FROM THE H E AD OF SCH OOL I am pleased to present our 2020–21 Annual Report which summarizes God’s abundant provision through financial blessings and anticipates what He will do through us this year. As God promises in Romans 8:28, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good.” We saw that promise fulfilled in a remarkable school year. By God’s grace we were one of the only schools to provide in-person learning five days per week. We also used the experiences of the pandemic to upgrade our IT infrastructure, completely renovate the Hub, and create our new innovative program called WestminsterYOU. It was a challenging year with mask mandates, games rescheduled, and even events postponed. But it was also one marked by the innovative, courageous, and faithful work of our staff and the consistent support of our community! I am grateful to report that last year we received more than $2.1 million in donations towards annual, capital, and strategic projects. Not only did total giving increase, but we also exceeded our giving goal thanks to the generous support of nearly 400 supporters and 207 Investors Circle members. Our theme for 2021–22 is Reaching Higher: Gratitude. This theme will focus our attention on practical ways we reflect Christ by manifesting a spirit of graciousness and gratitude in thought, word, and deed. Your generous gifts and support are indispensable to our goal of engaging the hearts and minds of our students. Your investment of time, talent, and treasure enables us to equip students to Reach Higher as they prepare to serve Christ in college and career. Thank you for making an eternal investment in them!

We are grateful for the impact Westminster has had on our own children. We are confident our four kids received a broad education, deep in God’s Word. They challenged and were challenged. They learned to think for themselves, while understanding worldviews. We value and appreciate Senior Leadership’s vision and courage to make tough decisions that have the best interests of students and families in mind. We want to express gratitude for the way the Westminster community banded together during the unpredictable days of the pandemic through serving, praying, and generously investing in our school. It takes the entire community to sacrificially give to continue the vision and mission of Westminster. Thank you for supporting the Lord’s work at Westminster! As I reflect on the 2020–21 school year, I am grateful for a Christian community that prayed for and supported each other during a time of financial hardship through the Wildcat We CARE program. I am grateful for faithful, loyal donors who gave above and beyond to exceed our annual fundraising goal and help pay down debt. I am grateful for leadership that is fully committed to advance Westminster’s vision. And, I am grateful for the incredible blessing it is to be a part of and serve the Westminster community. So many reasons to rejoice. Jim Marsh, Head of School Emeritus

God’s Abundant Faithfulness God truly sustained us during a challenging year. By His grace, we were able to provide our students with an excellent, in-person education five days per week. Sports, performances, and other events continued — with modifications — but they continued. Even in precarious circumstances, our students grew in Christ and in their love for one another.

We have and continue to pursue a beautifully diverse school which reflects God’s Kingdom. Our different backgrounds amplify the amazing gifts the Lord has given all of us and help us grow in our faith and in our knowledge of His Kingdom. As we celebrate our God-given gifts and differences, we remain firmly planted in the foundation of Jesus Christ. We never waver in our love for Him and our daily desire to honor Him in all we do.

INNOVAT IO N & CR E AT IV IT Y

Using God-Given Gifts COVID restrictions posed neverbefore-seen changes to every aspect of life at Westminster last year, but this didn’t stop our tenacious and innovative faculty, staff, and students from creatively persevering in their endeavors. Teachers engaged with athome learners, while students transitioned the fall play into a film and performed in livestreamed concerts. Clubs, sports, and extracurriculars continued with modifications, keeping our campus buzzing with activity and relationships.

THE CL ASS O F 2021 Senior year for the Class of 2021 looked different than anyone had anticipated. Despite precautions such as masks and social distancing, our 159 members of the Class of 2021 persevered, nurtured their community, and thrived. They celebrated and crossed the finish line at an outdoor commencement ceremony in May.

Keeping Our Community Close Community-building events had to look different last year, but staff and parents embraced the change. The annual talent show and a new event, Rock Paper Scissors, included a combination of pre-recorded and live elements and were livestreamed to classrooms and homes. Parents held prayer groups and other events like ice skating and golfing outdoors. Our community truly lived out our 2020–21 theme, Love Your Neighbor.

“God blessed us richly. After experiencing total shutdown in 2020, our need for community was greater than ever. Our attendance at everything we did was bigger than we expected. Glory to God! I think we are closer than ever with a deeper desire to stay connected.”

Why Our Students Are Grateful

18

Carter Hickel ’21 “I am thankful for the way that Westminster teachers interweave Christianity into everything. We have Bible classes, but the Christian worldview is also an important part of math, chemistry, English, and every class on our schedule.”

Anna Fregene (senior) “Being an athlete at Westminster is different than being an athlete anywhere else. We let Christ define us and we remember Who we are playing for. Coaches encourage us to do our very best, and we try our best to win, but at the end of the game, our goal is to honor God.”

Mary Lauer (senior) “I am most thankful for the academic and spiritual preparation. I feel strong and wellequipped to take on the world and am excited for the upcoming future. I have been supported every minute of every year in every way possible and pushed to be the best version of myself by my family, peers, and teachers at school. I am confident in my education and faith and cannot wait to use these strengths in the years to come after high school.”

Matthew Bergman (sophomore) “I am grateful I was able to learn in person, see my friends, and compete in sports last year. I am really thankful for Westminster.”

Thank you! We have much to be grateful for as we reflect on God’s faithfulness and provision during an extraordinary year. God truly did abundantly more than we could ask or imagine. None of us would have thought this would be a year we exceeded our giving goal — yet, that is exactly what happened, with more than $2.1 million in giving. This enabled us to accomplish even more to Reach Higher, enhancing students’ experiences and furthering our mission. Praise the Lord! And thank you for your investment in this transformational work of preparing students to serve Christ in college and career. I hope you found many reasons to practice gratitude as you read this report and reflected on what God is doing in the lives of our students, staff, and families. This is an exciting time here and I am so thankful to be back at Westminster as both a parent and staff member, and part of this important work.

With Gratitude,

Jeremy Marsh, Head of Institutional Advancement

Thank you again for your commitment to Westminster’s mission and vision through your giving, leadership, and prayer. May the Lord continue to bless Westminster as we seek to be a blessing to others. It is a privilege to be on this journey with you.
