Experiences The following arts experiences are designed to be enjoyed in smaller groups and will be timed to occur in 15-25 minute cycles that will repeat throughout the day. Animation Studio Experience Marvel as your two-dimensional drawings come to life! In this enchanting experience, go on an interactive drawing journey as you create pieces of animation and watch as your images fly off the page. Culinary Arts Experience Roll up your sleeves and make a new dish from start to finish with OCSA’s Mekjian Family Culinary Arts & Hospitality Conservatory students and instructors in this exciting hands-on cooking demonstration that is kid friendly and family approved. This experience has two breakout groups: one for younger chefs ages 5-8 and one for older chefs ages 9-11. Green Screen Experience Ever wonder how filmmakers at Marvel, Lucasfilm, and Disney make movie magic? This arts experience takes you through the process of movie making using a green screen. Explore being both in front of the camera and behind it to see first-hand how this game-changing film tool works, while inserting yourself into an awesome action scene! Night at the Museum Experience Step into the first-ever ‘OCSA Museum’ and blur the lines between the art and the artist! Learn beginning painting techniques to create your own work of art, and then sit for a portrait to inspire other artists! You can also dabble in art history and fashion design to try your hand at wearable art. Popular Music Experience Harness your inner rock star and step into the spotlight alongside OCSA’s Popular Music Conservatory bands for a crash course in songwriting! Discover some fun tips and tricks for coming up with original lyrics and learn how to put it to music to create your very own song. Wild Kingdom Experience Get the wiggles out through this movement story experience! Visit the imaginary ‘OCSA Zoo’ and become one of the animals in this whimsical movement exercise, inspired by the childhood classic Giraffes Can’t Dance by Giles Andreae.

Play areas The following arts play areas are designed for free play and can be visited at any time throughout the festival. There is lots to discover in these immersive, hands-on spaces! These areas will adhere to suggested room capacity as needed. Let’s Build a House! Building a house just got super imaginative! Using creative and fun materials, explore different ways of constructing a house. Follow a specific plan or build something completely unique as you design and build your dream home. Let’s Dance Ballet Folklórico! Take an imaginary trip to Mexico to hear about the significance and traditions of the Mexican folk dance Ballet Folklórico, as seen in the Disney movie Coco. Learn a few steps of this traditional dance and enjoy the vibrant music, in addition to several arts and crafts activities. Let’s Grow a Garden! Come discover the artistry of gardening! Discover what it takes to grow, develop, and maintain a flourishing garden. Learn how to pot your very own succulents, handcraft clay flowers for an actual art exhibit, or dig into any of our garden-inspired arts activities. Let’s Make Some Art! Time to get messy! Come create anything you can think of with clay, Play-Doh, slime, and more. This area is all about getting together to have fun, be creative, and use your imagination with various art materials. Let’s Sing a Song! Let’s sing together! Come sing songs about love, joy, and acceptance with students from OCSA’s Thespians Group. You will get to learn rhythm patterns and American Sign Language (ASL) words to go with some of your favorite songs! Let’s Tell a Story! Pull up a cushion and get cozy to hear cherished childhood stories performed by OCSA’s Thespian Group, in collaboration with the Santa Ana Public Library. If you would like to keep your hands busy, you can also get creative with some fun arts and crafts activities!
