Stewards’ Cup Handicap (Class 2

THE HEINEKEN UK SCOTTISH STEWARDS’ CUP HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 2)

RACE DESCRIPTION

This is a six furlongs handicap race for three-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 86 to 105. Once a horse has qualified for a handicap rating this is regularly reassessed. A below-par effort could result in a reduced rating whilst a strong performance could see the rating increased. Occasionally, horses are entered to race before their handicap rating has been reviewed and so to avoid recent winners being un-penalised they are allotted a mandatory penalty – usually 6lb.

BETTING FORECAST: 5-1 Mr Wagyu (IRE), 11-2 Commanche Falls (GB), 13-2 Rathbone (GB), 7-1 Meraas (GB), 12-1 Illusionist (GER), 14-1 Music Society (IRE), 16-1 Desert Safari (IRE), 18-1 Kraken Power (IRE), 20-1 Staxton (GB), 22-1 Paws For Thought (IRE), 28-1 Equiano Springs (GB) RACE SUMMARY: COMMANCHE FALLS didn’t get the rub of the green when fourth in the 11-runner Thirsk handicap won by Rathbone and, granted better luck this time, he may well reverse the placings on 4lb better terms. Indeed, Michael Dods’s charge did the job well at Ripon on his penultimate start and remains on a feasible mark. Mr Wagyu has been in terrific form this year and should give another good account. 1-2-3: 1.COMMANCHE FALLS 2.RATHBONE 3.MR WAGYU (IRE) FOR THREE YRS OLD AND UPWARDS NUMBER OF DECLARED RUNNERS 12

HEINEKEN UK has generously sponsored this race and will present a memento to the winning owner.
