FROM THE WBS The 2010 WBS Grand Championships completed last month at Los Sueños Resort and Marina in Costa Rica were a tremendous success. This was the most competitive event in WBS history with the lead changing from angler to angler three times in the span of less than 10 minutes as lines out approached on the final day of competition. Our congratulations to all the anglers that qualified and attended this season-ending event. Special congratulations go to Gerard Aliseo who earned the title of the 2010 WBS Grand Champion of Billfishing. As we start a new season, on behalf of all the anglers who compete on the WBS World Tour, we issue this special challenge to each angler to see if you can achieve top angler honors at a WBS World Tour event or accumulate enough points at as many WBS events as possible, to earn the right to compete against the best anglers in the world at the 2011 WBS Grand Championships. Over 10,000 anglers compete at WBS events throughout the year. On December 7th through 10th, for the 6th consecutive year Los Sueños Resort and Marina will host the 2011 WBS Grand Championships where one angler will be crowned the 2011 WBS World Champion of Billfishing. We hope you will accept this challenge. We look forward to seeing you on the WBS World Tour and in Los Sueños next December.

MERCURY MARINE INTRODUCES QUICKSILVER THUNDERBOLT LINE OF PROPELLERS FOR VOLVO PENTA DPS DRIVES Mercury Marine is proud to introduce the Quicksilver Thunderbolt line of propellers for Volvo Penta® Duoprop® drives. Now owners of Volvo Penta DPS drives now can experience the performance improvement that comes with running a Quicksilver Propeller. Quicksilver propellers are manufactured by Mercury Propellers. The Quicksilver Thunderbolt is made in the U.S. at Mercury Propellers Investment Casting foundry in Fond du Lac, Wisconson. In recent testing, the Quicksilver Thunderbolt outperformed the Volvo F6 propeller with improved top speed and 5 percent quicker 0-20 acceleration. The Quicksilver Thunderbolt is a suitable replacement for Volvo Type F Duoprops – the most common propeller fitment for Volvo DPS drives.

THE VIKING 66 CONVERTABLE

Announced at Vikings recent VIP Boat Show Preview in Riviera Beach, Florida, they were pleased to share sneak renderings of the new Viking 66 Convertible, which will premiere at the 2011 Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show in October. The 66 Convertible is the latest in an impressive line of new introductions over the past several months at Viking. For 2011 Viking proudly launched the 70 Convertible, the 70 Enclosed Bridge Convertible, the 42 Convertible and the 42 Open, aptly demonstrating its mettle and authority as the world's leading manufacturer of luxurious, high-performance sportfishing convertible yachts. Sharing the sleek aggressive stance of its new generation siblings, the profile of the 66 Convertible bespeaks power, speed and grace. In the salon, your senses will be delighted with a spacious layout that is elegant and practical for tournament campaigns, as well as cruising for months at a time. Below, four staterooms, each with its own head and fiberglass shower stall, team with restful space. Crews will appreciate thoughtful touches like convenient private access to their stateroom through the engine room and a centrally located laundry center in the companionway alcove.

The performance gains are driven by the Thunderbolt’s cutting edge four-blade front propellers coupled with a three-blade rear propeller. “The four blade front propeller is the difference maker,” said Dirk Bjornstad, brand manager for Mercury Propellers. “For this system, we made the front propeller a four-blade for superior holding and acceleration. As it turns out, the system is also faster on the top end as well. We think boaters will appreciate the improved performance.” The Quicksilver Thunderbolt is available in 19 to 28 pitch. Within this range, The Thunderbolt is available in seven pitches, which provides more propellers to choose from when dialing in a boat for top performance. It also features Mercury Marine’s proprietary propeller alloys, metals that provide superior strength, but offer the corrosion resistance required to stand up to demanding freshwater and saltwater applications. “The combination of performance and value with this product is best in class,” said Bjornstad.

