The concert is a memorial concert in memory of Rick’s mother, Margaret Sue Webb, who passed on June 12, 2021. She was a member of the Cherryville Music Club, sang in the church’s choir for many, many years, and directed the Cherub choir for many years. The family has a web site at www.rickwebbfamily.org, where you can find out their tour schedule, and more about their music and the ministry of one of America’s premiere gospel music groups.
The Webbs have been touring and performing now, as the web site noted, for 34 years. It continues, “Rick and Phyllis Webb have ministered through music evangelism to scores of people worldwide, logging over 2 million miles and witnessing scores of people make public decisions for salvation through Jesus Christ during the span of their ministry. “They have shared the platform with noted Christian leaders President Ronald Raegan, President George H. 2023 Christmas Parade will have a new route, direction this year Floats, band, Santa, will all head east toward Papa’s Pizza parking lot by MICHAEL E. POWELL Editor michael@cfmedia.info
Cherryville Chamber of Commerce Director Mary Beth Tackett said recently the big “news” about the Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023 Christmas Parade is that it will be coming from a different direction this year as opposed to all the previous years. In a recent phone conversation, Tackett noted the direction will be essentially reversed from past parades in that it will head east down Main Street, as opposed to heading west on Main. that is to say, it will be going in the direction of the old Harris Teeters parking lot instead of coming from there.
The new staging area and route starts at Mulberry and Main Street, she said, and heads east, as was mentioned, towards Papa’s Pizza parking lot. “The parade viewing area will be from Main Street only,” she said. To that end, Tackett noted First Street will be closed from Mulberry Street to Cherry Street, along with Main Street, from Mulberry Street to Pink Street from 3 a.m., to 12 p.m., on Saturday, Dec. 9. Not to worry though, she added, as this Christmas season is shaping up to be a good one. She and the folks at the City and the Chamber want everyone to have a great time and“…celebrate the holidays together” in the city “Where Life Blossoms!” “The Christmas season is upon us!” Tackett has been fond of saying the Chamber staff and crew have put together a big holiday season and what with last week’s ‘Whoville’ (Friday, Dec. 1, at the Mini-Park in Downtown Cherryville), and the upcoming parade, she noted See PARADE, Page 4A

Well, it’s no longer just the post office that gets the job done no matter the weather and its issues! You can now add the Cherryville Whoville Celebration to that short list of contenders! In spite of some rather drippy and wet (and cold… did we say cold?) weather last Friday, Dec. 1, the 2023 Cherryville Whoville Celebration went on, seemingly without a hitch! By most accounts, everyone asked said they and their children were not only surprised it was held in the first place, what with the weather being like it was, but that it

Our kids love it!” They had been before and sort of knew what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised, she said, that it went on as if the weather were not any sort of bad factor. One of the newer items
in this year’s lineup was the inflatable maze, which was down by the Home Trust Bank. Chamber member Gary Dellinger – working a booth for the event – noted it was new for the city and a “first” for the Whoville celebration. The event’s organizers also noted many folks came out last Friday night (in
spite of the weather) to see what has rapidly become an event equally as well attended and as famous as the City’s famed Fourth of July celebration, or other similar events. According to the event’s organizers, Whoville started at 6 p.m., but the actual work and set-up began See WHOVILLE, Page 6A

Tuesday, November 21, 2023 marked North Carolina’s 234th birthday! U.S. Sen. Ted Budd, R-NC, was among those remembering the Old North State’s special day on social media. On Nov. 21, 1789, North Carolina became the 12th state to ratify the
United States Constitution and the only state with two ratification conventions. In 1729, the state started as a royal colony and was one of the original 13 colonies. STATE From Page 1A coined and can be seen on license plates across the state. The Edenton Tea Party in October of 1774 marked the first time women organized any political activity in the United States. According to “The King’s Trouble Makers – Edenton’s Role in Creating a Nation and State,” by Dr. Troy Kickler, senior fellow and managing director of the North Carolina History Curriculum Project at the John Locke Foundation, a group of women from Edenton and the Chowan County area signed a petition to boycott English goods and protest the tax. Only men signed petitions in those days, making the women’s action a bold political move. An earlier controversial document, the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence, allegedly signed in Charlotte on May 20, 1775, was touted as the first Declaration of Independence from Great Britain. The “declaration” didn’t surface until 1819. Published text in the Raleigh Register was reconstructed from memory by John McKnitt Alexander. According to ncpedia. org, historian William Henry

