Waverly Christmas Greetings On Main This Annual Holiday Event features live Christmas windows along with Santa Claus, horse drawn trolley rides, an ice carver and FREE Nestle hot cocoa.

The Waverly Chamber of Commerce and Waverly merchants will host Christmas Greetings on Main Thursday, December 8th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The event will begin at 6:00 pm with an Opening Ceremony at the Veteran’s Tribute located at West 4th Street and Bremer Avenue. The first 50 kids to arrive at the Opening Ceremonies will receive a free gift from Santa’s elves to help light up the night! The German tradition of ringing church bells will be used to signal the start of Platinum Sponsors:

Christmas Greetings on Main at 6:00 pm. Following the bell ringing over 40 storefronts located on Bremer Avenue between Fourth Street East and Fourth Street West will come alive with holiday scenes. Be sure to see Santa who will be listening to children’s requests at his home in Kohlmann Park. Warm up with a cup of hot cocoa donated by Nestlé USA at any of the “Hot Spots” located throughout downtown. Also don’t miss Ron Dillavou with Chain Reaction

Carvings who will be carving amazing ice sculptures again this year. Free horse drawn trolley rides will be available throughout the night with pick up and drop off at Fareway. Everyone is encouraged to join in the holiday spirit and take part in an event that has become a tradition for the Waverly community. Waverly’s Holiday Happenings Kiwanis Christmas Tree Lot Opens Friday, November 25th The Kiwanis Christmas Tree Lot is back! Scotch Pine, White Pine, and several size of Fraser Firs are for sale. You can also purchase door swags, wreaths, and roping. The Christmas Tree Lot is located in the Miller True Value parking lot across from McDonald’s. Festival of Trees Wednesday, November 30th Thursday, December 15th Classroom Technology Center, Wartburg College Celebrate holiday cheer at the Festival of Trees with over 30 decorated Christmas trees for all to enjoy. The trees are decorated by area clubs, businesses and organizations. Admission is free and the festival is open to the public. Santa’s Arrival Saturday, December 3rd, 2-6 pm Santa’s House in Kohlmann Park Welcome Santa to Waverly at his house in Kohlmann Park! Be sure to bring your wish list and a camera to capture priceless memories with the Jolly Ol’ Fella himself! North Pole Party Saturday, December 3rd, 1-3 pm Waverly Chamber of Commerce Stop by the North Pole Party before welcoming Santa to Waverly! Write letters to Santa, hear holiday music and mix-up your own special blend of Reindeer Food for Christmas Eve! Holiday Open Houses Friday, November 18th Saturday, November 19th Kick of the holiday shopping season with Waverly’s annual Holiday Open Houses full of seasonal savings and holiday fun! Wartburg Waverly Festival of Trees

The holiday display, open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, combines the efforts of the college and the community, with Christmas trees decorated by academic departments, offices and student organizations at Wartburg and community businesses and nonprofits. The festival attracts about 5,000 guests, including those visiting the community for events like Christmas with Wartburg, Waverly’s Christmas Greetings on Main, Wartburg’s December Commencement, the Wartburg Community Symphony Holiday Concert and the Wartburg B e g i n s N ove m b e r 3 0 t h Candlelight Vespers Service. Waverly Dollars for Holiday Gift Giving

Cookie Walk Christmas Cookie Walk is Back for Christmas on Main The Waverly-Shell Rock FFA Chapter is sponsoring a Christmas Cookie Walk at Christmas on Main, December 8, from 6-8 p.m. at the Cobblestone Inn & Suites on E. Bremer Ave. All proceeds go to the April 4 Go-HAWK (Hunger Awareness With Kids) Pack Project, involving all 9-12 graders at the W-SR High School. That day students will be packaging dry meals to be distributed locally, nationally and internationally. Students will also learn about local and global hunger and poverty. The Cookie Walk is a fundraiser for the Go-HAWK Pack Project with a goal of 40,000+ packaged meals. Meals from the Heartland will provide the dry food and match local dollars raised. A special thanks to Cobblestone Inn for hosting the Cookie Walk and to Waverly Fareway for donating and baking the cookies for this fundraiser. A variety of cookies will be offered for $5 a dozen. The Go-HAWK Pack Project is being coordinated by W-SR senior Macy Janssen as an Agribusiness and a Nexus project. Other team members include: Gabby Garbes and Bailey Schneider.
