aye was the most kind-hearted, fun-loving, caring, inspirational young girl ever. Despite everything she was going through, she always kept a smile on her face. She always thought of other people’s feelings before her own. Always a fighter but this fight was just too big. We all miss you so much, but we have so many happy memories. Fly high Faye – you will always be the brightest star in the sky and will never be forgotten. Faye died of a very rare genetic disorder called Mitochondrial Disease following a kidney transplant in December. It was hoped that the transplant would change her life for the better but the procedure brought on seizures which turned out to be connected to a unique strain of mitochondrial disease which she had been unknowingly suffering from since birth. There is no cure for mitochondrial disease which affects every cell in the body. Mitochondria produce the energy in our bodies, if they do not work, it can cause serious complications. Faye’s mum, Carol, is the Office Manager at the Racecourse. Anyone wishing to make a donation towards research into Mitochondrial Disease can do so in the Raceday Office behind the Winners Enclosure.