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Broughton C. “Sonny” Homesley, Jr. of the home; a son Alan Homesley; a sister, Ann B. Scism, all of Kings Mountain; a step-granddaughter, Chelsea Champion and three great-grandchildren; a special niece and nephew, Monica Scism Wright (Wesley) and Marcus Scism (Nicole). Hoyt dashed any hopes that it was a legitimate document. He used the latest methods to determine that the document was misconstrued from the Mecklenburg Resolves of May 31, 1775. It’s also worth noting that the May 20, 1775, date has been enshrined on the North Carolina state flag. North Carolina became the 10th of 11 states to secede from the Union on May 20, 1861, joining the Confederacy, but was restored to the Union on July 4, 1868, after the end of the Civil War. On Dec. 17, 1903, the Wright Brothers had the first powered, sustained, and controlled airplane flight at Kitty Hawk, which is now part of Kill Devil Hills. The slogan, “First in Flight,” was coined from their achievement and can be seen on many license plates across the state. The state motto, “Esse Quam Videri,” Latin for “To be rather than to seem,” was adopted in 1893. The state has a population of 10.69 million and is the 28th largest and the 9th most populous state in the country. Charlotte is the largest city, with a population of 885,663, with the Charlotte Metro Area at 2.79 million. Raleigh, the state capital, has a population of 477,084, and the Raleigh Metro Area has
about 1.5 million people. The state’s economy has shifted from its primary industries of tobacco, textiles, and furniture to agriculture (including being second in the nation for producing Christmas trees), technology, pharmaceuticals, banking, food processing, vehicle parts, and tourism. The state’s geography ranges from the mountains (part of the Blue Ridge Mountains) in the western part of the state to the Piedmont region in the central part to the beaches along the coastal area in the east. North Carolina is a proud military state with Fort Liberty (formerly known as Fort Bragg), Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, MCAS New River, Camp Geiger, Camp Johnson, Stone Bay, and Courthouse Bay. Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, the Coast Guard Air Station in Elizabeth City, and the Military Ocean Terminal Sunny Point in Southport, one of the largest military terminals in the world, which serves the U.S. Army, are also located in North Carolina. How a Health Savings Account Can Boost Your Retirement Savings Dear Savvy Senior, I’m interested in contributing to a health savings account to help boost my retirement savings but would like to better understand how they work. What can you tell me? Almost 60 Dear Almost, A health savings account, or HSA, is a fantastic financial tool that can help you build up a tax-free stash of money for medical expenses now and after you retire. But to qualify, you must be enrolled in a high-deductible health insurance plan. Here’s an overview of how they work and how you can open one. HSA Rules HSAs have become very popular over the past few years as the cost of health care continues to skyrocket, and because more and more Americans have high-deductible health plans. The great benefit of a HSA is the triple tax advantage that it offers: Your HSA contributions can be deducted pretax from your paycheck, lowering your taxable income; the money in the account grows tax-free; and if you use the money for eligible med-
ical expenses, withdrawals are tax-free.
pendents.
And if you change jobs, the HSA moves with you.
Unlike a flexible spending account, an HSA doesn’t require you to use the money by the end of the year. Rather, HSA funds roll over year to year and continue to grow tax-free in your HSA account for later use.
To qualify, you must have a health insurance policy with a deductible of at least $1,500 for an individual or $3,000 for a family in 2023. In 2024, the deductible rises to $1,600/individual or $3,200/family. This year, you can contribute up to $3,850 if you have single health insurance coverage, or up to $7,750 for family coverage. Next year (2024) you can contribute significantly more – up to $4,150 for single coverage or up to $8,300 for family coverage. And people age 55 and older can put away an extra $1,000 each year. But you cannot make contributions after you sign up for Medicare. The money can be used for out-of-pocket medical expenses, including deductibles, co-payments, Medicare premiums, prescription drugs, vision and dental care and other expenses (see IRS.gov/pub/irs-pdf/ p502.pdf, page 5, for a complete list) either now or when you retire for yourself and your spouse as well as your tax de-
