EVENING RACING

FRIDAY 16 JULY 2021 Official Racecard £3

THE JOCKEY CLUB WELCOMES YOU Welcome to the July Course. It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the July Course for a summer’s evening here in this beautiful setting. We have seven races to enjoy, starting with the Rich Energy Fillies’ Handicap over a mile-and-a-quarter and ranging in distance down to a five-furlong sprint for the Rich Energy Two Drinks One Taste Handicap. We also have two Novice races on the card, which provide an opportunity to see young horses with little or no experience on the racecourse. Such races often provide a stepping stone for horses to move up through the grades and some very talented individuals have started their careers here on the July Course. We would like to thank Rich Energy for their sponsorship of six races this evening and extend our gratitude to the European Breeder’s Fund, who sponsor our penultimate race. We are very grateful for their support. We also extend our thanks to Al Basti Equiworld Dubai, for their sponsorship of our Owners’ and Trainers’ facility. Though we are now very close to returning to life without restrictions, we all still have a crucial role to play in minimising the spread of coronavirus. I therefore remind you of our customer code of conduct, the key points of which can be found on page 6. I wish all the horses and their connections the best of luck and hope that you all have a wonderful time with us at Newmarket this evening. Best wishes, SOPHIE ABLE General ManagerWHAT’S ON SITE TODAY?

Dubai 2020 will be long remembered as the one of the most difficult years that our generation will have ever faced. Covid-19 has brought many challenges to everyday personal and business life. The Thoroughbred Racing Community across the globe have had to make many tough decisions to keep racing going albeit behind closed doors. As racecourses across the UK start to welcome a limited number of people back to their tracks, we would like to congratulate Sophie and her team at Newmarket Racecourse, The Home of British Racing, on their efforts and determination to bring back spectators. We know it isn’t the same as before but we look forward very much to returning to the track in numbers to enjoy the sport we all love. Good luck to all and stay safe. It may be worth rolling the dice with KICK ON KICK ON, who admittedly hasn’t got his head in front for a while but he’s down to a career-low mark, has the assistance of William Buick, and moving up to 7f could be just the tonic.
