As a parent or guardian, you have incredible opportunities to shape your child’s math future. Join us for a night that will help demystify the mathematics your child is learning in class. How is math taught? Why is it taught this way? How can I support my child? We will explore these big questions as we hear from experts in the field and engage in “doing” mathematics together. Your child can succeed at the highest level of math in school when given the right opportunities and support. Your participation will equip you with strategies to support your mini-mathematician, increase your child’s math achievement and make math fun! Space is limited, registration is required. Courtney LaRoche

Join us for this informative workshop taught by Wayzata Schools Language Arts Resource Teacher, Nancy McCoy. Destination ImagiNation is a worldwide creative problem solving competition for kids. Teams of six to seven members work together to use creativity and critical thinking skills to solve challenges without assistance from adults or any other non-team members. Students develop leadership, performing, writing, technical, building and teamwork skills as they develop creative solutions! The team chooses one out of five Team Challenges to solve over a 12–16 week period and then presents their solution at a regional tournament as well as one Instant Challenge. Each Team Challenge is designed to be open-ended and solvable in many ways and on many levels. Parent volunteers are needed to serve as Team Managers. Training opportunities and written materials are provided. Form a team and register today! Visit www.wayzatadi.org or contact Angela Henry at angela.henry@wayzata.k12.mn.us or 763-745-5794. Information Night for parents and Team Managers is Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Central Middle School, 6:30-7:30 pm.