In fact, you’ll get a bigger tax benefit if you use other cash for current medical expenses and keep the HSA money growing for the long term. Be sure to hold on to your receipts for medical expenses after you open your HSA, even if you pay those bills with cash, so you can claim the expenses later. There’s no time limit for withdrawing the money tax-free for eligible medical expenses you incurred any time after you opened the account. But be aware that if you do use your HSA funds for non-medical expenses, you’ll be required to pay taxes on the withdrawal, plus a 20 percent penalty. The penalty, however, is waived for those 65 and older, but you’ll still pay ordinary income tax on withdraws not used for eligible expenses. How to Open a HSA You should first check with your employer to see if they offer a HSA, and if they
will contribute to it. If not, you can open an HSA through many banks, brokerage firms and other financial institutions, as long as you have a qualified high-deductible health insurance policy. If you plan to keep the money growing for the future, look for an HSA administrator that offers a portfolio of mutual funds for long-term investing and has low fees. Some of the top-rated HSA providers in 2023 are Lively, HealthEquity, OptumBank, Fidelity, HSA Bank and Bank of America. After setting up your HSA plan, adding money is pretty straightforward. Most plans let you do online transfers from your bank, send checks directly, or set up a payroll deduction if offered by your employer. To access your HSA funds many plans provide a debit card and most allow for reimbursement. Send your senior questions to: Savvy Senior, P.O. Box 5443, Norman, OK 73070, or visit SavvySenior.org. ‘Hope For The Holidays’ helps children; families in need After serving more than 1,200 children last year, The Lighthouse Children’s Advocacy Center will host ‘Hope for the Holidays’ for its second year, with the aim of serving even more members of the Gaston County community in need. Last year’s effort was sparked by a $50,000 ‘Secret Santa,’ which led to more than $20,000 in additional giving from businesses and community members. That same Secret Santa has pledged another $50,000 for 2023, and is encouraging the community to rally around those less fortunate to make their holiday
season a bit brighter. Headed into the 2024 presidential election year, President Joe Biden’s approval rating remains underwater among North Carolina voters. The latest Civitas poll of likely general election voters puts the president’s approval rating at 36 percent, compared to 59 percent who disapprove. Even worse for Biden, of those who disapprove of his performance, 51 percent strongly do so. The news from the poll isn’t all bad for Democrats, however. The advantage for the GOP on a generic legislative ballot narrowed this month compared to September – declining from 47.1 to 44.7 percent – while Democrat’s performance increased from 42 to 43.6 percent. The difference is within the poll’s margin of error, but the movement is a more sizeable shift than typical seen during a twomonth period. In a generic Congressional race, Republicans hold a slightly larger lead at 46 percent to Democrats’ 43.4 percent. Other poll results on the political front show that Gov. Roy Cooper’s approval rating clocks in at 44 percent of voters compared to 42 percent disapproving. In the race to replace Cooper as governor next year,
President Joe Biden has an approval rating of 36 percent among likely NC voters. Photo provided – (Source: Gage Skidmore via Creative Commons agreement.) Republican Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson has the highest favorability at 28 percent, followed by 26 percent favorability for Democrat Attorney General Josh Stein. The poll revealed that likely voters are largely unfamiliar with the remaining candidates vying for governor – over 70 percent say they have never heard of former NC Supreme Court Justice Mike Morgan, a Democrat, or State Treasurer Dale Folwell, a Republican. GOP candidate Bill Graham – the latest candidate to enter the Republican primary field – has 53 percent name recognition. Support for North Carolina’s new voter ID law remains strong, with 96 percent of Republicans and 67 percent of unaffiliated voters in support. For Dem-
ocrats, 39 percent support it and 47 percent are opposed. At the same time, the vast majority of likely voters – 84 percent – do not believe that voter ID makes it more difficult to vote. “It’s encouraging to see that most North Carolinians, regardless of their political leanings, do not view voter ID as an impediment to voting,” said Donald Bryson, CEO of the John Locke Foundation. “Many folks’ trust in the ballot box is waning, so we must continue implementing measures that regain voter confidence and reinforce election integrity for the sake of our democracy. Voter ID does that.” On the question of government transparency, 94% of likely voters believe that open records laws are important in maintaining accountability. “The overwhelming support for open records laws among North Carolinians, as evidenced by the Civitas Poll, clearly demonstrates a public demand for transparency and accountability in governance,” Bryson added. “Voters, generally, do not believe legislators deserve special privileges compared to other public servants.” The poll was conducted Nov. 26-27 and surveyed 600 likely general election voters.

