CONCERT GUEST BIO Sterling E. Murray retired in 2007 as professor emeritus of music history from the faculty of West Chester University. He taught in the School of Music for thirty-five years and served as interim Dean and chair of the Music History Department. Dr. Murray’s research has concentrated on instrumental music of the late eighteenth century. He has published and lectured widely and is the author of The Music of Antonio Rosetti, ca. 1750-1792: A Thematic Catalog (Harmonie Park Press, 1976) and The Career of an EighteenthCentury Kapellmeister: The Life and Music of Antonio Rosetti published in 2014 in the Eastman Studies in Music, University of Rochester Press. Dr. Murray is the founding president of the International Society for EighteenthCentury Music and a Fellow of the John D. Rockefeller Library at Colonial Williamsburg. He currently is involved in a study of music and theater in Philadelphia during the early years of the Republic.
