to keep its employees and the public safe. Examples of this would be for additional sanitization for public playgrounds at county parks once they reopen and Plexiglas barriers at public service counters in County facilities to help curb the spread of the virus.

Besides the Belmont Hot Hole, Duke Energy has similar fishing setups at McGuire Nuclear Station and Marshall Steam Station. In both places it’s the same deal- warm water and a park like place where anglers can wet a hook in hopes of catching dinner or a thrill or both. Carolina Sportsman Magazine has these Hot Hole tips -
HOT HOLE From Page 1 catfish that are often caught at the Hot Hole by anglers. Other species that are regularly snagged include largemouth bass, crappie, carp, and bream. So, what the heck is the Hot Hole and what makes it so popular with anglers? The Hot Hole is actually the warm water discharge canal for Duke’s Allen Steam Station. What happens is the station draws water from the Catawba River, heats it, uses the steam to turn power generating turbines, the releases the warmed up water into the canal which flows under South Point Rd. then into the South Fork River just to the west. It’s the warm water that draws fish- big fish- especially in cooler months- and in turn, folks who like to fish. The Hot Hole attracts anglers from all over the area. Last Thursday morning, several of them were trying their luck. In addition to Duncan, Jason Poole had driven all the way from Harrisburg for some Hot Hole hoots. He was fishing for big catfish using a whole bream as bait. “I read about the Hot Hole online and decided to come give it a try,” Poole said. “It’s my first time here and I like it so far.” Another person on the Hot Hole shore was Greg Ingram from Gastonia. He had four or five rods ready for action. Tayzha Allen from Charlotte was on the scene with her dog Rozae. Even though the fish-

Tackle and lures used around warm-water discharges vary from lake to lake. The South Fork River on Lake Wylie where the Allen Steam Station’s warm-water discharge is located is often dingy to muddy, offering great spinnerbait fishing. However, most of the warm-water discharges are on relatively clear lakes, which should point fishermen to lighter tackle, including shakey head rigs, tailspinners and blade baits and topwaters and jerkbaits.

who prefer four-wheeled vehicles have a major responsibility to keep riders safe,” said Tiffany Wright AAA Carolinas spokesperson. “As warmer temperatures bring out more riders, motorists have to be extra vigilant and motorcyclists must ride responsibly and take precautions such as wearing bright colors and using headlights day and night to help keep everyone safe.”
Motorcyclists are nearly five times more likely to be injured and 29 times more likely to be killed in a crash than vehicle motorists. May is National Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month and AAA Carolinas is urging motorists and riders to do their part to make roads safer. “We have to remember that motorcyclists are very vulnerable and those of us

Last year in North Carolina, there were 165 fatalities related to motorcycle crashes, up 21% from 2018’s 136. Motorists can help make roads safer for motorcyclists by taking some simple precautions: Be extra cautious on weekends, when motorcyclists take to the road. Provide motorcyclists adequate room to maneuver. Follow at least five to six seconds behind them. Allow extra maneuvering room in areas with potholes, pavement transitions and railroad crossings. Motorcyclists may need to slow down, stop or adjust their lane position. Never try to share a lane with a motorcycle. Motorcycles have the same right to lanes as any other vehicle. Never drive distracted or impaired. If a motorcycle is nearby, check your mirrors carefully before changing lanes. Motorcycles may be in your blind spots or difficult to see because of their smaller size. One of the most common reasons drivers give for cutting off or pulling out in front of a motorcycle is that they “didn’t see it.” Motorcyclists can prevent crashes and injuries by: Keep headlights on day and night (it is the law). Assume motorists can’t see you and make yourself visible. Never ride distracted or impaired. Be aware that riding with a passenger requires more skill. Be courteous; don’t weave in and out of lanes,

God, I just don’t understand By Trent Rankin Salvation Church, Gastonia, NC salvationchurchnc.org pastortrent@salvationchurchnc.org
Years ago, we had a beagle named Lexi. She loved to play outside in the yard with the kids. When my oldest daughter Lillie was a toddler, Lexi would see her in the yard and run to her. She would run as fast as she could. Unfortunately, Lillie would always have her back to her as she approached. Lexi could not stop in time, and she would run right over her. Life is a lot like Lexi and Lillie. We go through life minding our own business, and then we are blindsided by life. That is the way the coronavirus pandemic has been for many people. When these things happen, it is hard for us to understand, and it leaves us with many questions, even as believers. Luke 7:11-17 tells of a time when Jesus visited a small town called Nain. He had left Capernaum and traveled to this town. As he arrived he saw a funeral procession passing through town. A young boy had died. His mother was there, crying uncontrollably. She was a widow, and this was her only son. When Jesus saw her, He told her not to cry. He touched the bed the young boy laid upon saying to him, “Young man, I say to you arise” (Luke 7:14, NKJV). The young boy sat up, and Jesus gave him to his mother. All the people who saw this were amazed, knowing they had been visited by someone special.

They told everyone in the area! This poor widow, like us many times, was blindsided by tragedy. She had already lost her husband, and now out of Rev. Trent Tankin nowhere, her son dies. She had done nothing to deserve such misfortune, yet it came. Out of nowhere, this pandemic has come. Many people were doing nothing wrong, yet they have faced illness, unemployment, and maybe even losing a business of many years. Surely this woman’s faith was shaken. She probably questioned why her life was falling apart. You may be in a similar situation today. Perhaps you are questioning why such tragedy has happened to you. Maybe you just do not understand. The important thing for us is to know Jesus is here! It was no coincidence that Jesus traveled the almost thirty miles from Capernaum to this small town at the exact time this poor widow mourned her son passing by. He was there when she needed Him most. It may seem like our world is crashing down around us, but Jesus is here. His will for us will come to pass. We may not be able to see past our current struggles, we may not understand, yet Jesus already has it planned out. He has seen the end. Like this poor widow, we need to trust. She trusted Jesus to do the impossible, and He did. Trust Him to work in your life today!