The flying bridge features a center console command station with excellent visibility, electronic stowage and three adjustable helm seats. Jump seats are built into the port and starboard lounges and additional seating is forward of the helm. The 174 square-foot cockpit features Viking’s innovative upper observation mezzanine with built-in freezer space, a salon step refrigerated cooler, tackle and gear stowage, and engine room access. The lower self-bailing cockpit has an oversized insulated fish box, a live well tub and a dunnage compartment with locking stainless steel hardware and gas struts on all hatches. A walk-through transom door with lift gate, flush rod holders, rounded coamings, stereo speakers, twin Glendinning Cablemasters, gaff and tag stick stowage merely scratches at the long list of standard equipment. Look for regular updates about this new model in future emails and on www.vikingyachts.com. Billfishing Magazine

Thousands Try, Few Qualify, The 2010 WBS World Champion From January to December each year, thousands of anglers participate on the WBS World Tour for the opportunity to compete for the highest honor an individual angler can achieve in the sport of billfishing: The WBS World Champion of Billfishing. 16

www.FishWBS.com

After twelve months of the most intense competition in WBS history, the anglers who descended upon Los Sue単os Resort and Marina in Costa Rica for the 2010 WBS Grand Championships could not have imagined the minute-by-minute, heart stopping competition that was to come.

participate at WBS sanctioned events, but only a few earn the right to be invited to the year-end event where one angler will be crowned the WBS World Champion. It only seems appropriate that the competition to crown the world’s top angler must be held in one of the world’s top fishing destinations. Confirming its place at the top of the world’s best billfishing locations, for the fifth year in a row, Los Sueños Resort and Marina was the presenting sponsor and host for the 2010 WBS Grand Championships. Twenty six anglers earned the right and accepted the challenge to compete against the best of the best, knowing this competition would be like no other they have experienced in their angling career. The unique format of this world championship event would provide unmatched excitement and intensity in testing the true angling skill of all who dared enter the competition. The first two days of the three day event pit the 26 qualifiers against each other in head to head competition with two competing anglers on each tournament boat. With the world class fishing environment presented by Mother nature at Los Sueños, and unique tournament rules such as; having the anglers rotate sides of the boat each hour, control of the boat resting with the first angler to hook up, only two rods in the water at any time, a 45 minute fighting time limit and extremely limited mate support, the WBS Grand Championships present the purest and most intensely competitive environment of any tournament in the world. The goal for each angler, at the end of the two days of competition, is to finish as one of the top five points leaders in order to qualify to move on to fish on the third and final day of completion. These five anglers begin Day Three “all even” and fish one angler per boat to determine who will become the WBS World Champion.

The 2010 Event | Anglers’ Meeting Wednesday, December 8, 2010

One Becomes of Billfishing The Format The WBS Grand Championships has come to be known as “The Masters” of billfishing. Anglers must demonstrate they possess the highest level of skill and experience by earning points available at over 50 billfishing events spread over eight divisions worldwide on the renowned WBS World Tour. Each year tens of thousands

The top anglers in the world began arriving in Los Sueños Resort and Marina several days earlier to hone their skills and plan their strategy, but the Angler’s Meeting was the first time they had the opportunity to size up their competition. The field was a melting pot of anglers representing the far corners of the fishing world. Wiley veterans like 2003 WBS World Champion Scott Rickert of Bradenton, FL were renewing old acquaintances and enjoying the camaraderie unique to fishing, while first time qualifier 21 year-old Jim Hobbs of Wrightsville Beach, NC and other rookies looked on with nervous anticipation of the battle that loomed in front of them. The Anglers registered with the WBS staff and enjoyed the party atmosphere, each with one eye watching the entry to the Los Sueños Beach Club to catch a glimpse of new anglers walking in to see who else they had to compete against if they were going to become the WBS World Champion of Billfishing. Since each angler had been provided the tournament rules weeks in advance, there were few questions and the meeting portion of the night was over quickly. All that was left was to survey their competition, offer a few sincere well wishes and call it an early night, for tomorrow was the first day of the most important fishing tournament of their careers. Day One of the WBS Grand Championships World Qualifier, Thursday, December 9, 2010 The anticipation on the docks was at its highest as the anglers made their way to the Hook Up, at the entry to the world class Los Sueños Marina, to pick up their score cards from the WBS tournament control. Los Sueños was in all its glory as deep blue skies met the mirror-like water of the Pacific Ocean. The anglers readied their tackle as their boats left the docks to meet up with their competitors in Herradura Bay. At 6:30 a.m. the call came from WBS Tournament Control to power up, and engines roared as the boats left the bay for the location each angler, together with their captain and crew, had determined would give them the best chance to catch and release the first fish. At 8:00 a.m. the voice of Chris Martin representing WBS Tournament Control broke the silence calling “lines in” and the tournament was officially underway. Just nine minutes into the day, Gray Ingram aboard the Big Oh was the first to release a sailfish. and became the tournament leader with 100 points. The waters off Los Sueños were being true to their reputation and the anglers were in for a very active day that would test all of their angling skill, patience and stamina. At 8:20 a.m. Greg Voell aboard the Uno Mas joined the scoring column as he released the tournament’s first marlin temporarily taking the lead with 400 points. Within the next few minutes Gary Domel on the Adios, Bill Easum on Super Fly and Larry Drivon on Spanish Fly all scored releases and the field would never look back. By the time Austin Angel on the Sea Angel, captained by his brother B.C. and with his dad Greg Angel as his competing angler, released the last marlin of the day at 2:52 p.m. to beat the 3:00 p.m. “lines out”, 21 marlin and 16 sailfish were caught and released making the day another Costa Rican dream fishing experience. The anglers had the chance to catch their breath for the first time all day as the boats headed back to port, and they listened intently as WBS Tournament Control announced the unofficial Day One results.

