The program reinforces the concepts and skills taught in other subject areas by integrating national Math, English Language Arts, and Science standards. The activities and assignments are on an interactive online learning platform. Students will write simple code to solve puzzles, and progress through levels. They use popular characters in solving the puzzles, which makes it easier for the students to get started and stay engaged. The program uses visual blocks, instead of typing, similar to the way it is taught in introductory computer programming in leading universities. See the online description for complete details. THE YORKVILLE TWINS: GROWING UP IN NYC IN THE 1940S, 1950S & 1960S
Tuesday, December 6 | 6:30-8:00 pm $19 per person Central Middle School Joe Gindele and John Gindele Twin brothers Joe & John Gindele grew up in New York City with immigrant parents and a family of 7. After graduating from high school in 1962, they moved to MN and became teachers. Come hear their reminiscences about post-war America in a large city, when news reports, politicians and leaders were believable, when teachers, priests and the police were never challenged, a time before TV, when many people didn’t have telephones. Full of humor, wisdom and frank talk, their anecdotes recount daily life from a historical, social and cultural perspective. Youth ages 12 and older may register when accompanied by a registered adult. Copies of the book will be available at a discounted price; and can be autographed by the authors.