Herring to pursue career in counseling Tyazia D. Herring is the current president of the Student Government Association at Gaston College. Her term of office will end with her graduation in May. She enrolled in the College in January 2019, took 15 to 18 credit hours each semester, and will graduate with an Associate in Arts degree. After graduation, Herring plans to transfer to a four-year university — her first choice is North Carolina Central University — to pursue a bachelor’s degree in psychology and then a master’s in counseling. “This past year, I’ve fallen completely in love with psychology, thanks to Lori Metcalf and Sherry Sherrill,” said Herring. out guidance I wouldn’t have made it to where I am now. I am forever grateful that Gaston College has created such an amazing atmosphere of listening ears. I want to be of service to others.” Herring is participating in the 2019-2020 North Carolina Community College Student Leadership Development Program, which enhances leadership quality for community college students and increases their knowledge of soft skills to prepare them for professional and civic responsibilities. “The program has changed my outlook on comfortability,” said Herring. “I created lifelong friends, gained resources to help me become a servant leader and enough fuel to light the fire in me.” A resident of Charlotte, North Carolina, Herring is a full-time mother to her son Tristan, a full-time employee at Novant Health, and a fulltime student at Gaston College. Despite the demands on her time, she took on the position of SGA President with the encouragement of Renita Johnson, the Director of Student Activities and Special Projects at Gaston College. “Becoming SGA President meant the world to me. I never thought I’d have time to commit to the role,” she said. “Ms. Renita’s support and offer of guidance were all I needed to have the confidence to become President.” Her goal as SGA President has been to engage nontraditional students and show them that they have the wherewithal to succeed. “Working with the other executive board and senate members has been the highlight of my tenure as President,” she said. “I want to personally thank each of them for being the best team I could have ever asked for. All of them possess traits that held the SGA together as a positive,
proactive entity. I couldn’t be who I am today without them.” “We sometimes hear that when you’re in college, you are on your own,” said Herring. “At Gaston College, you have every person in your corner that you may need. I’ve never been around so many professional people who are committed to being the absolute best. Every single staff member, including faculty, has been invested in seeing me grow as a student. I never felt alone.” In addition to expressing her appreciation for her fellow SGA board members, Herring extends her gratitude for the support and encouragement she was given by the Gaston College community, including the Board of Trustees; Gaston College President Dr. Patricia Skinner, who retired in February; Renita Johnson and Tanisha Williams, Assistant Director of Admissions and Educational Partnerships; and the Registrar’s Office, Financial Aid, Counseling, and Transfer Advising staff. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected Gaston College as it has the rest of the world, and the final months of Herring’s tenure as SGA President are proving to be vastly different than she could have envisioned. “I was recently having a conversation with Amy Bridges, my Anatomy and Physiology Instructor, and she reminded me of a passage from the Bible, Luke 1:37. It says, ‘For with God, nothing shall be impossible.’ That belief,” said Herring, “is what has helped me cope with this trying time. If I had one thing to tell students, it would be that no one can say that we didn’t get through this. We did this.”

The South Point High School girl’s tennis and swim/dive teams were designated a ScholarAthlete Team by the N.C. High School Athletic Association for achieving a combined team grade point average of 3.7. In addition, the girls tennis team (below) earned runner-up honors in their sport with a cumulative GPA of 3.91, while the girls swimming and diving team cumulative GPA of 3.89 was third. Lexy Henson
South Point softball senior stars By Charlotte Sautner This is the the third in our series of articles highlighting the seniors on our spring sports teams is about the two seniors on our softball team: Lexy Henson and Abby Pearson. Coach Leah Brooks writes: Lexy Henson has always been a tremendous versatile player. Any position I moved her to she would go to without hesitation. She was a leader that any of the girls could come to with questions. At every practice and game you would know that she left everything on the field. Lexy plans to continue her education at Appalachian State University in the fall. Abby Pearson is the type of player that played hard for her team and was always a
vocal leader. It didn’t matter if we were losing or winning, she would always give the team positive feedback and always encouraged everyone to not give up, but keep working harder. Abby made sure if she wasn’t doing something right, she would work harder to fix it. Both of these seniors left a wonderful mark on our programs and led by example. They showed the underclassmen what the true meaning of being s South Point High School softball player means. They will be greatly missed! Team highlighted next week: Men’s tennis. Local Students graduate from Mars Hill University Mars Hill University conferred degrees on 161 graduates at the conclusion of the spring 2020 semester. Including double- and triple-majors, the university presented 174 bachelor’s and master’s degrees. The most popular majors were business, criminal justice, nursing, and social work. Among the graduates are: Sarah Joy Ingalls of Denver, who received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art. Eustacia J Smith of Gastonia, who received a Bachelor
of Arts degree in English, Political Science, and International Studies. Jerry C Clark of Gastonia, who received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Tate Payne of Gastonia, who received a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation & Sport Management. Daliyah Breeden of Gastonia, who received a Bachelor of Social Work degree in Social Work. Although precautions
around the COVID-19 pandemic meant the graduates weren’t able to walk across the stage last Saturday to receive their degrees, as originally planned, they will get that opportunity later. The university has rescheduled the commencement ceremony for the class of 2020 for Sunday, October 4, at 2 p.m. Graduation will happen during the university’s annual homecoming weekend, assuming public health conditions at the time will allow it.
