Community Impact Events
members BOLDly volunteered throughout Oklahoma City to support JLOC’s community partners through various Community Impact Events (CIE) in 2022-23. CIE is a unique placement that allows League Members to support several partner organizations throughout the year. Jamie Benda and Pooja Singhal were 2022-23 Community Impact Events Project Managers.
This year, CIE volunteers made an impact by helping children in foster care shop for back-to-school supplies at Citizens Caring for Children, supporting DreamNight at the Oklahoma City Zoo, providing STEAM learning activities at Geekapalooza with Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma and decorating Positive Tomorrows for the holidays. CIE volunteers wrapped up the year with spring activities supporting the Oklahoma City Zoo’s literacy activities from children at the

Read Across Oklahoma event in April and the Girls on the Run 5k event in May. More than 670 foster kids are served at Back2School, where they get to “shop” for school supplies and clothes. Some volunteers help stock and prepare the floor, while others are personal shoppers for the kids. The Back2School program provides one new outfit, shoes, a backpack and school supplies.
