What is a What is the PLN? expedition?! PLN is a personal learning network focused on an educator’s choice of developing a passion and expertise for a particular topic ! in education.

By definition, an “expedition”, is “a journey undertaken by a group of people with a particular purpose, especially that of exploration, research, or war.”

You’ll navigate this technological and pedagogical landscape of numerous expedition choices with the guidance of your colleagues, students, and possibly professors.

PLN supports exploration of education topics with educators across the globe. Adventures will be pedagogical, practical, and technological – using a wide variety of face-to-face and communication networks.

The guiding philosophy of PLN: “Education is not a mark, diploma, job, or money . . .it is a process, a never-ending one.” - Bel Kaufman

Participants may join multiple expeditions simultaneously – or choose to engage on a single one. !

Photography

There are many snapshots of education worth exploring via social media, including dailyTwitter feed, Google Communities, and blogs. Tech tips for teachers, thoughtprovoking quotes, articles highlighting innovation in teaching, and snapshots of conferences and podcasts are a few of many lenses you may apply in the vast array of viewing possibilities. Whatever vantage points you wish to assume, invest time in a good lens – a tool such as Feedly to aggregate your social media. Spend time using this lens each day, creating a filter of twitter lists to sort tweets, and consider taking new snapshots to share with your social media community.
