TOP STORIES 2012 Short summaries of our best-rated speakers’ presentations from Social Business Collaboration 2012 conference: Rick Mans, Social Media Lead at Capgemini, the Netherlands, showcased about the Social Workplace and how to rethink Communication and Collaboration in the Age of Social Networks. He firstly discussed how to develop business strategies for collaboration lifecycle management and then moved on to the question of portals benchmarking & KPIs to obtain the highest ROI possible. Mr. Mans also dealt with the topic of earning money with the use of social money in order to get a solid ROI after a period of 3-6 months. The focus then shifted to his experience with one of the biggest professional Social Network in the world: Yammer, and Capgemini´s hands-on and concrete approach to this collaboration tool. The final topic Mr. Mans tackled was how to manage collaboration effectively by combining Collaboration, Content Management and Information Overload. Gabriele Maltinti, Group Director, Knowledge Management and Sharing at Sodexo, France, tackled the topic of social collaborative tools and how to increase the effectiveness of portals through user-centered usability and content management. On the topic of employee empowerment, Mr. Maltinti discussed whether the collaboration platforms have killed the Corporate Intranet. The subject of how to win users acceptance was raised when Mr. Maltinti explained that “people work better together they know each other on a personal level” and collaboration tools enable that process. Mr. Maltinti ended his presentation by demonstrating the reasons why Sodexo found Jive to be a very suitable Collaboration tool within the company. Mike Lightfoot, Global HR Communications Manager at AkzoNobel N.V., the Netherlands presented on increasing cross-company collaboration through the use of an internal video-sharing platform following a three step-approach: the reasons of creating OneTube, the purpose of OneTube, and finally the present and future of OneTube. Mr. Lightfoot discussed the collaborative tool created by AkzoNobel called One and pointed out that one of the requirements for the creation of this tool was a solid internal communications structure. OneTube was then developed as a video-sharing platform within the company following a three-step iterative process: stream
the video, test the platform and make it available and finally officially launch the platform. One Tube is now used to share important company information, share best practices and participate in conversations with AkzoNobel’s employees about key themes or issues. rd
