Penalties, after February 5th, 2023, a winner of a steeple chase...5lb No penalty to increase a horse’s weight above 12st Coral has generously sponsored this race and will present a perpetual Challenge Trophy, to be held by the winning owner until January 31st, 2024. In addition, a £50 cash prize will be awarded to the person responsible for the best turned out horse in this race. THERE WILL BE A PARADE FOR THIS RACE. Runners will be led past the stands before turning and cantering to the start. All number cloths to be carried in this race have been sponsored and will carry the name/logo of Coral. The sponsorship payment of £500 will be distributed equally amongst all horses starting in this race in accordance with paragraphs 24 to 27 of the Stakes and Prize Money Code. This race will be restricted to 20 runners plus two reserves. The two reserves will be nominated as R21 and R22. The procedure for the allocation and operation of the reserves protocol will be as detailed in the notice headed ‘Reserves’ which has been published in The Racing Calendar and which also appears in the important notices following the Standard Conditions on the Racing Bulletin area of the BHA Racing Administration Internet site www2.racingadmin.co.uk. The British Horseracing Authority will amend Rule (F)45 and Rule (F)92 in the event that raising of the weights at the 24 hour stage proves necessary. Trainers are reminded of the provisions of paragraph 41 of the Race Entry Code which require that they must notify the Racing Calendar Office immediately when the decision has been made not to run. This will maximise the list of runners and determine whether the weights will need to be raised. The British Horseracing Authority will modify the Rules of Racing as a consequence of providing two reserves for the Racing UK Steeple Chase (Handicap). The penalty referred to in Rule (F)96 will be waived for any horse which is deemed a non-runner by the reserve deadline. The British Horseracing Authority has modified paragraph 6 of the Weights and Handicapping Code for the purposes of this race, such that racecourse performances up to and including Sunday, February 5th may be taken into account. The British Horseracing Authority has modified the Declaration of Jockey section of the Race Entries Code and the Division of Races section of the Race Administration Code of the Rules of Racing for the purposes of this race. PLEASE NOTE: A novice horse shall only be qualified to run in this race if it has run a minimum of three times in Steeple Chases in Great Britain, Ireland or France in accordance with paragraph 15 of the Weights and Handicapping Code
