ETO return with one of Handel’s most celebrated works, Giulio Cesare, a majestic opera in which the characters are driven to extreme feelings and actions, and in which the music strikes the heart. A story of passion and revenge, featuring a treasure trove of great arias with immense dramatic intensity, the opera follows the events surrounding Julius Caesar’s conquest of Egypt, as well as his uneasy alliance and romance with fabled Egyptian queen, Cleopatra.

Performed on period instruments in partnership with the much-praised Old Street Band. The choir joining us will be: Circle Singers of Leamington Spa.

Lucrezia Borgia is a tragedy of great pathos. Donizetti created in Lucrezia one of his greatest roles - known as one of history’s most famous poisoners, she is a cunning strategist and a loving mother at the same time, a complex woman in a dangerous situation.
