Porcelain Painters Guild

Practice the art of porcelain painting, also called china painting. Paint is applied to any type of porcelain piece, such as a dish or flat tile, and the piece is later fired in a kiln. Must bring your own supplies. New painters are welcome to observe and will have the opportunity to learn from more experienced painters.

Art Quilters

Explore quilting as an art form with the motto “form over function”. Create beautiful tapestries by layering textiles such as fabric, beading, and decorative stitching. Must bring your own supplies. New quilters welcome to observe, share ideas and create! Registration not required.

Nimble Thimbles

Hand sewing is more than just simple hems and mends; be creative with crossstitching, embroidery and more! Must bring your own supplies and ideas. Registration not required.

Senior Hikes & Senior Sport Trips

“TAKE A HIKE” WITH US!

Each month, we will hit some local trails to walk and hike, enjoy a golf outing, a canoe adventure, experience zip-lining and more. Participants on hikes must be able to walk independently on different types of terrain. Some places we go may have easy or more difficult experiences for seniors to choose from. You will need to provide your own snacks and water for hiking outings, and lunch may be an option offered on some sport trips. These outings are weather dependent and if we need to cancel the outing we will notify everyone as soon as possible. Departure and return times vary. The cost of a hiking outing is $3 for transportation and cost will vary on sport trips. To see a current list of activites, visit HERE.

SENIOR OPEN PLAY PICKLEBALL

Join us at Academy Gym for Open Play Pickleball! You bring your own paddle and we provide the pickleballs and the people for you to play with. All levels are welcome.

Simulate real life bowling by using simple motion controls. With the flick of a wrist you’ll become a pro! Don’t miss out on all the strikes and spares.

Bus Trips

Lunch Bunch

Let’s do lunch! We might try something new, hit some favorites, or find something off of the beaten path. The cost of a lunch bunch outing is $3 for transportation. Lunch will always be Dutch treat. Trips are based out of the Enrichment Center (Franklin), Longview Recreation Center (Spring Hill), Fairview Recreation Complex, and the Nolensville Recreation Complex. Registration is required.

Day Trips

Each month, we offer day trips and outings to places all throughout middle Tennessee and beyond! From museums and galleries, to distilleries and casinos, we’re always up for an adventure. Trips are based out of the Enrichment Center (Franklin), Longview Recreation Center (Spring Hill), Fairview Recreation Complex, and the Nolensville Recreation Complex. Registration is required.

The WCPR Therapeutics Division is comprised of Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists (CTRS) who assist people with disabilities in developing skills, knowledge and behavior for daily living and community involvement.

We work to improve the physical, cognitive, social and leisure needs of the participant. Our goal is to improve leisure functioning and independence.

We currently offer Therapeutic programs at two WCPR recreation facilities: Franklin Recreation Complex and Williamson County Recreation Complex at Nolensville.

During the summer, the WCPR’s Therapeutics Department/Staff is involved with Camp Will, a therapeutic recreation summer camp for children, adolescents and young adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities Regular activities/programming will resume in August.

Friendsday Wednesday

Wednesday should always be Friendsday!

Come hang out with us as we create a fun craft or project and make a yummy snack to enjoy together. The theme for each month will change. In August, we will have an End of Summer Party!

Join us for a delicious dinner and bring a friend. Enjoy dinner and a festive atmosphere! Add an hour of exciting bingo and you have a fun filled evening. Therapeutics Bingo - Nolensville

Come out and enjoy a game day with friends. We will serve light refreshments while playing Bingo. Who knows, you may go home with a prize if you win Bingo! We look forward to seeing everyone

Respite

Join us for an afternoon of games, crafts and fun! Participants will need to bring a lunch, snack, drink and any personal care items. Participants must be a resident of Williamson County.

New Participants: An assessment must be completed by a parent/legal guardian prior to registration. New participant must also be present during the assessment.

Therapeutics Fitness Fun

Come join us and get fit and have fun at the same time. We begin with stretching by using exercises and resistance bands then transition into strengthening with light hand weights and stability balls. We complete our workout with a 30 minute walk. Participants must be independent and can follow directions in a small group.

This program offers different activities each month, such as dinner and movie, socials, karaoke night, and dances. Dinner, refreshments and dessert are also provided.

Meal Prep 101

In this class, participants will make a meal for two to take home and eat or freeze for another day. Participants will also get to try the finished meal that the instructor prepares. In August participants will make Tater Tot casserole.

In this new class, participants will participate and interact in strange science experiments and enjoy a variety of sensory activities.

Movie Matinee

Join us at the Williamson County Performing Arts Center (112 Everbright Ave., Franklin) for a FREE movie matinee! Show time is at 10:00am and doors open at 9:30am (NO admission after 10:10am).

Concessions are not available but patrons are welcome to bring a bottle of water. Please call (615) 790-5719 ext. 2033 to ask about the movie title.

Lunch Bunch

Let’s do lunch! We might try a new restaurant or hit one of our favorites, but each month we will eat yummy food while socializing with friends. Transportation is not provided for this program. We will meet at the front of each restaurant before going in as a group. Before each Lunch Bunch activity, participants will be contacted with additional details. Lunch will always be Dutch treat.

Come out and join us for two open Therapeutics splash pad nights at Franklin. Participants and their families or caregivers are welcome to come out and enjoy the Splash pad. All ages welcome. Please note: For both of these dates, the splash pad will only be open to Therapeutics participants and their families/support staff; however, the outdoor pool will still be open to the general public.
