Murphrey’s Toy Run set for Nov. 18 Murphrey’s 29th annual toy run for benefit of Shriner’s Burn Center and Oxford Orphanage, Masonic Home for Children, Cleveland County Sheriff’s office and KM Police Department will be held Saturday, Nov. 18. Rain date is Sunday, Nov. 19.

BIG news for KMLT and renovation project Speaker Tim Moore and Senator Ted Alexander presented KMLT President Mary Grace Keller and the KMLT Board of Directors with a “big check” representing a North Carolina State grant of $285,000 for this fiscal year.

In remarks before the presentation, Senator Alexander applauded KMLT for providing “family-friendly” programming, being a fis-

cally sound business, and being a leader in downtown revitalization.

Speaker Moore echoed these comments and added his pride in KMLT’s successful efforts to keep our area’s Revolutionary War history alive with its “Liberty Mountain, the Revolutionary Drama” play by Robert Inman. KMLT just completed a very successful 8th season in October.

The drama depicts the dramatic events leading to the October 7, 1780, Battle of Kings Mountain. It brings to life the story of these Carolina Backcountry patriots, who, with their victory, helped secure our nation's liberty. The indoor drama features full theater action, music, epic battles, & special effects.

23rd annual Jingle Bell Rockin’ Run 5k Run/Walk December 2 Kings Mountain Family YMCA’s 23rd annual community Jingle Bell Rockin’ Run 5k Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, December 2. The 5K begins at 9 a.m. on Dec 2nd. There will also be a Kids Fun Run beginning at 9:45 a.m.

Norma Jean White KINGS MOUNTAIN, NC – Norma Jean White, 90, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023 at Courtland Terrace in Gastonia, NC. She was born in Greenville County, South Carolina daughter of the late Robert Lee and Eunice Savilla Irvine Nash and was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Eugene White, and brothers, Charlie Nash Sr. and John Irvine Nash.

She loved the beach and cruises. She loved her dog, Archer.

She was predeceased by her grandfather, Wiley Bolin; grandparents, Avery and Ethel Llewellyn and uncle, Michael Llewellyn.

Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Samantha and Steven Hinson; father, Jerry Llewellyn (Robin Cherry); grandmother, Irene Bernstein; aunts and uncles, Sherry and Paul Terry, George

Norma was a longtime faithful member of First Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for more than 40 years to the children of the church. Affectionately known to many as “Jean Jean”, Norma loved children and babysat in her home for countless children in Kings Mountain.

She possessed a special heart for the young and her love for them was shown in her actions daily. She was a wonderful wife and mother, and a doting grandmother and great grandmother.

Norma’s contributions to community and family will be remembered always.

She is survived by her daughter: Elizabeth Allen and husband David, Kings Mountain, NC; grandchildren: Andrew Allen, Kings Mountain, NC, Jake Allen and Carrie, Rome GA, and Noah Allen and Caroline, Kings Mountain, NC, and Mandi Allen, Shelby, NC; great-grandchildren: Brax, Hattie, Elise, Baker, Barrett, Augie, and Frankie;

siblings: Robert Nash Jr., Demaris Turner, Thomas Nash and Elizabeth Nash.

Memorial service was held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. John Sloan officiating.

Visitation was on Saturday, October 21, 2023 immediately following the service in the Stain Glass Room.

GCPD searching for man accused of shooting at officers Gaston County Police’s Emergency Response Team conducted a neighborhood search for a man accused of shooting at police officers Sunday. Residents in the area of the 100 block of Hollycrest Lane between the Town of Stanley and Spencer Mountain were urged to stay indoors and report anything suspicious to 911.

At 11:40 a.m., GCPD and Stanley Police Department officers went to 156 Hollycrest Lane, Gastonia, NC, to look for 54-year-old Joel Scott Puckett. Puckett, who is a white male, has an outstanding warrant for Felony Breaking and Entering and three orders for arrest for Possession of Methamphetamine, Fel-

As the officers approached the residence, a shot was fired in their direction from somewhere outside the residence.

Officers immediately took cover and called for assistance. The Gaston County Police Emer-

gency Response Team (ERT) assisted in clearing several structures on the property and tracking any suspects in the area.