Knowing that there was one more day of fishing before the field would be cut to the top five qualifiers, the Day One leaders Gerard Aliseo 1,300 points, Gary Domel 1,000 points, his son Chris Domel 800 points, Greg Voell 800 points and Bill Easum 600 points were pleased, while the rest of the field were anxious for the night to pass quickly so they could get back on the water and score enough points to get into the top five.

Day Two of the WBS Grand Championships World Qualifier, Friday, December 10, 2010 The anglers went about their pre-day routine with greater purpose as they picked up their scorecards and headed to their boats. Their goal was to be in the top five by days-end so they could continue their dream to become the WBS World Champion of Billfishing. Anything less and their tournament was over. A great fishing experience, but an unfulfilled quest, until maybe next year.

foremost in their mind, make the top five to fish another day. Day One leader Gerard Aliseo, who thought he was a lock after his impressive Day One score, was in agony as he could only watch and listen as his competitors’ releases were announced. Jimmy Taylor, Art Kontos and J.W. Godwin, Jr. were making runs at the leaders with two marlin releases each and Greg Voell provided an exciting end to the day with a marlin release at 2:55 p.m., only 5 minutes before the call for “Lines Out”. The two days of competition in the WBS Word Tour Qualifiers were over. As the boats headed home, WBS Tournament Control left the anglers to wonder as results would not be announced until scorecards could be checked and final scoring verified. The anglers were not as concerned with who had the most points, in this unique format with point totals reset to zero for the third and final day, it was the 5th qualifying spot that

was all that was necessary. As they rode the hour back to the dock they wondered if they had missed hearing a competitor’s release. Or if radio control had a momentary lapse. They knew that just one marlin release worth 400 points could put them into the final or end their tournament. All the anglers with their families and crew crowded into the Hook Up as WBS President Jim Simons prepared to announce the top five qualifiers that would be competing in the Championship Round. After thanking all the anglers for demonstrating why they are considered the top anglers in the world, Simons proceeded to announce the qualifiers, beginning with the top qualifier, Chris Domel with a two day total of 1,600. Then a relieved Gerard Aliseo with 1,300 points all accumulated on Day One. In third came Jimmy Taylor and fourth Greg Voell. As the crowd wondered, the final qualifying spot was taken by Gary Domel with 1,000

A crowd had gathered to watch the boats speed from Herradura Bay. Also, a cyber crowd was waiting on line as the entire WBS Grand Championships were being broadcast on Twitter and Facebook for the first time in the tournament’s history. After a tough first day, Tim Hake on the Tunabite joined the chase with the first marlin release at 8:13 a.m. Art Kontos on the Let It Ride scored with a marlin release at 9:18 a.m. and rookie Jim Hobbs climbed the leader board with a marlin release at 10:09 .a.m. Each release by an angler was tracked closely as the field stayed tuned to WBS Tournament Control. Every angler knew their standing and tried their best to keep score on board of the rest of the field. The thought

Gerald Aliseo received congratulations from his competers upon his arrival at the docks on the Southern Pride. points, making it the first time in tournament history that father and son would compete against each other in the World Championship finals.