A Winter Wonderland During the winter season in my hometown St. Louis, Missouri, the landscape would be adorned with glistening snowflakes and a serene blanket of white. Not only was I excited about having a snow day from school, but I was captivated by the beauty of nature as I gazed out of my window. Everything was covered; nothing was left untouched. This winter wonderland reminds me of God’s promise of DANYALE PATTERSON hope and redemption. Isaiah 1:18 (ESV) says, “Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.” A HIGH STANDARD Sometimes we think we are pretty good people and don’t need to change, especially if we pridefully compare ourselves to other people. However, our Heavenly Father doesn’t want us to measure our righteousness to others, but to examine ourselves based on his laws. If we are humble and truly honest, we would realize that we fail miserably in at least one or more areas. I know without a doubt that if the Holy Judge and Creator of the Universe decided to replay every thought I dwelled on, every word I ever said, all the attitudes of my heart, and everything I ever did, I would be toast and extremely embarrassed. I have missed the mark a million times since I came into this world. Romans 6:23 (NLT) says, “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” The good news is He has a plan called salvation that deals with sin. When we believe and surrender our lives to Jesus Christ, He will lead us by his Holy Spirit and the scriptures. If we humble ourselves before God like King David in the Bible, the Lord will make our lives like a winter wonderland. King David prayed in Psalm 51:7 (GNT), “Remove my sin, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.” PRAY THIS PRAYER: “Father God my heart is filled with love and gratitude for your goodness and mercy. Your love is indescribable; I am in awe of your grace and kindness to me. Forgive me for my disobedience and prideful ways. Help me to be a vessel of honor that pleases you. Continue to mature me in the things of the Spirit and in your word. In Jesus’ name, I pray - Amen.” CONNECTING TO GOD God loves you more than you can comprehend. He is waiting with open arms for you to ask for forgiveness and receive Jeus Christ as your Savior and Lord. Your salvation is the most costly gift you will ever receive, because Christ took the penalty of sin to keep your soul from eternal damnation if you surrender your life to him. Romans 10:9 (ESV) says, “Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. right. Do you hear me, Helen? That’s Summit Drive and turn right.” But, Helen and Gladys, who were both approaching eighty, after serving as elementary school teachers for many years, were far better at giving directions than taking them. Because when they went to the end of Summit Drive, instead of turning to the right and going into the fancy new housing development, they turned left and went into the projects of Durham. Late that afternoon, each team returned to the church to make its report. Helen and Gladys had only one interested person to report to the group, a woman named Verleen. She lived with her two children in a three-room apartment in the projects we were told. Although she had never been to a church in her life, Verleen wanted to visit, Mt. Bethel. That next Sunday, Helen and Gladys proudly presented