At the time of the search, the Gaston County Police cannot confirm that Joel Scott Puckett fired the shot at officers.

At 5:30 p.m., GCPD’s ERT had completed its area search.

GCPD’s ERT has completed its area search, but no arrests have been made. Officers will continue to patrol the area, and residents are asked to remain vigilant and report anything suspicious to the department’s non-emergency line at 704-8663300.

Burn ban issued for Cleveland and Gaston Counties Due to increased fire risk, the N.C. Forest Service has issued a ban on all open burning and has canceled all burning permits for Burke, Cherokee, Clay, Cleveland, Gaston, Graham, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, McDowell, Polk, Rutherford, Swain and Transylvania counties effective 5 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 5, until further notice.

“Several counties in Western North Carolina are in a severe drought, and we are seeing wildfire activity increase due to dry conditions. Because dry conditions are expected to continue, this burn ban is necessary to

reduce the risk of fires starting and spreading quickly. Our top priority is always to protect lives, property, and forestland across the state,” said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. “Even though not all areas of North Carolina fall under the burn ban, we do encourage extreme caution with any burning as conditions are dry in many areas of the state. We will continue to assess conditions in the coming weeks to determine if we need to expand the burn ban.”

Under North Carolina law, the ban prohibits all open burning in the affected counties, regard-

less of whether a permit was previously issued.

The issuance of any new permits has also been suspended until the ban is lifted. Anyone violating the burn ban faces a $100 fine plus $183 court costs. Any person responsible for setting a fire may be liable for any expenses related to extinguishing the fire.

Local fire departments and law enforcement officers are assisting the N.C. Forest Service in enforcing the burn ban.

KM Community Table Thanksgiving Meal Nov. 22

By Loretta Cozart Feeding Children Cleveland County, in partnership with Albemarle, Kings Mountain Family YMCA, Mauney Memorial Library, Martin Electric, and The Davidson Association, is hosting a Community Table Thanksgiving Meal on Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 4 p.m., at the Deal Street Walking Track in Kings Mountain.

This meal is a community-wide effort, aiming to bring all areas of Cleve-

land County together in unity for a shared meal and fellowship. Each meal occurs in a highneed community area the Wednesday before Thanksgiving Day. This year, the meals will take place at six locations throughout Cleveland County, including

Catawba Two Kings donates $10,000 supporting two groups aiding women The Catawba Two Kings Casino’s Share Change program raised $10,000 from July through September for two local charitable organizations working to aid women, especially against human trafficking.

Compassion to Act and Justice Ministries each recently received $5,000 through the campaign, which enables casino patrons to donate the remaining change on slot vouchers by dropping them in the Share Change ticket boxes located on the casino floor.

With these donations, the program has provided $90,000 to organizations in local communities since it began in July 2021. The casino launched the Share Change program several weeks after its July 2021 opening, and new charitable recipients are designated every three months by the Catawba Nation Gaming

Authority’s board of directors.

“The loyal patrons of Catawba Two Kings Casino once again have shown their generosity in supporting the Share Change campaign,” Catawba Nation Chief Brian Harris said. “We are glad to help these two organizations in their fight for the future of many women.”

North Carolina State Sen. W. Ted Alexander also attended the Share Change presentation.

“I want to express my appreciation to the chief and Two Kings Casino and all of the casino staff for this tremendous gift toward the issue of human trafficking,” Sen. Alexander said. “Compassion to Act and Justice Ministries are some of those non-profit organizations that are on the ground that are really trying to address the issue.”

Compassion to Act is

a faith-based ministry on the front lines of confronting modern-day slavery. The organization’s hands-on approach to liberating women means they’re in the clubs and on the streets, building safe relationships for women to find a way to freedom. The team commands rescue operations, short-term emergency safehouses, and outreaches on locations where women are being exploited.

Compassion to Act goes beyond rescue to make dreams come true. The women it restores are often broken in heart and spirit but have a will to survive.

Kings Mountain High School celebrated homecoming the week of October 9-13th. The Student Participation Organization (SPO) hosted spirit week, encouraging students and faculty/staff to dress up to match the day's theme. Monday was PJ Day, Tuesday was Country vs.