The 2010 Ambassador’s Award Goes To Ted Smith

The WBS Grand Championship Finals, Saturday, December 11, 2010 This was it. What all the anglers had hoped for. The chance to become the WBS World Champion of Billfishing. Today the anglers would be fishing alone on their own boat, in total control of their own destiny. They had survived the preliminary round. With all anglers starting even, today was the most important day of their fishing career. It did not take long for Gerard Aliseo aboard the Southern Pride to serve notice that he was back in the competition with a marlin release at 8:10 a.m. Greg Voell matched him at 8:33 a.m. and the game was on. The Championship finals proved to be the most competitive in WBS history. As the final day progressed, the competition was extremely close. Hour by hour one angler would take the lead only to be overtaken by another angler’s release. With lines out and the competition to be over at 3 p.m., four of the five anglers were tied in a dead heat at 1:38 p.m. Between 2:12 p.m. and 2:16 p.m. the lead changed hands three times. And a hook up at 2:58 p.m. could have completely changed the final results. Imagine the Greg Voell’s dismay when he learned that his potential world champion winning fish was a Dorado worth no points in a billfish only tournament. Following up on his first marlin of the day, Gerard Aliseo added a three more sails and a marlin at 2:22 p.m. to take the lead for the final time and hold off his intense competitors. Aliseo arrived back at the docks to a reception befitting a Champion as he was greeted with a Champaign shower and the congratulations from his competitions and an adoring crowd. At the final awards banquet hosted by Los Sueños Resort and Marina at their world famous El Galleon waterfront restaurant, Alesio thanked his captain and crew aboard the Southern Pride, owned by his good friend Ted Smith of McIntyre, GA. Alesio told the crowd the he was truly humbled as he accepted the Champions Ring and his new title of WBS World Champion of Billfishing.w

Second only to the WBS World Champion of Billfishing in prestige, annually the World Billfish Series presents the WBS Ambassador Award to the individual who has distinguished themselves for their dedication to the sport of billfishing and their camaraderie with their fellow anglers throughout the year on the WBS World Tour. reaking records is starting to sound like (pardon the pun) a broken record with the West Palm Beach Fishing Club’s annual Silver Sailfish Derby. This year the tournament fleet of 35 boats tallied an incredible 677 sailfish releases January 6th through 8th. The three-day catch average of 6.45 sailfish per boat eclipsed the tournament’s previous catch average record of 6.39 set during the 2006 Derby when 50 boats released 958 sailfish. The numbers don’t have much meaning until you consider that the Derby’s historical average in the 74-year old event is around 1.4 sailfish per boat day. The Derby began with a soggy, but productive first day. A passing cold front brought driving rains and strong winds from the west prompting small craft warnings. Despite the ‘un-Chamber of Commerce–like’ conditions the fleet managed to catch 174 sailfish. The best of the action was the area between Stuart Inlet and the Hutchinson Island power plant. The action moved progressively south the following two days and cool westerly winds continued to stoke an already hot sailfish bite. Team Murray of West Palm Beach posted the single best day of this year’s tournament catching

19 sailfish on the Derby’s second day. That day was also another Derby record breaker with a single day per boat catch average of 8.2 sailfish. On day two the fleet released a total of 287 sailfish. “We had very little time to catch our breath. For a three hour period the tournament radio committee was logging a sailfish release nearly every minute,” commented Derby radioman and Fishing Club chairman Pete Schulz of Fishing Headquarters in Jupiter. The action did

not slow on the Derby’s final day (which is two hours shorter than the first two). A total of 216 sailfish were released. Team Get Lit with Captain Quinton Dierterle at the helm earned top boat honors in this years Derby with 37 sailfish releases. Get Lit’s angler Peter Miller of Pinecrest, Florida won the prestigious Mrs. Henry Rea Trophy for the most individual releases with 18 sailfish. Peter Miller edged out West Palm Beach angler Heather Murray aboard Team Murray who had 17 individual releases. Scott Robins of Miami Beach aboard Weez In The Keys placed third individually with 16 releases. Tom Craig of Jupiter fishing aboard the Big Whoop took fourth place individually with 15 releases. Second place team overall Weez In The Keys lead by Capt. Ray Rosher of Miami scored 34 sailfish releases. Team Murray with family members Mike, Rob and Heather Murray finished third overall with 33 releases. The Ft. Lauderdale based team Barefoot placed fourth overall on time with 30 releases. Barefoot angler Justin Lord earned the Louis S. Boski Trophy for the Derby’s most outstanding catch by landing a 42pound wahoo using a light mono leader and single circle hook. The heaviest weight fish of the tournament was a 44-pound cobia landed by Adam Yunis of Coral Gables aboard the MD 20-20. A total of 71 sailfish were tagged with Billfish Foundation nylon dart tags by tournament anglers this year. The top tag team was Team Murray with 23 tagged sails. The venerable Silver Sailfish Derby will celebrate its 75th anniversary next year on January 4th through 7th, 2012. The Derby, which began in 1935 but was interrupted in 1943, 1944 and 1945 by the Second World War, is recognized as the world’s oldest continually running sailfish tournament. T

he 48th Annual Buccaneer Cup Sailfish Release Tournament and the 8th Annual Florida Fish for Life Billfish Tournament were held in early January with the captain’s meeting and kick off party at the Buccaneer Restaurant on Singer Island. Billed as the Palm Beach Double Shot, the two tournaments were run simultaneously with boats permitted to depart and return to Sailfish Marina in Palm Beach or Castaways Marina in Jupiter.

