Semster-05 Srirangapatna MEASURE DRAW AND DOCUMENTATION

The intent was to understand the fabric of the town of Srirangapatna, to know how ‘publicness” worked at a town scale. Streets, houses and important monuments were documented as a part of the semester’s curriculum. The goal was to draw a relation between people, culture and the history of the place.

Location- It is around 850 metres from the temple. This is quite a busy street, it houses a lot of shops. As we move away from temple, slowly number of houses increase in the lane. The road is about four metres wide, having buildings either of two storey or three, on either sides.

Sections of Srirangapatna can be dissected into three typical spaces – Public (the road), Semi-private (road offset) and Private (house).

The road offset becomes the most active space, with multiple activities including washing and drying clothes , vehicle parking , evening chats , making the space as an extended part of the house.

Semster-04 Margosa house, Mysuru.

The intent of this exercise is to help students to relook and access thier drafting skills, post lockdown

The selcted proiect is a hundred years old residential building owned by the ancestral royal family. It is a house in a site area about 100 square meter, in city center. The house contains four bedrooms with a living area, kitchen and a dining area. The house also has a dense garden in front with variety of plant species, out which is a huge Margosa tree, hence the house gets the name ‘MARGOSA HOUSE’.

The architectural elements are captured in the drawings on site. The excerise mainly focuses on the on site skills that an architect has to have, which unfortunately was missed out due to no related program study for the batch during covid time.