Country Club, Wednesday was Ken vs. Barbie, Thursday was Mountie Pride, and Friday students were encouraged to dress like a teacher, and teachers were encouraged to dress like a student. The school had great participation from our students, faculty, and staff.

Moore speeds up interchange project impacting Charlotte region If you commute to Charlotte, you are familiar with the notoriously slow 485 and I-85 interchange in Western Mecklenburg County. Traffic backs up there throughout the day due to the number of cars and trucks that navigate through the interchange. Improvement plans were scheduled to be completed by 2033, but Speaker Tim Moore has allocated $45 million to accelerate the process

and get traffic moving faster.

The plan is to redesign the current interchange and add more lanes. According to Moore, the construction could begin no later than 2025, he shared in a Thursday press conference. “That’s going to make a huge difference for the men and women and families who travel this road every day to get to and from work, to and from home, taking

Kings Mountain Little Theatre, Inc. is a volunteer based, 501c3 tax-exempt community theater. It owns and operates the Joy Performance Center and the Liberty Mountain Garden.

It is a funded affiliate of the Cleveland County Arts Council and is supported in part by a Grassroots Grant from the North Carolina Arts Council, a state agency.

The Cleveland County Commission for Women hosted the 31st Annual Distinguished Women’s Banquet on November 2nd at 6:30 p.m. at the LeGrand Center. More than 100 women have been honored with this prestigious award since its inception in 1992.

This year’s honorees included Tiffany W. Crank, Kendalyn Lutz-Craver, and Brianna Meagan Delany. In addition, Kings Mountain’s Sandie Dee was slated to be recognized last year but could not attend the event.

So, she was honored this year.

Sandie Dee served as an Army Aviation Officer and was the first female helicopter pilot in the US Army to be assigned to a forward-deployed combat aviation unit (2-1 Aviation Brigade, Second Infantry Division, Republic of Korea). Her job was to fly the unarmed scout helicopters (OH-58) in advance of the attack helicopters to identify targets and threats.

She also served in the South Carolina National Guard.

Later, Sandie started two businesses in Cleveland County, contributing to the community and local economy. Patriot Jacks Outfitters and Big Reds Café were both founded by our honoree. She is an accomplished grower of flowers and sought out for advice and workshops.

While a member, Sandie led the “We Build People” Kings Mountain YMCA campaign, which was focused on the local veteran community securing a $300.000 contribution from the city of Kings Mountain to supplement a state grant for Y improvements.

Sandie also served on the Kings Mountain Crisis Ministry, Kings Mountain Forward and had a host garden for the 2022 Cleveland County Home and Garden Tour. Sandie is a devoted mother of two young men and wife to Phil. Through these accomplishments, Sandie quietly supports, mentors, and invests in

In 1978, the Cleveland County Board of Commissioners established the county’s Commission for Women, charging it with identifying and responding to the needs of all citizens of Cleveland County, with the greatest emphasis being on the needs of area women. The Commission for Women was instrumental in establishing the Cleveland County Abuse Prevention Shelter for women in crisis situations. Working in conjunction with NC Equity (now NC Women United), the Commission participates in a Bi-yearly Legislative Agenda where county women are given the opportunity to present their concerns regarding women’s issues. NC Equity compiles results of the Legislative Agenda. (now NC Women United) and forwarded to state legislators.

In 1991, the commission surveyed the status and needs of county women,

sharing the results with county officials. Since its origin, the commission has recognized the contributions of county women through special events and workshops held during Women ’s History Month.

In 1992, the commission decided to host an annual banquet recognizing the accomplishments and contributions of “distinguished” women. The commission decided in 2009 to reactivate the Miss Cleveland County Fair Pageant.

The Cleveland County Commission for Women strives to discuss and communicate the needs of county residents regardless of ethnicity or gender.

Sandie Dee was honored by the Cleveland County Commission for Women as a 2022 Distinguished Woman honoree at the LeGrand Center on November 2.

VEGETABLE CASSEROLE Ginnie Arnette 1 pkg. frozen vegetable mixture of broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots, thawed 1 small onion chopped 5 oz. can water chestnuts, chopped 1 can cream of mushroom soup ½ cup sour cream ½ cup sharp cheese Mix soup and sour cream.

