WELCOME TO SALISBURY RACECOURSE It is Bibury Cup Day, kindly sponsored in its entirety by the local Whitsbury Manor Stud. Our thanks to them for their generous support. Today is our fourth race meeting with racegoers back and the seventh race meeting of our season so far. We continue to be limited on numbers permitted to attend, and there are certain rules that we all have to follow. Thank you for your co-operation complying with those regulations – maintaining social distancing, face masks where required, hand hygiene, and sitting for your food and drink consumption. The Bibury Meeting has been staged at Salisbury since 1899 and the most notable recent winner of the Bibury Cup was Simple Verse back in 2015, a few months before she won the St Leger. Following a settled start to June, the weather broke here on Friday of last week, and we have had plenty of rain. However, at the time of writing, the forecast for raceday is better, so let us hope that proves to be correct. After Pyledriver’s win in the Coronation Cup at Epsom, we were pleased to see another Salisbury winning graduate, Oxted, win the Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes at the Royal Meeting last week. Oxted won his Novice as a 3 year old in April 2019. Enjoy your day and we look forward to seeing you again soon. Our next racing here at Salisbury is on Sunday 11th July. Best wishes, Jeremy Martin Executive Director & Clerk of the Course

STAR RATING EXPLAINED Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: ‘‘‘‘‘ Selected to win the race. ‘‘‘‘• Good chance of being placed. ‘‘‘•• By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims ‘‘••• Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. ‘•••• Can be given little or no chance. OFFICIAL BHA RATING The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

TODAY’S TIPS DID YOU KNOW: CLIVE COX AND ADAM KIRBY TEAMED UP TO LAND THE LAST RUNNING OF THE DUE DILLIGENCE STANDING AT WHITSBURY MANOR BRITISH EBF BLAGRAVE MAIDEN STAKES AND LOOK TO HOLD LEADING CLAIMS OF REPEATING THE FEAT THIS YEAR WITH CODIFY AT 1.00. RACE ONE CODIFY shaped with promise when third on his first start at Newbury and the son of Lawman is expected to step forward from that effort with the stable boasting an excellent record with their juveniles. Frankella is bred in the purple and she is entitled to come on from her debut here over a furlong shorter earlier in the month, while Warhol and Kit Gabriel are both capable of improving from their respective debut performances. WIN: CODIFY; DANGER: Frankella Race Two BOOM THE GROOM has been in decent form in two outings in 2021, placing twice in the space of a week at Lingfield and Brighton in April, and the 10-year-old can get his head back in front on this occasion. Stake Acclaim has been a model of consistency in recent weeks and another bold bid is expected, while Pettochside and Just Glamorous appeal most of the remainder WIN: BOOM THE GROOM; DANGER: Stake Acclaim Race Three GROOM took a notable step forward when winning in comfortable style over course and distance just over two weeks ago, benefitting from a step up in trip. The bare form of that win gives him strong claims in this grade and further improvement can’t be ruled out. Dairerin failed to match expectations when fourth in the Woodcote last time but may do better with the cheekpieces fitted, while Aldbourne attracted support on his debut and has the potential to step up significantly. WIN: GROOM; DANGER: Dairerin Race Four DASHING ROGER is back on the upward curve and his decisive win at Sandown last time suggested he will have no problem moving back up in grade. He is taken to register his sixth career win, possibly at the main expense of Starshiba, who got run down late on by subsequent Britannia winner Perotto at Goodwood last time. Syrtis makes just his second start for this yard and should find things easier on this occasion, having bumped into a number of subsequent winners in a Listed event at Windsor last month. WIN: DASHING ROGER; DANGER: Starshiba Race Five The Andrew Balding-trained GOLDEN CRUSADER offered plenty of promise as a juvenile and has the potential to improve on his seasonal reappearance, his first start since having a gelding operation. Kolisi and Khaiz represent top yards and, having both shown improved form on their most recent outings, look capable of getting in the mix once again. WIN: GOLDEN CRUSADER; DANGER: Kolisi Race Six LORD PROTECTOR made it a perfect three out of three when successful on his handicap bow here last month and could have plenty more to come off a 6lb higher mark, as Ralph Beckett’s Pastorius gelding now steps up in trip. Bandinelli lost little in defeat when attempting to concede 7lb to two useful rivals at Wolverhampton and could be a player on handicap debut, while No Recollection was third to Royal Ascot scorer Surefire at Leicester earlier this month and is respected off the same rating, moving up in distance. WIN: LORD PROTECTOR; DANGER: Bandinelli Race Seven MASTER MILLINER has picked up from where he left off in 2020 and extended his winning run to three when successful over course and distance last time. A 7lb rise makes things tougher, but he was well in control at the finish here recently and looks a stayer to keep on side. Buriram is only 1lb higher than when second at Chester on his return and has won over this trip in the past, while Nuits St Georges bravely saw off all challengers at Goodwood last month and won’t lie down without a fight WIN: MASTER MILLINER; DANGER: Nuits St Georges toteplacepot suggestions: (1) 5 & 12 (2) 4 & 5 (3) 2 & 3 (4) 4 & 13 (5) 2 & 5 (6) 1 & 3

DECLARED RUNNERS 7 Running for the first time since Gelding No. 2. Stewards Note: LOVE IS GOLDEN: Following its run on 12/6/2021 it was reported that the horse was impeded late-on. Betting Forecast: 13-8 Lord Protector (GER), 4-1 Bandinelli (GB), 13-2 Pleasant Man (GB), 8-1 Love Is Golden (IRE), 10-1 No Recollection (GB), 14-1 Alpine Stroll (GB), 16-1 Zuraig (GB) Race Summary: An interesting bunch of 3-y-os but we don’t yet know the limit of the unbeaten LORD PROTECTOR and he’s fancied to successfully concede weight all round. Bandinelli switches to turf and a good test over this trip is sure to suit, while Pleasant Man looked promising as a juvenile and may yet come good after a gelding operation.
