It is my privilege to welcome you to the 2024-2025 performance season at Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA)! I am so honored to introduce this year’s amazing lineup of student performances and events.
This school year marks an exceptional milestone, as OCSA has now resided and flourished in the city of Santa Ana for 25 years! Over the past quarter of a century, the OCSA campus in Santa Ana has seen countless performances and served as the launching pad for thousands of dreams. Our campus has also provided a home away from home for students (and staff!) from Santa Ana and beyond. I cannot wait to see how our legacy within Santa Ana continues to grow and evolve.
As we open yet another exciting chapter in the history of the school, I would like to give a warm welcome to our new Chief Operations Officer, Dr. Gregory Endelman. Not only does he bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position, but he is also a great and caring human being who is ready to do what it takes to help our school be the best it can be for our students and staff.
I am looking forward to partnering with Dr. Endelman, along with our esteemed administrators, faculty, and staff, to take OCSA into this next chapter!

We provide an unparalleled arts and academic education in a creative, challenging, and nurturing environment to a diverse group of students who are passionate about the arts, preparing them to reach their highest potential.
Established in 1987, the nationally recognized Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA) offers a dynamic school culture that enables students to flourish as artists and scholars. The school currently serves a diverse student body of approximately 2,300 students in grades 7-12 from more than 100 cities throughout Southern California.
In addition to offering a challenging college-preparatory academic program that produces high-achieving, motivated scholars, OCSA provides aspiring young artists with the opportunity to refine their skills and flourish in one of 17 arts conservatories. Each year, more than 200 concerts, recitals, staged performances, and exhibitions are presented at a variety of venues in Orange County and throughout the world, providing students with the unique experience of entertaining and inspiring thousands of audience members.
OCSA is a donation-dependent public charter school; no student is offered or denied admission based on financial capacity. The school’s rigorous academic education coupled with advanced arts training has impacted many students, molding generations of creative thinkers, leaders, artists, innovators, and entrepreneurs.

A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR OF TONIGHT’S MUSICAL
During his presidency Harry S. Truman was asked how he makes his decisions. He said “ I ask my advisors to study the situation and give me their opinions, then I retire to my office and I spend hours going over all these papers, reading everything I’ve been provided and then I make the decision”. The reporter then asked “What happens, Mr. President if you’ve made the wrong decision”? To which he replied “Then I make another decision”. I think about this anecdote at least once a day.
Our lives are full of decisions from the moment we wake up, should I make coffee or buy it, do I need a jacket, which route should I take to work. All easy and mundane, but then there are the larger decisions, the ones that can haunt and torture us or freeze us, making it impossible to move forward. Decisions that cause great change. I think about our seniors making their big decisions right now. They are at a moment of pivot in their lives. This being the first of many decisions they will make. I think about the moments of great decision we all face, and in those moments I think about what Truman said.
This piece explores the pivot points we all experience, whether through the eyes of a well known figure or your neighbor. “It’s about one moment” It is that collection of moments that create our lives.

AMELIA BARRON (DIRECTOR)
Amelia Barron has been teaching dance and musical theatre in LA and Orange County for the past 16 years. She is a proud Alumna, now faculty member and Conservatory Manager at Orange County School of the Arts. Amelia served on the Artistic Team for esteemed company Shakespeare Orange County.
Amelia has been directing, choreographing and producing shows in Orange County for the past 12 years with shows at Orange Coast College, Shakespeare Orange County, Orange County School of the Arts, Huntington Central Park and Grand Central Art Center.
Some of her favorite projects include Pirates of Penzance, Mamma Mia, Antony + Cleopatra and As You Like it, Illium and Ordinary Days. She was the assistant director for the launch of Temptation! An original musical adaptation with Peter Uribe. Amelia is an accomplished vocalist and has had the privilege to work with some of the top names in Musical Theatre and Jazz. Some of her favorites include Tony winner, Marvin Hamlish (A Chorus Line), Tony Winner Lindsay Mendez (Dogfight, Wicked),Tony nominated Matthew Morrison (Glee, Light in The Piazza), Tony Nominated Susan Egan (Beauty and the Beast, Hercules), David Burnham (Wicked, Light in the Piazza) Danny Gurwin (A New Brain, The Scarlet Pimpernel), Barbra Morrison (Grammy winner) and Jeff Hamilton (The Jeff Hamilton Trio, Clayton-Hamilton Orchestra). She has been featured on a number of award winning albums and in music videos.
JAROD SHEAHAN (MUSIC DIRECTOR)
Jarod is a classically trained pianist that has been playing for close to 40 years. He was born and raised in Davenport, IA, and has lived in Southern California for 29 years.
For the last 25 years, Jarod has taught music at Crossroads School for Arts and Sciences in Santa Monica, CA. He started in California as a performer/musician and has toured the world teaching music. Jarod is also a composer and arranger of all styles of music.
Jarod has worked for many schools in Southern California as a Musical Director. He has musically directed shows for California State Long Beach and OCSA since 2006. Over the years he has had the honor of collaborating with Susan Egan, Jason Robert Brown, Krysta Rodriguez, Eden Espinosa, Liz Callaway, Ali Stroker, David Burnham, Jared Gertner, Jack Black and Jessica Vosk.