All other ingredients except cheese. Pour into 9x12 Pyrex dish which has been greased with butter. Sprinkle grated cheese on top.

Bake 350 degrees 30 to 45 minutes.

STROGANOFF CASSEROLE Debbie Patterson 1 pkg. crescent rolls brought to room temperature and spread into a 9x13 pan

BROWN 1 lb. ground beef 1 med. onion Paprika, salt and pepper to taste Remove from heat and add: 1 can mushrooms 1 cup sour cream Blend together, spread over crescent rolls. Top with 6 slices of American cheese.

Bake at 375 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.

SPINACH CASSEROLE Connie Padgett Ramsey 2 pkgs. Frozen spinach ½ pkg. Pepperidge dressing 1 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese 1 stick oleo Cook and drain spinach.

Soften cream cheese and ½ stick oleo. Mix with the spinach and put in casserole. Melt the other ½ stick of oleo and mix with ½ pkg. of dressing. Sprinkle on top of spinach and bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

Serves 4-6.

CHOCOLATE POUND CAKE Jenny Maner ½ lb. butter ½ cup margarine 3 cups sugar 5 eggs 3 cups flour ½ t. salt ½ tsp. baking powder 1/2 cup cocoa 1 ¼ cup whole milk 1 t. vanilla All ingredients at room temperature.

Cream butter, margarine, and sugar well. Sift flour, salt, baking powder, and cocoa together. Add 5 eggs one at a time, beating well after each egg. Add flour mixture alternately with milk. Add vanilla last. 325 degrees for 1 hour and 20 minutes in a greased then dusted with cocoa Bundt pan.

Local science teacher selected for ocean expedition Beverly Owens, science teacher at Cleveland Early College High School, has been selected as a 2023 Science Communication Fellow and will sail aboard Ocean Exploration Trust’s Exploration Vessel (E/V) Nautilus. Owens will join the team aboard E/V Nautilus for ten days in November.

The NA157 expedition will start and end in Honolulu and utilize the deep-water mapping capabilities of E/V Nautilus to survey previously unmapped seafloor in the U.S. EEZ south of the Main Hawaiian Islands.

In addition to deep-sea mapping operations, the expedition will also include deployments of the Deep Autonomous Profiler to collect visual, environmental, and eDNA data to enable baseline characterizations of the deep-water environments of this region.

Owens will join the 2023 Nautilus Exploration Program expedition as an expedition communicator, bringing the excitement of exploration to learners worldwide. Ocean Exploration Trust (OET), a nonprofit founded by Dr. Robert

Ballard operates with a mission to explore the ocean, seeking out new discoveries while pushing the boundaries of STEAM education and technological innovation. Over 80% of the global ocean remains unmapped in detail, and over 90% remains unexplored.

Owens is one of sixteen Fellows selected nationally this year from schools, science centers, and non-profit organizations across eleven US states and territories. Fellows will join the team on different sea-going expeditions from May to December, exploring the Eastern Pacific near British Columbia and the Central Pacific Ocean near the Hawaiian Islands, in the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument, and in Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument.

“In 2015, I was fortunate to serve as a Science Communication Fellow (SCF) during the Gulf of Mexico Technology Exploration expedition, as well as the Panama Canal Crossing,” says Owens. “I am honored to be back on the E/V Nautilus serving as a Lead SCF during the Hawai’i Mapping Expedition. For a science teacher, being involved in current scientific research and connecting with scientists and field experts can have such a positive and long-lasting impact. During my time at sea, I’m looking forward to conducting live interactions with students from North Carolina, and beyond!”

Our community and the public can engage with Owens via Nautilus Live, a 24-hour live-streaming web portal bringing expeditions from the field to explorers on shore via telepresence technology at NautilusLive.org and via social media. Owens will participate in daily live audio commentary and question-and-answer sessions through the Nautilus Live website from sea. Ashore she will also engage in various community outreach events and activities throughout the team to engage students and families in learning about the ocean. The OET Science Communication Fellowship brings formal and informal educators onboard to engage students and the public in the wonders of ocean exploration, sharing discoveries from the 2023 mission, as well as aspects of daily life aboard a working exploration vessel. Fellows develop their science communication skills and spend several weeks as a crucial part of the team aboard E/V Nautilus. Fellows bring ocean exploration back to their home communities by incorporating their experience into classroom lesson plans, community presentation events, and informal educational opportunities.

