Goodwood Races 2021
FRIDAY 11th JUNE OFFICIAL PROGRAMME
JUNE EVENING RACING Welcome to the second of our June Evening Racing fixtures. This evening’s six-race programme features four competitive handicaps before our fifth race, which is run in memory of Sir Eric Parker, a highly successful owner, breeder and a great supporter of British Racing. A long-term President of the ROA, he celebrated many a great day out at Goodwood, his local track. Enjoying over 43 years of racehorse ownership, Sir Eric Parker’s highlight as an owner came when Seagram was victorious in the 1991 Grand National. The culmination of the racing action sees the coveted Silk Series return. It is a race series for female jockeys run across fifteen British Racecourses, with the leading lady receiving The Tufnell Trophy named in memory of Meriel Tufnell MBE, Great Britain’s first Female Champion Jockey in 1972. The award is about inspiring achievement for female jockeys, and we wish all those taking part this evening the very best of luck. We are incredibly grateful to tonight’s race sponsor, the European Breeders’ Fund. I hope you enjoy a fabulous evening in the sun on the South Downs and look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Best of luck to all our owners with horses running at Goodwood today.
The Duke of Richmond & Gordon Chairman, Goodwood Racecourse

The Course Course Characteristics Goodwood’s pronounced gradients and sharp bends favour the active, handy type of horse, the fluent mover rather than the big, long-striding runner, and this applies especially in short races and when the going is fast.
Position of Starting Stalls Straight Course-on stands side rail. Round Course-on inside rail except 1m 3f & 1m 4f-on outside rail.

There was no stopping THAI TERRIER when he returned to the winner's enclosure at Carlisle last time and having only been denied by two lengths when sighted over track and trip before that, rates as the one to beat here. Ispahan impressed over 1m4f at Brighton recently and is another with smart form at this distance. The returning C'Est No Mour and Ed Dunlop's Amazing Red are no back markers and can't be ignored, while Speedo Boy is respected now back on a sounder surface.

STEWARDS NOTED: SWEET CELEBRATION:Following its run on 26/4/2021 it was reported that the horse hung right handed.
Race Summary QUENELLE D'OR struggled in the Cheshire Oaks last time but she had previously got off the mark over 1m3f in a novice race at Kempton. That form suggests that this daughter of Golden Horn may be underestimated by a mark of 80. End Result broke her maiden tag on her final start in 2020 and she caught the eye when finishing third on her return to action last month. Pearl Beach is another with strong form claims and she is the pick of the remaining field.

Race Summary There is every chance that Hugo Palmer has found a race that suits Addosh and although the daughter of The Gurkha has top-weight to carry here, that may not be beyond her. Eton Blue ought to appreciate the quicker ground and could be the surprise package, but ORIENTAL ART looks to be the one. He makes his handicap debut over a more realistic trip after three starts over shorter, and with the David Simcock and Jamie Spencer combination in good form, he won't be far away at the finish.
Win: Oriental Art

Race Summary LIBERTINE BELLE has been knocking on the door so far this season and has a great chance of going one better than her Lingfield second off the same rating. Liberty Bay could build on an encouraging return at Leicester recently, while handicap debutant Give 'em The Slip represents the yard that won this in 2017 and has looked a smart prospect so far. Chloholteen is respected dropping back to 6f, with Silver Diva also noted having threatened to land a telling blow in her appearances this term.

The daughter of Profitable is entitled to improve for that experience and she will be tough to beat if doing so. Prism, Roystan Girl and Argirl are others who have already shown promise on the racecourse, while Hellomydarlin is arguably the pick of the newcomers.

RACE SIX
Rafiot brings winning course form to the table and wasn't beaten far off a 1lb higher mark on the all-weather at Lingfield last time. He merits shortlist inclusion alongside Frozen Waters, who was a big eye-catcher when a running-on third over 1m1f here recently. However, this could go to ZUBA. The five-year-old has been in cracking form of late, placing twice at this venue either side of a hurdles victory at Plumpton, and having the talented Laura Pearson take 5lb off his back is a big positive.