About the Musical Theatre Conservatory
CONSERVATORY OVERVIEW
The Musical Theatre Conservatory offers a rigorous, supportive, and comprehensive course of study for students who are passionate about the art of storytelling through song, dance, and text performance. In each year of study, students concentrate on musical theatre repertoire, vocal technique, and acting skills. Middle school students experience a broad-based introduction to acting, musical theatre, and performance technique in preparation for the high school program. High school students receive an innovative arts education similar to that of a collegiate arts program, supported by a comprehensive curriculum that balances performance, content creation, and technique. The conservatory places particular emphasis on developing healthy artistic habits, experimenting with styles of theatre, learning the history of the form, and the practical accumulation of effective audition and performance skills to prepare for college and beyond.

UNIQUE EXPERIENCES
The Musical Theatre Conservatory offers its students the unique opportunity to participate in Performing with the Pros, a pre-professional experience through which students audition to study and perform alongside a celebrated Broadway star. This annual event is the culmination of a threeweek artist-in-residence program, where the guest artist works with the students to develop a fully staged production. Students share the stage with Broadway legends and gain performance insights and critiques from industry professionals.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
As a performer, Mr. Ryan Miller studied with members of the SITI company, specifically J.Ed Araiza and Ellen Lauren, who cast him as Oberon in her tap dance-infused rendition of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. He also worked with Michael Hackett on an adaptation of Helen by Euripides, along with various local theatre companies. Locally, he has worked with the Torrance Theatre Company, Coeurage Theatre Company, Shakespeare Orange County, American Coast Theater Company, and Pacific Symphony.
Mr. Miller’s film and television credits include All Summer Long, Winesburg: Death, A Lady, When Pressed, and Sanity. He was part of the development and performance of the 2017 original play Paper Cranes. Mr. Miller is the coauthor of The Cordray Christmas Variety Hour, a new play that had its world premiere in 2022. Directing credits include Learned Ladies, Shaina Taub’s musical adaptation of As You Like It (2018 JRAY Award for Direction and Best Ensemble), Antigone, Pride and Prejudice, Charley’s Aunt, Peter and the Starcatcher, Spoon River Anthology, and Something Rotten.
Mr. Miller is the recipient of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Acting Fellowship, as well as the Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme Award for Artistic Merit. An arts educator for more than 15 years, he was awarded the Outstanding Orange County Educator Award for his work at OCSA in 2018. Mr. Miller holds a Bachelor of Arts in theatre from Vanguard University and a Master of Fine Arts in theatre from UCLA.

The Master Artist Series supports high-profile visiting artists who create meaningful experiences for our student artists. CNH KIWIN’S (California, Nevada, Haiwaii), similar to its KEY CLUB counterparts, is an student-led club that stretches among multiple schools, including OCSA. This club promotes a sense of community and allows students easy access to various COMMUNITY SERVICE events. Students can learn to strengthen skills such as LEADERSHIP, collaborating with others, and can learn the significance of supporting your community. This looks great on COLLEGE APPLICATIONS, especially since joining this club can open up opportunities for SCHOLARSHIPS, AWARDS, and NETWORKING.