Fishing started with lines in the water at 8 AM on Thursday, January 20th. In a matter of hours it became apparent that the majority of the action was taking place north of the Ft. Pierce area with Boneshaker taking an early lead in both events being trailed closely by Game On and Sandman, all trolling dead bait. The Princess Lily got into the action using live bait racking up an impressive first day score with an even dozen releases, but would fail to back it up in subsequent days. Weez in the Keys, captained by live bait specialist Ray Rocher, had a tough first day to the south managing only three releases and the Miss Annie, another top live bait team, went scoreless. The fishing was tough with warm weather and calm seas, neither conducive to a hot sailfish bite, but at days end the 29 boats managed to catch and release 102 sails. Day Two dawned about the same time the bite to the north petered out and the fishing closer to Lake Worth Inlet and south showing signs of improving. Weez in the Keys, rumored to be fishing off Boynton Beach, racked up nine releases on live bait and Miss Annie released six while the prior day’s live bait leader, Princess Lily, still fishing north, went blank on the leader board for the day. The top trollers from the first day

caught almost nothing while Uptick released 7, Certifiable had six and Billfisher and Emotional Rescue released four. The final standings for the 8th Annual Florida Fish for Life, which runs two days, had Boneshaker in first place, Game On in second, Sandman in third and Princess Lily in fourth. Boneshaker was awarded a check for $5,000 for the most release points on dead bait and Princess Lily got the $5,000 for most points on live bait. Saturday was the third and final day of fishing for the Buccaneer Cup and it turned out to be a dandy with the lead changing several times during the day and teams fishing with top live and dead bait teams both scoring under even tougher conditions than the first two days. Weez in the Keys posted an impressive even dozen releases on their honey hole to the south while the trollers ran back to the north where Sandman capped their tournament with nine more releases on dead bait and Boneshaker, fishing on one engine after blowing one on the way out that morning, picked off just enough to hang in for third place. The final standings for the 48th Annual Buccaneer Cup had Sandman eking out a victory and a $5,000 check for most points dead bait over Weez in the Keys, which took the $5,000 check for most points on live bait. Boneshaker held in for third and local private boat favorite Intents, owned by Alan Sandler, beat the rest of the field for fourth.

First place with 18 fish went to team Sandman.

The Weez In The Keys took second place on points.

The Buc Cup and Fish for Life handed out tournament prize cash and Calcutta monies totaling $200,000 to the top four boats in the events while earning an impressive amount of money for the tournament beneficiaries. The Fish for Life donates all proceeds to leading colon cancer treatment and research facilities and the Buc Cup donates all proceeds to the Recreational Fishing Alliance, the organization leading the fight to protect sport fishermen’s right to fish. Day one started out a little on the cool side, sunny with light breezes. The conditions were just right, there were 107 hookups and 70 of those being released. Day two the weather took a turn and the sailfish seemed to seek waters more to their liking. The bite definitely slowed down. As the day wrapped up there were only 36 sailfish hooked up and 26 of which were released.

Team Bodacious, fishing out of Islamorda, took the Top Boat award and Allen Wood (on the far right) was named the Championship Angler and WBS Top Angler.

Even at lines out there was still a question as to who would be names the top anglers. Fishing aboard the Bodacious, Islamorada skipper Taylor Walsh guided anglers Henry Danzig, Nick Stanczyk, Togger Wightman and Allen Wood to eight sailfish releases to be named the winning team. It was the first tournament victory for Walsh, in his role as a boat captain. “It’s pretty exciting, but it’s still a team sport and you’re only as good as your anglers and mates,” said Walsh of his team, who are all Islamorada residents. The entourage, including mate Shay Danzig, began the second and final day of the tournament in the lead with six releases. They quickly caught a doubleheader, but didn’t see another fish the rest of the day. “Toward the end we were pretty nervous,” said Wood, who was named grand champion angler for his four releases. “We were holding our breath for the last 15 minutes.”

Fishing out of Miami, team Wound Up placed second.

