N.S.P. YOUTH MAGAZINE LET’S DANCE WITH CHARNIECE! She completed her first year in NSP this past January. Now Charnice Chappell is ready to take her dance skills higher. The 14-yr, old talked about her 2016 goals. “I’m Charniece Chappell and I’ve been dancing for at least six years now. I am a dancer because am passionate, confident, and strong about myself and what I do. When I dance, I feel free as a butterfly. Dance is another way I express myself. I do have many goals for myself in the future as a dancer. One of my goals in NSP are to meet different people from different backgrounds, cultures and show off my talent, hoping they open doors for me. Another goal I have in NSP is to explore other talents so that I can grow as a performer. Studying theatre, vocal and dance can help me grow as a performer. As a dancer it is good for you to study many type of dances and techniques. The type of dance I study includes ballet, African and modern. In modern I’ve study Horton technique and Graham technique. When I first started as a dancer, I’d studied Jazz and African. Dance is something that makes me different from other because I am unique. From my energy, to my facial and body expression, to my attitude is what makes me different from other dancers. I hope to accomplish many things in life as a dancer and a few of those things are to dance with Alvin Ailey’s Dance Company, be able to do excellent jumps across the floor and just explore any opportunities out for me”. *For solo dance bookings, email Charniece at talentsearch@nonstopproduction.com. 4
Volume 1 - Issue 2 (Winter 2016) Growing in NSP: Aniyah Allen
(Interview by O’livia Gibson)
Aniyah is a 5th grader at PS/ MS 42 in Queens, NY. Her favorite subject is math. Aniyah came to NSP with an edge; Her mom and aunt were members in 1992-1994. Now with her cousins, Shaliya and Zaneya, they’ve made it a family thing. We interview the 10-year old about her mission in NSP; Q. Why did you become a model? A. I took up modeling because it would look great on my college application. Q. Who’s your role model? A. My cousin, Shaliya Parris. Q. Where do you see yourself
in 20 years? A.By age 30, I’d see myself as a graduate from law school. Q. Why do you want to pursue a career in law? A. Because I’m good at arguing with people.
Q. Do you believe that your family and friends encourage you and your goals? Why?/Why not? A. Yes, because my family encourages me to go to the best schools. They definitely want the best for me and from me. Q. Do you consider yourself a role model to younger children? A. Yes, because I get good grades. It starts with being smart and making smart decisions. - Aniyah is a very fashionable, driven, and ambitious young lady. Whether it’s on the runway modeling the latest fashions, or in the courtroom fighting for justice, NSP looks forward to help continue her evolving story.

O’livia Gibson O'Livia Gibson is a 7th grader at Ronald Edmonds Learning Center/ M.S.113. She joined NSP in summer, 2015, and made a quick impact with the company, performing at Brooklyn’s International African Arts Festival and as part of Harlem Week’s Back To School Fashion Show. She recently discussed her goals and plans for 2016; “I really enjoy the arts, modeling, acting, and dancing. I am pushing to become an actress because that is the career I really want to pursue. My favorite subjects at school are technology, and physical education. People always say you can be anything you want and I really believe that you can, but only if you have to have the determination, and ambition. I was always told to "Reach for the sky because the sky is the limit" ,I don't believe this because there are footprints on the moon. I believe I should reach for the stars and break all barriers, all the things that try to deter me from my destiny. I know that I have to work extremely hard to achieve my goals and I'm willing to put my time, energy, and heart into it and NOTHING is EVER going to stop me”. 7