“One of the major goals of our Nautilus Exploration Program is to motivate the next generation of explorers in STEAM fields,” said Allison Fundis, OET’s Chief Operating Officer, “we are very excited to provide educators and students with the direct experience in ocean exploration while allowing them the opportunity to share that experience with their peers around the world.”

OET promotes science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) education worldwide using the excitement of exploration and innovation to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers.

Hang another banner on the Parker Gym wall, KMHS volleyball team wins state championship Kings Mountain High’s women’s volleyball team won the NCHSAA 3A state championship Saturday with a tough 25-12, 25-27, 20-25, 25-21, 15-12 victory over Orange at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh.

The Lady Mountaineers finished 34-1 overall after winning the Big South Conference championship with a perfect 14-0 record.

The state championship was KM’s third in history with the others coming in 1998 and 2001.

Senior Meile Songaila completed a good four-year career by winning the Most Valuable Player award.

received NCHSAA sportsmanship trophies.

“Songaila had a very good tournament,” said Coach Heather Pasour. “I thought our defense was on point and she really helped us out. We played great in the clutch and shut them down in the middle.”

The Lady Mountaineers started off quickly with a 25-12 win in set one but the rest of the match was nail-biting time.

“We were pretty solid in the first set,” noted Coach Heather Pasour. “In the second set they changed some things up and we lost 25-27 and 19-25. The fourth set we got off to a good start and after that it was back

and forth. They had a very good team.”

The victory capped off one of the most exciting seasons in KMHS volleyball history.

“We had eight in the starting lineup that had a very good game,” Pasour noted. “Our only loss this year was to 2A state champion McMichael and we changed the lineup after that and made a complete turnaround.”

Coach Pasour said the banners on the gym wall of the championship teams of the past was a better pep talk than she could have given.

Kings Mountain’s Mountaineers opened the state 3A playoffs Friday at John Gamble Stadium with a 37-7 victory over Smoky Mountain.

Quarterback Kandan Zollo threw first half touchdown passes to Jayden Gash and Ja’Qualyn Sanders and Josiah Hill scored on a run to build a 21-7 lead at intermission.

If there was any chance for the visitors to come back, the Mountaineer defense stopped the Mustangs at their own 46 on the first drive of the third period and after a 10-yard penalty Zollo hit Qua Sanders with a 54-yard catch and run down the visitors’ sideline for a 27-7 margin.

Early in the fourth quarter, Zollo hit Jayden Gash for a 67-yard touchdown pass and Matt Rhom added the PAT to make it 34-7.

Rhom added a 34-yard field goal late in the game to account for the final margin.

“We did a good job,” noted head coach Strait Herron. “The players were more relaxed and that helps a lot.

“The defense did a good job,” he added. “They made several third and fourth down stops to help the offense.

Kings Mountain’s Mountaineers face a tough test Friday when they travel up the mountain to take on a good AC Reynolds team.

While Kings Mountain was beating Smoky Mountain last week at Gamble Stadium Reynolds was turning back another Big South Conference team, North Gaston, 45-0.

Reynolds comes into the contest with an overall 8-3 record with their losses coming early in the season to West Forsyth 8-7, East Forsyth 27-21 and Watauga 36-35.

KM Mountaineers compete in state cross country meet Kings Mountain’s Mountaineers finished 20th overall in Saturday’s state 3A cross country championship meet in Kernersville.

Even though the temperature was 45 degrees, the times were fast.

Max Thompson led the Mountaineers with a personal best 16:43 to finish 26th overall. The team finished 20th overall.

“This team was a really special diverse group,” said Coaach Rayvis Key. “We have two football players, a soccer player, a tuba player from the band, a pole vaulter and a 25-hour a week Chick-Fil-A worker to make up this year. Most teams that finished above us had only runners, and that’s all they do.

“With all the things going on in these young men’s lives, they truly outperformed my expectations,” Key added. “Next year we will miss our seniors Hunter Cruise and Elliot Habel, but I think we have a new benchmark of not only making it to the State meet but performing even better than the previous season.”

