SPARKLING SATURDAY SATURDAY 3 JULY 2021 Official programme £3.00
Harvey Dent, winner of our one mile feature race on this card in 2019, ridden by Daniel Tudhope and trained by Archie Watson.
THE JOCKEY CLUB WELCOMES YOU
Good Evening and welcome to our Sparkling Saturday Race Meeting. It is fantastic to see you all here. We have two Pony Races ahead of the main 6 race card, it is very exciting to see Pony Racing Back here at Carlisle. Pony Racing is now 10 years old and has provided an education for many professional and amateur jockeys. In 2017 185 jockeys holding a BHA licence to ride or a Rider Certificate started in pony racing. These jockeys have come from a variety of backgrounds, including those with racing backgrounds, those with a wider equestrian background and those with no links to racing or equestrianism. We are looking forward to Thursday 8th July’s raceday ‘The Great Community Raceday’ sponsored by OEE Container Technology. The day’s aim is to highlight 6 amazing local charities. -

OEE Container Technology is a local company. The company was formed by husband and wife team, Susan and Bruce Jones in early 2018 to assist in filling the skills gap and to provide Engineering, support and improvement services to the ever-growing Packaging manufacturing market, primarily focussed on Beverage and Food, Cans and Ends. Managing Director, Bruce Jones has accumulated more than 25 years’ experience in both Beverage Can and End manufacturing since starting with Carnaud MetalBox, Botcherby (UK) as a Production Engineer in the early 1990’s. He moved on secondment from CMB to NAFCEL in Saudi Arabia and with the team in NAFCEL was instrumental in delivering the initial upgrades to the existing equipment making the plant a world class facility with sales globally. We will also be showing one live race on ITV4 on Thursdays Raceday which is really exciting and the first time in many years that this has happened. A big thank you to today’s sponsors Northern Security. Northern Security’s highly successful, pro-active approach has been built upon many years of experience in the management and application of security contracts across a broad spectrum of businesses and locations. A network of offices, a highly motivated, fully trained workforce and the latest security technology allows us to deliver impressive service levels that consistently match and exceed even the most demanding of contractual requirements. We also fondly remember Jim Williamson today he was an avid racegoer and enjoyed many a day here at Carlisle with his friends. I hope you have a fantastic day and I look forward to seeing you soon. Preference is for USTATH, who gave way only in the closing stages over 6f at Doncaster recently and he makes plenty of appeal in this less competitive affair. Gullane One is 7lb lower than for last summer’s Thirsk success and should regain the winning thread before long judged on recent efforts. He is second choice ahead of Gold Zabeel.

ELIGIBLE is on a good mark judged on his 3-y-o form for Clive Cox and suggested he’s ready to strike again when reaching the frame at Southwell and Doncaster earlier in the year, so he could prove the answer returning from a break. Tellmeyourstory is a well-bred sort in a top yard so may have more to offer now she’s up and running, while fellow 3-y-o Distinction ought to remain competitive.

PRAIANO left his debut form in his wake when runner-up in a Doncaster maiden (11.9f) 3 weeks ago, noted staying on well. A very well-related individual, he’s the type to go on improving and earns the vote to get off the mark. Fellow 3-y-o Hard To Fault rates the lead threat on the back of his Catterick second 4 weeks ago. Newcomer Victory Star is also worth a second look.
