WELCOME TO ECFE

ECFE (Early Childhood Family Education)—for families with children from birth to kindergarten entrance—is a nationally-celebrated, school district-based parenting education program. Participating in ECFE helps you to form relationships with other families in the district and introduces you to our district’s learning experts and resources. It also engages your children in fun, age-appropriate learn and play activities.

What you need to know about ECFE classes

4 Parents or caregivers and children attend classes together

4 Professional, licensed early childhood parent educators and/or teachers lead every class

4 Each class is one to two hours long and includes an age-appropriate mix of parent discussion, parent child activities and children’s learning/play time

4 Most classes meet throughout the school year, but there are some short-term options

4 You can join classes at any time

4 Class sizes vary, but we keep groups small and intimate

4 We offer sibling care for children who are at least six weeks old

BABY STEPS

Get to know other people with babies the same age as yours. Join us for playtime, conversation and the chance to learn from your peers and our educators. Classes are facilitated by our experienced, licensed parent educators and early childhood teachers. Everyone with a new baby is welcome, not just first time parents.

ECFE 24+ Month Classes

KIDS ON THE GO

Learn from a parent educator and other parents while enjoying time with your child. Children practice important pre-kindergarten skills. Everybody learns, builds friendships and has fun. We also offer a class that has activities focused on science, tech, engineering and math (E502 STEM).

Multiage Activities and Classes

Family Playtime (all ages)

Bring your infants, toddlers and preschoolers to our weekly playtime. Teachers set fun themes for these loosely structured open-play classes. Parent educators are always available and willing to chat.

ECFE Lunch Bunch

Bring your 2, 3, or 4 year olds, pack a lunch, and join ECFE staff members. There will be activities for the children and a parent education focus on nutrition, feeding children successfully, picky eaters, and going to restaurants.

Walk and Talk (all ages)

Bring your infants, toddlers and preschoolers to our weekly Walk and Talk. An ECFE teacher will meet you outside Door #24 near the parking lot for the Wayzata Early Learning School and you and your children will be able to walk and talk with other parents. If your children are in class, feel free to join us as a parent time. Strollers are recommended for young children. It will be a great way to connect with other parents while maintaining social distancing.

Outdoor ECFE

Come to the Early Learning School to get your wiggles out and interact and socialize with other families. In this class, the group will remain outdoors as much as possible. There will be movement–based songs, sensory experiences, family reading time, and outdoor activities.

Early Childhood Yoga!

Bring your preschooler and join the ECFE team for yoga. Be sure to wear comfortable clothes and enjoy the benefits that yoga has to offer.