but I still said ‘no.’ I reckon that’s about the only time in my life I ever said ‘no’ to anything. Made me feel like I was somebody.” Through the stunned silence, I managed to say, “Well…um….yeah…this Scripture is about resisting temptation…let’s pray together.” As I left the church parlor and went into the parking lot, I was helping Helen get the leftover snack food in her car and she said, “I can’t wait to get home and invite people to come to our study next week. Your Bible studies were a bit dull. I think I can get a good crowd for this.” This year Verleen’s youngest son graduated high school. Mt. Bethel threw him a graduation party fit for a king. After Bible Study that day, I wasn’t entirely sure whether to laugh or cry, but the church, by the grace of God, grew.

But then I thought, ‘No, you are a Christian!’ So I went back in the store and paid them for the loaf of bread.” Her confession was met with many nods of approval. It was then that Verleen spoke. “A couple of years ago I was into cocaine really big. You guys know what that is like right? You know how that stuff makes you go crazy. Well, anyway, my boyfriend, not the one I have now, but the one who is the daddy of my first child, that one, well we knocked over a gas station one night. It was easy, the quickest $200 I ever made. Well, my boyfriend, he says to me, ‘Let’s hit the 7-Eleven down the corner.’ And something in me says, ‘No. I’m not going to hold up a convenience store.’ He beat me,

Verleen at the eleven o’clock service: Verleen, along with two feral-looking children. Verleen liked the service so much, she said, she wanted to attend the women’s Thursday morning Bible study. Helen and Gladys said they would pick her up. That Thursday, Verleen appeared, proudly clutching her new Bible, a gift from Helen’s circle, the first Bible Verleen had ever seen, much less owned. That Thursday, as the poor Duke student it was my job to lead the women’s Bible study. We were talking about Luke, chapter 4, which is the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness. As I was closing my opening remarks, I asked, “Have any of you ever been faced with temptation and with Jesus’s help you resisted?” One of the women talked about how, just the week before, there was some confusion in the supermarket checkout line and before she knew it, she was standing in

WHOVILLE From Page 1A earlier than that, by all accounts. New this year, noted one of the Chamber’s board members, was the inclusion of a maze – a first for the event as well as the city itself. As always, the city had a slew of food and sale items vendors who came out and hawked their wares – rain or shine. In the past, and in interviews with the Eagle, Chamber Director and City Events Planner Mary Beth Tackett has said this scale of planning and work was the norm for putting on not just any event the City and Chamber has, but pretty much is “status quo” for getting the job done for ANY event the City takes part in, no matter the holiday. As for this year’s event, Mrs. Tackett said, “I can’t believe how people still attended and endured the rain. Despite the weather not being ideal, it turned into a fantastic evening, with plenty of smiles – exactly what this event is all about!” Mrs. Tackett has noted in the past that, in addition to the massive planning and execution of events of this caliber, there are the years they were unable to host – of had to move – Whoville, due to either snow, rain or the terror
and the pandemic. Still, they never gave up and always managed to literally “knock it out of the ballpark” when it came to presenting a spectacle the likes of Whoville, which never ceases to amaze and “wow” children of all ages. Santa Claus was down Main Street at the Home Trust Bank and he was busy doing his part to make sure all the little tykes got their Christmas wishes and request in early! One youngster, Oliver Waiton, 5, of Cherryville, was there with his mom to see Santa, and see him he did. Oliver said he likes to build snowmen and throw snowballs. We’re all hoping for some of the white stuff to eventually make it here this year just so he and his little buddies can do just that! The Chamber staff and the City were quick with their thanks to the Cherryville Police and Fire Departments as well as all the city and other personnel who helped set up Whoville and take it down later on, as well as all those who took part in constructing the sets, the buildings; the vendors and merchants of the city of Cherryville and from near and far who came and transacted business during the event. As always, Mrs. Tackett
and the City and Chamber’s work during this season is never done as they have the Saturday, Dec. 9 Cherryville Christmas Parade, which starts at 10 a.m. This event too is a well-known, and much-loved celebration of the Reason for the Season, the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For more information on the Christmas Parade either visit the city’s web site at www.cityofcherryville.com, check out their Facebook page, or call the Chamber’s office at (704) 435-3451, during business hours.