KM’s Watson 52nd in state golf tourney

Kings Mountain had eight runners competing in the state cross country meet in Kernersville.

Kings Mountain High’s Kaliyah Watson finished 52nd out of 94 participants in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s state championship golf tournament October 30-31 at Foxfire Resort and Golf in Foxfire Village.

Watson finished with a two-day total of 194. She shot a 96 Monday and 98

Tuesday.

Watson finished the season seventh overall in the Big South Conference and made the All-Conference team for the third year in a row. She also qualified for the 3A Western Regional tournament for the third year in a row and qualified for the 3A state championship for the first time.

“I want to thank Kings Mountain Country Club for supporting both our men’s and women’s golf programs and allowing us to use their facilities,” Coach Kevin Moss said. “They always accommodate us in making sure we have time to practice and adjust their schedule for us to host matches.”

Governor announces $1.677M in EV Career Pathway Funding On Wednesday, Nov. 2, Governor Roy Cooper announced that North Carolina was selected as a partner in the EVeryone Charging Forward™ program, a $30-million, 10-year initiative of the Siemens Foundation. The North Carolina Business Committee for Education (NCBCE), the education and workforce nonprofit in the Office of the Governor, will receive $1.677 million to create accessible career pathways in the EV manufacturing and charging sectors.

“North Carolina is the epicenter of the transition to a clean energy economy and continues to lead the way toward a clean energy

future,” said Governor Cooper. “This funding will help ensure that all communities can pursue critical clean energy jobs across our state.”

The EVeryone Charging Forward program was created in response to the rapid growth of the EV charging sector, resulting in significant demand for skilled workers across the industry. With this workforce development initiative, the Siemens Foundation seeks to ensure and scale equitable access to jobs for individuals from all backgrounds and meaningfully contribute to the decarbonization and strengthening of the U.S. economy. The foundation

selected partners to launch the initiative who are leaders in clean energy workforce development. As a state leader, North Carolina and NCBCE will collaborate with other state partners to develop training for underserved communities, including pre-apprenticeships and state-registered apprenticeships for young adults in EV charging installation and maintenance.

These best practices and strategies will be shared broadly through the foundation’s initiative.

NCBCE will address the training and education needs of the EV charging sector through a sectoral partnership by engaging

with industry leaders and employers operating in North Carolina. Working with the North Carolina Community College System and local community colleges, NCBCE will support the design of training and curriculum, and develop pre-apprenticeship and registered apprenticeship programs in EV charging installation and maintenance and manufacturing occupations. NCBCE will partner with the Department of Public Instruction and local school districts to support high school Career and Technical Education departments in aligning their programs with the new training. WanaBana apple cinnamon fruit puree pouch lead advisory After a joint investigation by NCDHHS, local health departments, the NC Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the FDA released an advisory on Oct. 28 for consumers not to buy or feed WanaBana apple cinnamon fruit puree pouches to toddlers and young children because the product may contain elevated levels of lead.

NCDHHS identified WanaBana apple cinnamon fruit puree pouches as a potential shared source of exposure following several cases of elevated blood lead levels in children in the western part of the state.

The FDA has reviewed and supported NCDHHS’ findings and issued a voluntary recall of all WanaBana apple cinnamon fruit puree pouches regardless of lot code or expiration.

Consumers concerned about this report should dispose of the products immediately and discuss blood testing with their health-

care provider. Consumers should also choose foods with detailed product labels that allow the products to be traced in the event of a recall or other evidence of contamination. Sign up for FDA recall alerts and Consumer Product Safety Commission alerts for heavy metals to be notified of future recalls.

Bethware Elementary hosts Color Run

By Loretta Cozart Bethware Elementary School hosted a Color Run on Saturday, October 7. The event was a combined effort between the school’s PTO and Title I Department to distribute reading materials to chil-

dren and their families while providing a fun activity.

The event was open to students and their families, along with community members who wished to join in the fun. Participants enjoyed music, snacks, and drinks provided by several

local businesses. The Title I Department provided grade-level reading materials for students to enjoy at home. Proceeds went to Bethware School PTO to be used for future school activities and classroom materials.
