SPECIAL INTEREST Acing College Application Essays: Advice for Every Family from a Communications Expert NEW

The essays your student will need to write in the college application process are their BEST way to stand out from the crowd in a highly competitive environment. But, the subjective nature of essay writing causes stress for parents and students alike. In this session, communications expert Stef Tschida, leader of MN College Essay Coach and Tschida Communications, will share her proprietary method for tackling college essays based on the same communications approaches used by celebrities and corporate executives to tell their story and get their messages across. Be SMART: A Timely Conversation about Kids and Firearm Safety

This BeSMART public service program presents well researched data on how we can work together to lessen firearm incidents involving children. Resources for talking to kids about guns, arranging safe play dates, preventing teen suicide and reducing school shootings are made available after the slide presentation. Defensive Driving 55+ (8 hour)

Bicycle Repair and Rebuilding HOT

Learn all aspects of repairing and rebuilding bikes including gears, brakes, wheel truing and re-greasing at this hands-on class. Basic physics will be explained in the demonstration, including simple machines, gears, levers, and mechanical advantage. Bring your own bike to work on during class or practice on the instructor’s bikes. The instructor will provide all tools and cleaning materials. Some spare parts will be available for student use and class handouts will be provided.
