WAZA, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature Species Survival Commission (IUCN SSC) and additional organisations, formed a partnership to create Reverse the Red – a collaborative effort aimed at reversing the current trends of species extinction. Reverse the Red is an umbrella initiative aimed at bringing together a diverse coalition of partners to collaborate, scale-up aspirations and impact, and engage people from all walks of life to take action for species and ecosystems. Reverse the Red calls on countries around the world to commit to demonstrating positive progress in their National Red List Index for the protection of both species and ecosystems, as the primary measure of species survival trajectory. The initiative is also a promise that the conservation community will all work together to make this a reality.