Walsh said live goggle eyes and threadfin herring were the team’s bait of choice for the tournament. In second place with seven releases was, team Wound Up, with Miami anglers Warren Sands, Brett Dudas and Rob Ramirez, as well as Bill Danko from Cincinnati. John Dudas was the skipper. The third place team on Gotcha with six releases was Les Dunson of Winter Haven, and John Reynolds of Homestead, Florida. Allen Wood was presented the WBS Top Angler Plaque and notified of his eligability for the World Billfish Series Grand Championships to take place December 7th - 10th in Costa Rica at the Los Sueños Resort and Marina.w

Los Sue単os Signature Series Kicks Off the Pacific Division with a Bang

011 represents the 8th annual Los Sueños Signature Billfish Series. The first leg of the Series, held January 25-29, had 41 participating teams and 161 individual anglers. Although the fishing was slow by Los Sueños standards with regards to numbers only, it has to be conceded that the marlin bite this year was incredible. The 43 participating boats in the 2010 Signature Series caught and released only 20 marlin over six days of fishing. This year, the 41 teams participating in the first leg caught and released 80 marlin in just 3 days of fishing!! All told, there were a total of 189 billfish released; of that, 109 were sailfish and 80 marlin.

DAY 1 The real action of the first leg of the 2011 Los Sueños Signature Billfish Series got underway at 8:05 am when Sea Angel released the first fish – a marlin of the tournament. By 10 am there were 15 billfish released (10 sails and 5 marlin) and by 11:22 am the number had risen to 25 billfish releases (14 sails and 11 marlin). At noon it was Spanish Fly leading the pack with 3 marlin releases and 1,500 points, then Adios with 2 marlin and 1,000 points, followed by Southern Pride, Shotgun, Penguin and Sea Angel tied for third with 600 points each. At the end of the day though, it was Adios in first place with 4 marlin releases and 2,000 points, followed by Spanish Fly still with 1,500 points and Sea Angel in third based on time with 1,200 points, tied for points with Dragin Fly and Muy Caliente. A total of 62 billfish were released, 36 of them sails and 26 marlin.

DAY 2 By 10 am on Day 2, the marlin count had already reached 30, with 43 sails for a total of 73 billfish releases. Adios was clinging to their first place lead. Dragin Fly skipped past Spanish Fly with 2 sail releases for 1,700 points and second place for the moment. Spanish Fly managed to find a marlin though and was tied for first with

DAY 3 There were 144 billfish releases (82 sails and 62 marlin) by 10 am on Day 3. Spanish Fly had moved up to 2,800 points thanks to 4 more sailfish releases. Dragin Fly was in second with 2,600 points, followed by Sea Angel with 2,400 points. By noon though, Spanish Fly’s lead was shaken by Sea Angel, having achieved 2,900 points and taking first on time and tied for points with Dragin Fly. Spanish Fly was still in the hunt though with 2,800 points. As of 2 pm, the outcome of the tournament was still unsure. Dragin Fly had moved into first on time with 3,000 points, tied with Sea Angel. Spanish Fly stayed put with their 2,800 points. The final results of the first leg of the Los Sueños Signature Billfish Series were posted on the Los Sueños Facebook page (look for Los Sueños) at 7:26 pm on Saturday, just before the official awards ceremony, held at the Los Sueños Beach Club.

Adios by noontime. Sea Angel was picking up speed though, and tied for third with Dragin Fly, each having reached 1,800 points. Gotcha came into the play around 2 pm to mix things up a little, managing 2,200 points and tying for first with Spanish Fly. By 2:30 pm though, Spanish Fly squeaked past Gotcha with a double header and 2,400 points. At day’s end though, it was still Spanish Fly in first with their 2,400 points, Dragin Fly in second with 2,300 points and Gotcha in third with 2,200 points. Gotcha took top honors for the dailies though, with 1600 points amassed over 8 hours of fishing on Day 2 alone.

1st Sea Angel: 3,500 points, 5 sailsfish 6 marlin, 2nd Dragin Fly: 3,100 points, 11 sailfish, 4 marlin (on time), 3rd Pescadora: 3,100 points, 1 sailfish and 6 marlin. AWARDS Over 500 people gathered at the Los Sueños Beach Club Saturday evening to celebrate the remarkable accomplishment of the winning teams and see them receive the rewards for their pelagic conquests. TOP ANGLER Only 200 points ahead of the runner up, Austin Angel of Sea Angel, Mike Rankey of Pescadora took the title of Top Angler with