Ironmen varsity teams both 2-1 overall, 0-0 in SPC as the young season progresses (by MICHAEL E. POWELL Editor michael@cfmedia.info
The two varsity CHS Ironmen basketball teams played at home last week, taking on the visiting Dragons of North Carolina School of Science and Math (NCSSM). That school has no JV squad so the varsity men and women played them at Nixon Gym, taking two victories from the visitors. In Lady Ironmen action, Coach Carrie Dalton’s ladies defeated the Lady Dragons by a score of 66-12. Krista Davis was the high scorer with 19 points. She was followed by Raylei Gidney with 12 points and Laila Davis with 10 points respectively. Evionna McDowell had 9 points, with Faith McDowell knocking down 6 points to help in the scoring. Remaining scorers for the ladies were Taylor Digh and Emily Allen with 3 points apiece; and Ceniya Powell and Cierra Gibson with 2 points apiece. The ladies are currently 2-1 overall and 0-0 in SPC 1A/2A play. They played an away game against the West Lincoln Lady Rebels on Friday, Dec. 1, but lost that game 54-35. The CHS men’s basketball squad also won their matchup against the visiting NCSSM Dragons by a score of 59-50, as the Dragons put up a good fight on the boards. The Dragons led 29-23 over the Ironmen at the half, but the CHS men came back and took the lead, eventually getting the win. Leading scorers for the men were Rayshawn Sewell, with 17 points, and Andron Patterson and Darrien Floyd, with 12 points apiece. Chance Hunt had 9 points and Nate Bookout had 6 points. Darius Pullen had 3 points off a threepointer. The Ironmen traveled to West Lincoln, losing their Dec. 1 game with the Rebels by a score of 54-36. The Ironmen are also 2-1 overall, and 0-0 in SPC play. Both Ironmen varsity teams will play away at Chase on Tuesday, Dec. 5, but are back home on Wednesday, Dec. 6, against Fred T. Foard, then are again at home against West Lincoln on Friday, Dec. 8. (Additional information by Susan G. Powell)

THE SAVIOUR IS BORN
We Celebrate Christmas
Luke 1 The Birth of Jesus Foretold 26 In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” 29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. 31 You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.” 34”How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” 35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called[c] the Son of God. 36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. 37 For nothing is impossible with God.” 38”I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it be to me as you have said.” Then the angel left her. Mary Visits Elizabeth 39 At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, 40where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. 41When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! 43But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. 45Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!” Mary’s Song 46 And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord 47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 48 for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, 49 for the Mighty One has done great things for me— holy is his name. 50 His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. 51 He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. 52 He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. 53 He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. 54 He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful 55 to Abraham and his descendants forever, even as he said to our fathers.” Luke 2 The Birth of Jesus 1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2(This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to his own town to register. 4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. The Shepherds and the Angels 8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ[a] the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14”Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.” 15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” 16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told. EMPLOYMENT NEED FULLTIME LIVE IN DOMESTIC. My name is Bo Billings. I am a retired computer scientist. I am also a 1952 polio patient. Through hard work and determination I was able to live a grand life.. Was able to walk for the first 65 years of my life. Traveled around the world, worked for our military before became an emergency manager. Became a first responder after 911. But as in most sad stories, which this is not one, I have lost my ability to walk due to post-polio syndrome. After 51 years in Florida, I chose to move back to my home state. Grew up in Winston-Salem. Educated at Wingate college and it was on after that. There wasn’t a computer in the world that was safe from my playing. Now, I need help and I am willing to trade room-board for someone to care for me. As a friend of 51 years said, there has always been someone to care for my domestic needs. You will be provided with high speed internet, computer if required or wanted, large room for personal use. If You have a question, ask. The only wrong question is the one not asked. If you want to know who I am, www.bobillings. org will explain. (561) 236-7348 bowpfl@bellsouth.net
