OLLY MURS SATURDAY 14 AUGUST RICK ASTLEY SATURDAY 18 SEPTEMBER TICKETS ON SALE NOW REFUND GUARANTEE

Good evening and a very warm welcome to our aptly named and recently changed, Re-Locked Racenight, supported by BetVictor! Whilst we were hoping to celebrate the great unlock, further to the most recent government update, we will need to wait a little longer! I would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors for their generous support of today’s card including, BetVictor, Pump Technology and Jonathan Portman, Hot to Trot Racing, British EBF, the family of Maurice Adams and the Fetherston-Godley family. Despite the extension of a 4,000 capacity ruling, summer is very much on here at Newbury with plenty to look forward to. Our popular Gin Thursday evenings will make a return on Thursday 1/8/22 July and hopefully we will see the return of some slightly warmer weather for them, with tickets still available to purchase via our website. We are also looking forward to the return of live music and our Party in the Paddock events, welcoming Olly Murs after racing on Saturday 14 August, and Rick Astley after racing on Saturday 18 September. For all tickets, hospitality enquiries or restaurant bookings, please visit the newburyracecourse.co.uk website and as a reminder, we offer a money back guarantee on all tickets if the event is cancelled due to COVID. For those football fans amongst you, we do hope you might continue to stay with us this evening to support the English against the Czech Republic in the Euros. The match will be shown live on the big screen overlooking the parade ring following the final race, with the Many Clouds bar remaining open for drinks until 10.30pm. Thank you for choosing to spend your evening with us. I hope you have an enjoyable and profitable time, and that you will be back with us again very soon.

Julian Thick Chief Executive

NUMBER OF DECLARED RUNNERS 9 (EXACTA) Betting Forecast: 2-1 Fav Al Kaaser (FR), 9-2 Jadaayil (FR), 9-2 Loolwa (GB), 13-2 Toofaan (GB), 8-1 Farhaa (GB), 12-1 Labwah (GB), 14-1 Aloof (GB), 16-1 Awtaar (GB), 25-1 Akala Sunbird (GB) Race Summary: A competitive renewal. Both Loolwa and Toofan looked exciting types last year, and whilst the later will be suited by the galloping track and a return to Turf, Toofan disappointed on reappearance behind Jadaayil. That one won well last time and could progress here but faces stiffer competition. Farhaa is exposed, but all three wins have been for female jockeys, so the booking of Hollie Doyle is interesting. However, AL KAASER won this race two years ago and looked as good as ever when runner-up over shorter last time.

29 YEARS OF GREAT SERVICE To the Sewage, Waste & Clean Water Pumping Industry

THE PUMP TECHNOLOGY STORY: After working in the pump industry for many years, I established Pump Technology Ltd in 1992 in response to the unserviced demand for mid-range systems to pump sewage, waste and clean water. I sourced the best pumps and custom built systems to suit individual needs. The company quickly expanded to offer commercial and industrial systems. To maintain the quality and supply of tanks used with our systems I set up Pegasus Pumps, who now produce tanks from 300mm³ to chambers 2.1m diameter and 5m+ deep. Over the years I have gathered a team of dedicated, experienced professionals who pride themselves on attention to detail. Our success is built on high quality products, comprehensive knowledge and sound advice coupled with our unique service and technical support. We are pump people who supply the pumps & pump systems you need. Our philosophy is simple. SPEED of RESPONSE - Present us with your problem and, working with you, we will present you with the most economic solution on the market providing optimum performance and lowest ownership costs. We AIM to do this WITHIN 30 MINUTES of our first discussion, subject to complexity of quotation. www.pumptechnology.co.uk

Maurice Adams Memorial

When Dad died in June 2019, just a few weeks short of his 87th birthday, the family wanted to do something that would mark his birthday in the years to come.

He was a loving, family man so he is always in our thoughts and prayers but what could we do to mark his birthday; something special to him and something that the family of all ages including his 5 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren (and counting), could enjoy in the years to come? It wasn’t a difficult decision to sponsor a race at Newbury in his memory. What better way to bring the family together to remember Dad in an environment he would have certainly approved of. Dad has always been mad on his racing. He took his beloved wife, Noreen and their two young children, Jan and I, on regular trips to the Midland racetracks in the 60’s. He spent many years, after he’d moved down South to pursue a successful career in Local Government, watching some of the best racing on offer at Ascot, Sandown, Kempton and, of course, Newbury. More recently, he’d enjoy summer evening racing with me at Bath and Newbury. He reveled in seeing the top races and many of the greats of the sport, both human and equine; Lester Piggott, John Francome, Frankie Dettori, Desert Orchid, Red Rum, Sea Pigeon and so many more. When he wasn’t at the races he was often found watching the racing on TV or attending stable visits to see his many syndicate horses. It didn’t matter if he owned a 1/12th share or merely an eyelash, he followed them with enthusiasm right until the day he died. We have no doubt that he is “looking down” on us today, enjoying that the family is able to share his favourite past time and I’m sure he’ll still be trying to find that elusive winner.

RACE 6

Race Summary: SUNSET BAY is a 3-y-o heading in the right direction and holds strong claims off the same mark as when second (well clear of the third) at Salisbury last week. Blackcastle Storm has performed with credit on both previous visits here and can bounce back from a lesser run at Yarmouth and provide the chief threat ahead of Delta River.
